Commandos 2: Men of Courage is a definitive World War II real-time strategy and tactics game released by Eidos Interactive and Pyro Studios, and it is probably my favourite PC game of all time. This is my full gameplay walkthrough with commentary of Level 3, White Death, which can serve as a guide for how to successfully complete the level.
Level Plot: Commandos Jack O'Hara, Thomas Hancock, James Blackwood, Paul Toledo and René Duchamp have stolen an Enigma machine and rescued the crew of a Royal Navy submarine, the E-423, from a German submarine base at La Pallice in La Rochelle, France. While in the North Sea, the submarine is caught and forced to surface in the frigid waters after being depth charged by a German destroyer. The Enigma machine is confiscated and the entire crew captured with the exception of Blackwood and Hancock, both of whom evaded capture. After rescuing the crew, the commandos proceed to recover the Enigma and disable the destroyer's main guns and boiler room. Under orders that the Enigma be hastily brought to England, O'Hara and Duchamp takeoff in a Fieseler Fi 156, while the rest escape in the submarine.
The game sees players taking control of a squad of commandos (Green Beret, Sniper, Diver, Sapper, Driver, Spy, Thief, and Natasha) along with various allied units, as they sneak behind enemy lines to accomplish various missions in World War II, between 1941 and 1944, that will help them to thwart the war efforts of the Germans and the Japanese. The game also has an incredible music soundtrack by Mateo Pascual.
This is the original release of the game, currently available on Steam. I will also be reviewing the 2020 HD remaster soon.

I remember this mission very well. As a child, I played non-lethal runs just because I didn't want to hurt anyone and I used to drag every tied-up Nazi in those little warm tents so that they wouldn't freeze to death in the outside. Well, I was a nice kid...

You can wait them to vanish or move laying down, so they don't appear.

Steve, while playing on my ps4, I can not find how to get a single or a group of commandos to aim weapons and maintain a firing perimeter taking down enemies as they enter the yellow zone. What control feature locks those actions in..?
I remember playing this mission with my older brother and he didn't know the way to get out of the submarine without being spotted and I actually knew how to but he wouldn't let me play

@Noone Cares nah he was like 13 when we were playing together snd i watched all the walkthrough videos because they wouldn't let me play and now he completed the game in under 2 days

I have one issue please, when I look inside a building, I can't seem to move the little camera, it's fixed and a bit distorted. Can I fix it ?
When I played this as a child I didn't know putting any of the commandos other than the spy in an enemy outfit would conceal them. Knowing that would have made it much easier lol. I also didn't know crawling prevented alerting people that well because it seems so counterintuitive.
Yes, Spy's feature is that he can wear Officer's uniform :)
But if I remember correctly, wearing enemy uniform consumes some charges from it, so you can't wear it indefinitely, or smth like that.
I used the grappling hook to get on the submarine and use the switch lower down the pavement on the other side of it.
39:12 I guess they probably noticed Foot steps on Snow and found it strange
I’m playing this on Xbox and it’s much more difficult. The controls are wonky and sometimes it trips you up while other times it pulls off some fast ones. The thing I notice, especially with this mission, is that the enemies sweeping views are much wider than on your video. It’s making it much more difficult even when I head in the other direction towards the balloon. None of the enemy seem to like wine or cigarettes too. Maybe it’s too cold to drink, but many of them are smoking and missing the packets I toss to lure them into my knife range. Oh well, I usually try first and then watch your channel, but this time you only give me suggestions so far.
That does sound more difficult!
If someone is smoking he will not go for cigarettes. As he has them already.
Bad guys see footprints in deep snow
Did you know you can highlight storage/furniture by holding F10 and highlighting enemies using F11? - just didn't notice you using these :)
I'm not sure they work on Mac, but yes I used to do it!

Dispite the savegames problems i got throu but i missed alot and diddten got the bonus mission.
But If penguins can live in Madagascar, they can live in Arctic as well..
I got all three enigma parts with the green beret, and he and the French spy get in the plane after everyone else gets in the sub but the level won’t complete. All of the objectives are marked off. Wish I could figure out what I’m doing wrong.

have just completed it after I watched the speedrun he were using only remote blue bombs and detonating it after you get all your crew in their last positions the mission immediately completes after detonating the last bomb because eveyone is where it should be it immediately triggers.
Well i just played and downloaded this on ps4 because i used to play this as a kid and didnt know what to do exactly. Now im older i uderstand the canpaign better. But i really want to kill every single enemy on every chapter

I give up. Now for a second time i can't get the game to start the ending in white death so im stopping playing. Its bad, this is a good game 😭
I had the same issue, the spy needs to have 3 items which is the paper and the type writer thing and the metal clogs and I finished the mission, try that
Same here, it sucks. Could it be that it’s because on my team member is dead (swimmer) that it won’t let start the ending?
No, i got throu. Try change this spareparts the sub needs and give the parts to those who use the plane.
@@onlineghost the sun needs spare parts? At this point spy and green beret are on the plane with the 3 items. 9 sailors and the rest of the alive crew are in the sub. Nothing happens:(
Finally all good 🎉 wasn’t aware that you could ressurect the death. My swimmer was dead and after a umpteenth go and back in the area and around him I noticed I could heal him.. so he was the problem why I could end the mission. Thanks for the help and the tuto
Well, i can't finish this mission as my game wont activate the end when all is in the sub and the spy and green beret is in the plane. The only thing i diddent use was the baloon.

Glad it is ranking high, I am doing these this year due to the virus limiting me from being able to work. So I am revisiting all my old favourite games!
