Better than anywhere!! I learned to make curry in Durban from our Indian friends when I grew up there. I have tried so many others since and this is still the best!! In my opinion, Durban curries per sé, cannot be bettered!!
I made it twice now. The first time I used the tomatoes chopped just like the recipe it wasn't that great. 2nd time I used crushed canned tomatoes and tomatoe paste it was excellent. Thanks for the recipe! Keep em coming.
Mini Hair Dresser thank you, this recipe is from 2 years ago...I will update this recipe soon, as it isn’t how I prepare it anymore. I only use blended tomatoes now.
You can leave the curry leaves out, also after adding ground spices, add your chicken in first to seal in the spices then add tomatoes. This is an old recipe of mine and will be updating soon 😊
nawty two it’s beneficial and adds flavour. I recently started adding it to my curries and now it’s a must for me. It’s is optional so you can omit it if you don’t want to add it.
angela moodley I use Gorimas special mix, you can ask for the special mix at the counter. It contains Kashmiri chilli powder, Kashmiri masala and wet leaf masala
The weight of the chicken isn't necessary, the ingredients will work with all sizes of whole dressed chicken (not for Cornish/culls) and it will also work for already cut portions
Harley Quinn India has their own way of cooking this dish and here in South Africa with a lot of Indian influence, we too have our own version of preparing it, especially in different cities within South Africa, hence the title “Durban Chicken Curry”. Yes spices originate in specific countries but methods of cooking are different.
Black182heart here in South Africa we have Indians as I am an Indian too. This is the way majority of the Indians born in South Africa prepare it. Garam masala as well as many other spices is a must for our curries.
@@eatmeerecipes hmm so that means durban chicken curry isn't an authentic African recipe but more of a mix cultural recipe? My bad, I was looking to try to cook some authentic African recipe.
