This is one of the best videos on e-bikes and production of e-bikes that I've seen in a very long time. Very comprehensive. Done in a reasonable time frame for people to watch. I was not bored! Kudos to you!!!
Kevin is absolutely fantastic, I had issues with my Revv1 and he had everything, MORE than fixed within 3 days. I was incredibly impressed and 3k miles later on my Revv, I would do It again in a heart beat. They make fantastic stuff. Kudos for showing off the new DRT model.
I actually roped in the wife to watch this and we were amazed. The Ride1UP boss was so dedicated to creating a perfect product for the customer. Not for profits. Unheard of today. I wish good ebikes were assessible in Trinidad. Only 2nd rate ones and they're ridiculously priced. Bro! I wish you, your family and your team all the best. Love your channel because, like the Ride1UP boss, you go all out for us❤
I've had the roadster V2 for 2 and 1/2 years and put about 5,000 mi on it. For the $1,000 I paid for it you can't beat it for its intended purpose. Great value for the money.
Same situation as you (only 2k miles), and I just got the CF Racer1. I love the V2🎉 so much that I’m thinking about getting a second one for friends to ride with me, just because they’re on sale for $800
I used to work as an electronics technician for a major manufacturer here in the United States, and watching this video brought back memories of how important it is to build good, quality products at a reasonable price for customers. I purchased the Revv1 back in February, and just from watching this video I see why my e-bike has top notch quality. Thanks for sharing this video. 😊
I've purchased 4 Ride1 Up e-bikes this year for the family. Price, quality and fun factor can't be beat.
I've been very very happy with my Ride1Up 500 Series e-bike for a couple of years now. When I have had to reach out to customer support with questions along the way, they have always been extremely fast and thorough with assistance. When the day comes that I need to refresh my ride, Ride1Up will be my go-to! This video of their story and quality further reinforces my belief in the brand! Thanks very much.
Boeing could a learn a thing or two from Ride1Up's quality assurance.
boeing run by white collar crimin*ls, engineered by indiota consultants who never saw a plane or car before getting hired working on boeing's projects
Thanks for the video. Got my LMT'D a little over a year ago, and I'm still happy with it. Somehow this video makes me even a little bit happier.
Great to hear!
Great insight. A Dutch guy that creates bicycles. What better founder a company can have… thanks 🙏
A Dutch Californian. Even moreso
I’m currently looking at the Ride1Up Prodigy V2, this video came out right on time! Thanks for this! Yes I’ve been riding the OG 500 Series for 4 years now. Love it.
Nice! How many miles are you at?
@@Electrek Probably around 10k. I ride it mostly for leisure down here in Orange County :)
I think I’m going to go for the Belt CVT drive on the Prodigy V2.
That’s awesome, I love hearing about bikes that have been kept on the road for many years. That belt prodigy V2 is an awesome bike and the price they have it at is a steal. If you do get it, I hope you find a good home for the 500, though I like to have a spare bike around for friends to join on rides 😎
@@Electrek Me planning on getting the Prodigy V2 is so I have two E-Bikes here for friends and family yup! 😎
I'm impressed with their manufacturing processes. Gives me a lot of confidence that my new Ride1up bike is well built!
dope video!
I just bought a Portola for my kids to join me instead of my lonely rides and I am making them watch this first to respect all the work that went into it! Hopefully that will encourage taking care of it. Great tour. I am impressed with the combination of automation and human skill. The third party inspection is really interesting strategically.
Thanks for the tour. I've enjoyed your reviews of the Ride1Up products. This tour has helped me to decide I'm going to purchase from them.
Say thank you to these hard working men!
Thank you for making me feel good about my purchase lol! Got my Prodigy V2 last week and Im really happy with the product and the customer support. I was thinking of making a video showing the things i bought for it and the mods i want to do.
Just bought a cafe cruiser. It's awesome and customer service was really great
this video gives a potential buyer insight if the company that produce the product would be a good buy or not
Very Kool video .... I have always wondered how things were QC'd in the great world of MFG in CHina .....
Thanx for the video !
GREAT GREAT GREAT VIDEO. Awesome content! Extremely informative. My next bike will be one of these for sure.....
Really happy with my Ride1Up bike, and I'm this BTS solidifies my respect for what they're doing for e-bikes.
Good tour , Plenty of useful information , I wish investors keep their eyes on this pioneering company
Very cool tour. Thank you
Great reportage
Thank you for that review.
We have two 700 series at home, It has been great
Thanks for traveling the world for us to be able to view these awesome manufacturing facilities !
Another very interesting video. Impressive company and quality control.
I bought my wife a Ride1Up ST700 about 3 years ago and it now has about 3400 miles on it and so far I haven't had any issue with it at all. When I got it new I had one question when assembling the front fork and emailed them and got a great answer in about 45 minutes. I'd highly recommend their bikes.
Great CEOs make great products. Sounds like he's the RJ of electric bikes.
Fantastic video!
Great information
@6:35 that boy love that coke🤣
Great video Micah ! Cool that you got to go there !!
They were my first Ebike, great experience! Now I can see why. Thanks for video.
Love this video. We have the LMTD and Cafe Cruiser. What city is the factory in?
Micah, what camera are using for the videos? Well done takes doing one-man videography.
Most shots are on my Sony rx100 vii but the shots with me in them are on my dji osmo pocket. Both cameras are 3-4 years old.
Thanks for another informative “behind the scenes” video. Great you could coordinate with Kevin Duggar for it!
It’s encouraging to learn of their multiple inspection stages.
I’ve been pretty pleased with the LMT’d I bought in late 2020, though perhaps they didn’t have the paint quality inspections in place as its matte paint is quite fragile, and thick paint on the faces of the bottom bracket caused issues with creaking when pedaling and misalignment and some damage to the ribbon cable insulation from the torque sensor. After I sanded off the paint, it aligned correctly and eliminated the creaking noise.
Great that Ride1Up is trying to eliminate non-recyclable, non-biodegradable packaging, and switching to reusable nylon cable ties. I use a precision flat head screwdriver to remove them for reuse already, but it’ll be much easier and safer to not have to do that. I’ve seen at least one brand use twisted thick Kraft paper ties (I think Globe?).
Would like to get a Portola to replace my Nesta, but waiting for it to get UL certification. It will make it easier when I take it to NYC and other places that are requiring UL certification.
Just got a Turris few days ago!!!
Price + Quality = Perfecto!
Another excellent behind-the-scenes video from ol' Micah. I like the founder's values.
I just bought a Portola recently and am having problems with the controller. (wattage displayed is completely inaccurate) I wrote to their CS team and they stuck with me. Even after I had given up and was going to accept it the way it is, Benito followed up with me to make sure it was OK. It wasn't, and they're sending me a new display now. I have high hopes for this bike. With a change to street tread tires, I think it will be PERFECT.
Had a Core-5 that developed intermittent battery issues after a few thousand miles, and they replaced it with an upgraded one. I’ve since sold that and now have a Turris with 1200 mi…so far, so good. I would say quality control has improved these last few years. Good solid product at an affordable price 👍
I need to have this one!
This was awesome. I traded in my lectric XP 3.0 for an Xpeak and it was a death wobbly lemon. Brought it back, and while I was not going to keep that bike, it made me realize how much I can ride anywhere but I need way more battery+speed. So I’m saving up for a wired freedom, but in the meantime I need a stopgap. Saw the cafe cruiser, it looks cool, has a passenger seat (genuinely hilarious add-on BTW; highly recommend.) And for $1299 what a steal. It is very well built. Day 2 with my Lectric Xpeak the kickstand fell completely loose. Because I’m an idiot when I got my cafe cruiser, I knocked my kickstand loose off its adjustment knob trying to lengthen it, had to take the whole thing off to avoid laying down on the ground. Lo and behold the bolt was perfectly snug how it should be, and BLUE LOCTITE? Hallelujah. Smart people at Ride1Up, they are putting $$$ where it matters. My cafe cruiser will have a place in my home for a long time even when my wired cruiser comes in. (That one is just a legit money saver to just stop driving my car as much as possible lol.)
nice clean shop -- can we do this in USA ?
I applaud this review. The short bio of the owner explains the company's philosophy well. The Ride 1Up factory combines hand assembled bikes, combined with state of the art robots, redundant quality control every step all with an attitude to deliver every bike to the consumers' doorstep that won't disappoint. Not an easy task, but it appears that Ride 1Up has the recipe down to a science.
There are a lot of junk e-bikes on the market coming out of China. Not Ride 1Up. They are not the least expensive, however they are one of the good guys, who offers a well made quaity bike, at a good value price.
Awesome video. Love the packaging reduction! Sure wish we'd do this here in the US. Will def consider this company when I get to a point I can't pedal on my own.
Man, this a quality build! No way my current e-bike was made with this much care. Guess I know where I’m getting my next bike!
Throw out that Rad ! lol
It's good to know a company that cares about their quality. I bought an ebike from VoltBike and almost got myself killed when the bike broke into two pieces. Good job Ride1Up.
Are you back in Florida Micah, it's hot as he_ _, lol
I own a 500 st and I wondered what new models they had so I went to the website last week, I was surprised to find a bike with a 36 volt system instead of 48 like mine, isn't that a downgrade?
If you are talking about the Prodigy no it is not a downgrade.
36V isn't inferior to 48V. Both have pros and cons. They are just two different system voltages. It's easier to go higher power with higher voltage, but you usually get lighter, smaller, and less expensive batteries with 36V, which can be more appropriate when moderate power is acceptable.
Which country ??
China
Never heard of the company but it's a pretty nice looking factory.
Love the behind the scenes coverage
In the video beginning they show riders, even children, no helmets.
I was really hoping to see how the REVV1 was made and the quality control on it.
Yes, would have been cool to see that one too, but I got there a few days after the most recent Revv1 batches were done, and the lines had been shifted over to CFRacer and Prodigy already. It seems they don't maintain separate lines for each model because it wouldn't be as efficient.
I was very happy with my Ride1Up bike!
How much is the sale price?
How much is the price?
I've got a Bosch battery & motor in my Trek, so I assume it has a low risk of catching fire.
We do need better regulations around batteries.
Also transparency about battery chemistry, particularly LFP given it has a very low risk of fire.
I just got my Portola and the quality is very impressive for the money is the best option right now on the market I hope this company don't change their path., and please we need 20v battery on Portola thanks and good vibes all the way.
Never heard of the brand till today.
Great video, I already have two comparable models from a company that starts with L, (and I feel has a similar mission as Ride1Up) but if I hadn't heard about them first, after this video, I would be very tempted to get a couple of their models.
man , i wish they sold the CFRacer1 here in the UK
Too bad they do not come to your home in the same shape as they left , meaning the box is always beat up !!
More interested in these bikes since I recently bought a Bat Safe XL box for more safely storing lithium batteries in my home. Couldn't afford the more pro $700.00+ boxes but this is better than nothing. Head of this company seems legit.
It would ;be helpful to know the price and range of both models.
It would ;be helpful to know the price and range of both models.
Things at ride1up must have changed in the past two years because the core-5 that I bought was unridable when delivered. The wheels were laughably under tensioned, the saddle clamp was broken, and one of the valve cores was also broken. Ride1up responded quickly with a new seat post and tubes, but the valve stems were short so it was a real chore to inflate them. I spent six years as a bike mechanic so I was able to basically finish building the wheels. Since then, the pads on the mechanical disc brakes regularly back out. Tightening them requires removal of the rear wheel which is very tedious. My son has put 2,000 miles on it and though it was a rough start, we’ve actually been very happy with it. After the poor delivery experience I had, I didn’t think they would be in business for long. But if they really have brought their quality control in line, then it seems they have a future after all!
The jobs are normally 50-100+ miles away on roads that has 70mph to 100 mph in the US, imagine riding a bicycle that far and with vehicles zooming that fast :D
😂
“…you probably already know about Ride1Up’s electric bikes.”
I’ve not heard of them before. And I own a mid-sized bike shop that services a wide variety of e-bikes. I know they’re a DTC brand, but no customers have commented on them yet (or brought one in for service work) to the best of my knowledge. Huh.
Electret, Will You be attending The Electrify Expo in Long Beach on June 1 and 2????
E-Cells E-bikes and Owner David Cleveland will be there with his full line of E-bikes. A chance to meet David, ask questions, and Test Ride E-Cells full line of E-bikes.
Have Fun at The Expo!!!
How about visiting some EV car companies !
Quality assurance didn’t happen when they made the 2 that I owned. I had a roadster that was complete junk. They also only had a 30 day warranty. 30 days?!?!!
Wow. this video of Ebike production is exactly the opposite of what I assumed was taking place with mass produced Chinese Ebikes. Perhaps Ride 1 UP stands head and shoulders above the crowd, but nevertheless it is very impressive.
Amazing the company makes any money given the detailed assembly process. Too bad the direct to consumer business model takes all this quality and places it in the least capable hands when it gets to the customer. What little has to be done by the consumer can be messed up in an amazing amount of ways.
Want to be "friendly"? Build your bikes in America. Charge a few hundred more.
Yes, I own a Prodigy v1, and except for the chainring throwing the chain at every bump (fixed with a narrow/wide chainring I installed), this is the best road bike I ever owned. Even the seat.
And use actual workers to build them.
their detail to quality is what the chinese should learn.
Wish they offer a dual-battery system. 20-45 miles is not much. And definitely not real-world mileage. I got several bikes and you get half of that range. If you don't weigh 150 and under (is where they usually test their range) then forget even getting close to it.
Shipping damage leads to the primary out of the box customer disappointed … Lectric has this solved
First Video:How e-bikes are made. Next video: How e-bikes are damaged in shipping. Last Video: how you are out of luck when things get damaged.
Biggest issue is people. The number of thieves has grown exponentially recently
Sold out to China
Making bikes that are too expensive 😂
3:46 An adjustable wrench ? You have got to be kidding me.
Why? It’s an adjustable torque wrench used to turn a cassette tool…
You would see more bicycles on the road in the US only if jobs and service are closely and available, otherwise you will need to drive a vehicle in the US. Everything is far apart in the US and the roads are very fast and dangerous for bicycles.
Wrong way to implement an quality program by inspecting the crap out of it ...that is why German products cost so much this is not Quality, but stupidity !
I didn't buy a ebike with wire wheels and can't imagine buying one with wire wheels. The tiny difference in range between mag wheels and wire wheels is negligible. And my bike looks a lot nicer. No wheel maintenance for me.
Hello, May I share the most important news you will ever hear in your whole entire life? God the Father sent His holy Son Jesus Christ(Y'shua Ha' Mashiach) from heaven to earth, to be born of a virgin. He grew up and died on the cross for our sins. He was put into a tomb for 3 days, and then Abba Father raised Jesus to life and He appeared to people and went back to Heaven. We must all sincerely receive Jesus to be a true child of God. It says in John 1:12 "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name." Will you genuinely believe on Christ Jesus and truly receive Him today, before it is too late?
Only one you ride is the good rest of the all junk
Not a fan of this black bike fad. Looks cheap and spray can and i guess people like looking at scratches
I wish I could afford a folding E bike from you guys but being out of work since last October after my Subaru forester died from an over heating issue and being supposedly fixed 2 time's it's been hard trying to find work without dependable wheels.
