My fortuner 2021 has this engine. May i know what's the problem of this engine that you'd rebuilt? So i can have preventive measures since my car engine is less than 4k km. And does all this model engine will have to be rebuild? Or just some cases?
Thank you very much for your comments,This engine is a very successful engine but the engine I am working in only had its pistons damaged due to the spark plug not being good so its short block has been replaced
How do you test/check the cylinder head for hairline crack that is not visible to naked eye?

Hello and thank you for this video. May I ask why you put silicone on the corners of the head gasket?
Because this is where the head and short block are joined and later most of the oil leaks from here, so this is where the seal is installed.

Engine is building up knocking/clapping (chack, chack, chack,...) sound which is very noticeable at cold start and at low rev between 1-1.2 rpm. When engine warms up it becomes milder, but it is always there. Generally, the engine sound is getting rougher. What could it be?

I'd say these are you bearings , probably time for a rebuild , do it early before it gets nasty
Mine had low power, started knocking. Only 60 lbs of compression in 1 and 2: Blown headgasket.

I do live in extreme temperature region and I do start the car often, but not always, in very cold. I change the engine oil every 5000-6000km and use mostly 5w-40. Odometer is 100,000km.

It’s 5w20. Not 40 weight use manufactured specs
In North America the engine oil for the 2TR-fe is 0w20 full synthetic or 5w20 standard oil..abused it will get a minimum of 250k miles with taken care of examples getting 300k to 500k miles and with some even getting 700k to 1 million miles on the original engine..
@@dlee8835 Toyota owner’s manual for Toyota HiAce with 2TR-FE motor the correct oil grades can be 5W-30 and 10W-30 Energy -conserving and 15W-30 or 20W-50 SL or SM multigrade oils! For those who want fuel economy the energy-conserving is the lighter grade oil.For those who want to long life from their engines I would suggest using the heavier grade oil for hotter climates or harder working conditions!But this is just my opinion as I never use light grade engine oil in my part of Australia.Page 201 Toyota HiAce owners manual gives the climate temperature range and 20w-50 can be used in this engine from -7 to over 40 degrees centigrade.Light oil is given for very cold countries and lower fuel consumption,lower fuel consumption blah blah blah engine wrecking BS for people who trade their vehicles before the warranty runs out!
Hello. I am stuck getting the timing cover on. I am trying to like that crank arrow with the timing cover one and I’ve been stuck in this for a while. I can send you pictures but is there any advice you could give?

@@MayoCarsDR just need help on how to actually like the oil pump key that goes to that crankshaft key. It feels like It’s stuck and I try to line it up and it just feels like in the middle it wobbles left and right like it’s not sliding on how it should. I took a couple bolts off of upper lower pan to try to get more leverage. Im really stuck I am heading there tomorrow morning if you have any advice please let me know thank you for your time

Nice video, i have bought fortuner 2022 model with 2TR engine my car is hesitating while acceleration, rpm is not going above 2000, after long press engine is getting power like drift and again getting down with no pickup, engine is vibrating and unable to run smoothly. There is no trouble codes in the computer, Pls pls advise what is the problem

What’s with the ding ding noise?
Sorry, don't like the way you are lapping those valves in. You're getting uneven coverage as you lap the valve because the valve is bouncing up and down on it's seat. You can buy valve lapping tools very cheaply. They have a suction cup on each end for different sized valves and you can apply even pressure from above instead of spinning the valve from below.
