‌If your LH feeling is feeling slow, uneven, or just generally refusing to cooperate, you are not alone.
‌Instead of giving up on your left hand, or just accepting that your left hand is making the rest of your piece sound bad….consider trying out an exercise or two for some extra love and care that will help your left hand cooperate.
‌You don’t need to drill your left hand for hours and hours, just maybe a minute or two a day can make a pretty huge difference.
‌In today’s video, I share 3 exercises with you that can help your LH cooperate and sound more musical and smooth.
‌I am willing to bet that you haven’t heard of these 3 exercises before….and depending on how long you’ve been around, you may or may not have heard me talk about the bonus tip that I share at the end of the video.
‌Whether you’re wanting your LH to level up in ability, or your wanting a more even, beautiful sound in your LH, today’s tutorial is going to help you out in MAJOR ways.

This was tailored for beginners, but I watched anyway for pointers. I'll try the wrist roll, it really looks useful for Bartoli Bass. I rembember most of these tips from earlier videos, and am happy to report that I've been doing them for a while.
I thought you were going to talk about mirroring technique for the left hand.
I heard about playing cello pieces for also developing LH technique, and I tried THE Bach cello Prélude, but at the time the jumps were too large for my skill level. I'll try them again.
I like practicing stride when I play my scales. I switch stride along with different rhythm patterns.

Yes! And actually a shocking number of advanced piano players can’t do the things in this video so it’s needed for all levels! You’re doing great!

Make a Czerny Op.599 practise challenge/tutorial series, or related ones, even mixed ones from Chaffer sight reading or mikrokosmos, they are all good for hand independence. I am only doing Mikokosmos right now.

While I found all of the tips in this video helpful, I really like the first tip where you recommend taking a measure and playing the same notes with LH as played by the RH. Will be starting this practice tip today. Thanks!

@@AshleeYoungMusicStudio I decided to jump up right after my post and give this a try. I really like the exercise. I only started playing this past january and the last time I tried playing Fur Elise it did not go well. I tried your exercise and repeated many time on a few measures up to the first repeat (each hand first) and then both hands...although I feel I have improved since that last attempt, . this time was much better.
