Extra strong point on what to look for in people with Fe vs Fi in how they express themselves. Being that almost everyone closes to me in my family are Fi users... the reason I thought I was an infj with strong Fe 🤣
Same here, this inability to decide on one of the two types is driving me insane. Some say it's due to the inconsistency, ambiguity of the mtbi system itself. Very accurate comparison. In the beginning of COVID, my INTJ brother-in-law looked to the "experts" and ran with it. Spent 20 minutes washing produce, quarantined, etc. I was suspicious as none of the rules made sense, and as I investigated more and more, I discovered layer upon layer of lies and fraud. I tried introducing him to alternative information, but he would have none of it. When together, our conversation is minimal, although we can make each other laugh. He speaks methodically and concisely, but briefly. I'm typically quiet, because little of what he talks about interests me. And I know that none of my "insignificant" hobbies or even my job (he asks me to be polite) would be of interest to him, so I never bring them up. He was trained as an engineer and owns a multi-million dollar shipping management/strategy company and his goal in life was all about success and money. His marriage proposal to his wife was like a business proposal, and he has guided his son toward a career in finance, as anything else in his opinion is worthless. I am a dentist who worked all alone (no staff) in a hole-in-the-wall, one-chair office in my basement, focused on satisfying patients often using outside-the-box solutions. I operated under the radar (almost like a speakeasy)--tiny little sign on the door--and gained patients through word of mouth. In between patients I was on the computer exploring other things that interested me. I procrastinated at billing and processing insurance claims. I barely made enough to survive over a 40-year career and ended up in significant albeit manageable debt. Up until I discovered MBTI and who I was, I thought there was something seriously wrong with me since I had never encountered anyone else (let alone another dentist) like me. This is perhaps an extreme, but very illustrative difference between an INTJ and INTP.
While reading this I immediately felt a strong sympathy for you. I am an INTP as well and I'm missing other people similar to me so hard in life. I read a description about INTPs somewhere that said: If someone is very talented, knows a lot and has a sharp mind but lacks of success in life, then it's probably an INTP.
@@BM-hw7kp No. I didn't provide you enough info. I see those as more bureaucrat types concerned with rules. He is the mastermind--entrepreneur who is driven to success. Workaholic. Works while on vacation. Definitely Ni dominant. And Se: He is anal about stuff--organizing his closet (by colors), neat, dressed to a T.
@@franziskabrand5964 Well, let's say "success" as defined by the norms of society. Financially I'm a disaster, but my career was rewarding. I hope your life is/was at least that. I'll also suggest that it's hard to find other INTPs in real life because we tend to avoid people when not forced into it. But I still believe the actual percentage in the population is far lower than claimed.
I just want to add something from my own experience. If you can't decide between the two types because you feel like you have both Ti and Ni chances are you actually do and you are neither of those types. That probably applies equally to Te and Ne as well as to any other possible combination. In my case I realized that I am actually an ISTP with a pretty strong (but not necessarily well developed) Ni. It's even hard for me sometimes to draw the line between the Ti and Ni in my head because of how intertwined they are. There are times where I would see myself as a more practically orientated version of an INTP.
Thank you for saying this! I relate to it very much.. And I'm still unsure of my type cz i have a high Ni, Te and Fe and most tests assign me INTJ, some INFJ but either I'm a very socially receptive INTJ with strong Fe or a very logical INFJ with developed Te or none of them.. At this point i just wanna understand cognitive functions so i can understand myself better and improve where i lack cz typing archetypes are weird..
@@saloni.sharma I understand 🙂. Perhaps a good idea is to completely forget about the test and get a couple of professionals, honest friends and family as well as study the cognitive functions more but particularly looking at it from the angle of what you're not good at or relate too (process of elimination) versus finding what you related too imho. I think almost everyone mistyped the 1st time for that exact same reason cause if you think about we all share things in common as human beings. It took me 2 years doing the work myself than after that I paid a couple of professionals just to get different angles as well as speak to friends and family (more angles) about what they think (honestly) about me. You'll be surprised how much close friends and family knows about you when you offer 1 glass of wine, ask them with a smile what they think your strengths and weaknesses are while continuing to nod your head as if you agree in order to get the truth out of them 😉. On communication styles. It's not a matter of direct vs. descriptive. INTPs are both. INTJs are brief--not only lacking detail, but often essential information. What else would you add about the differences between these two types?
INTJs often overact when under pressure and may end up abusing food, drink, or entertainment, which does not happen with the INTP type.

There are alot of similarities, but very different too.
