The leaf blower bicycle literally made why whole day turn around, your tests are unbeatable, unbiased and fun to watch. Thanks for another great video!
I am willing to bet that all men who own a leaf blower have used it as some sort of 'engine' for transportation. Me and my neighbors have raced using our leaf blowers while on a skateboard and yes it was a waste of time but it was fun. In my honest opinion, leaf blower racing should be an Olympic event.
I don’t think I’m alone in here with saying I always get amped up when Project Farm drops a new video. His tests are always very thorough and practical with a slight dash of tomfoolery mixed in. Well done!
We bought the ryobi blower (40) volt. 170$ at home depot 5 years ago! It’s almost as good as our stihl gas unit!! Fantastic work!! This is the channel for all hard working Americans!🥳🥳😘
The leaf blower powered bicycle is AMAZING. On top of your already top-notch content. It really brought the video together! I love the fact that you put the speedo up there. > 30mph, VERY impressive!!!
The 27mph is indeed impressive. The power needed to drive a bicycle down the road rises enormously with speed. The wind resistance goes through the roof. It really takes off in the 20s.
As with many others, the bicycle test, going 32mph really made my day. I'm betting your neighbors get the biggest chuckle watching you do some of these tests, especially with the farmabago zipping through the field. I love your channel and always look forward to the next one.
@@boots7859 to go 30 mph you do better with a huge fan blowing at 40 mph than a little nozzle blowing at 150 mph. Once the mph is higher than you need, getting the CFM up does more good.
Way back when I used to ride a bicycle everyday, I once had a 30 mph tail win and decided to see how fast I could go pedaling on top of that. Scared the crap out of me.
I appreciate the fun you have while making some of these videos. Testing thousands of products for thousands of hours can become boring. Thanks for all the time and effort put into this channel!
We are a young couple just buying our first house. These videos have been absolutely invaluable to us. You have saved me a huge of time, money and frustrating research, sir. Thank you very much from both of us!
1000% AGREE! Project Farm is the BEST place on the whole Internet if you want quality reviews with no bias and only factual testing. I never buy anything without checking Project Farm First!
I’m sure this has been suggested a bunch of times and is also weather-dependent, but a snow blower video comparing gas and electric blowers would be so awesome!
This mans is taking TH-cam reviews to a whole other level. This is among the best videos I’ve ever seen! I’d love to see a comparison of all the best cordless tools against the best corded tools to see what kind of gap is out there for price/performance/convenience.
The overall ranking chart at the end was very helpful because it allows us to easily compare "best in show" across all categories. Please keep including these "overall ranking" charts. Thanks for the videos!
Very happy with my 1st gen EGO. There wasn’t much selection back then, but the 3 year battery warranty sold me. It replaced a electric blower that I spent more time with the cord than actually using the blower. The battery hasn’t diminished much over time and does fine for my porch and sidewalk and also drying my cars after washing them.
I’ve been extremely happy with my ego hedge trimmer. Had it for a while now with zero issues. Grabbed the ego blower recently and it’s been awesome also.
I had a Ego string trimmer and wanted another 2.5AH battery. It was cheaper to go to Home Depot and buy a leftover 1st gen blower with 2.0AH battery and charger since they were selling for $90. The battery failed in about a year since it was sitting on HD shelf for who knows how long. Ego sent me a 2.5AH battery for free with no problem. I wish I had a bigger battery for the blower but couldn't beat the price!
@@toddac61 👍🏼 glad it worked out for you. I grabbed the blower with the largest battery. 5.0?? The trimmer came with the 2.5. And it’s been working great for years. The 5.0 battery is really heavy though.
I think mine might be 1st gen too, 580 cfm, purchased 10/2018. Very pleased with it as a home leaf, grass clipping and light snow blower. Partly for the convenience. It just hangs on a hook inside the garage door and makes for quick easy cleanup. I later bought the string trimmer (have a couple hundred feet to trim) and equally pleased.
This dude impresses the heck out of me in every single episode. You know you are legit when everyone is saying they admire your ideas and look forward to your tests. Especially with products that each of us use often. How must that feel? It must feel amazing 🙏🏼
I've never owned a leaf blower and most likely will never do. But I've watched the entire thing start to end because just I admire the quality, detail and relevance of all the tests that are being put together for each review. I feel like I'm in a lab. Fantastic job @Project Farm
@@beanybeansable Still slower than a grandma with a good rake though. And, with a rake you do much less walking around to get the leafs going in the desired direction. Additionally, after you gathered the leafs with a blower you still need the rake to get them off the ground and into the cart or sack.
@@pflaffik not a chance and maybe for leaves it could be. But i have a large under cover exposed aggregate surface i use the blower to sweep it. so so good.!
Bought the Ego blower on your recommendation, and it works great on the leaves, long pine needles, and 2 or 3 inches of snow. I’m also surprised how fast the battery charges up on the regular charger. Thank you!
I bought my grandfather a Ryobi 40V leaf blower for Christmas last year. He really likes it, and I've had the chance to use it a few times, and we're both happy with it.
I worked at Lowes for 8 years, when greenworks came out I laughed, well here I am many years later with multiple greenworks products including a 60v leaf blower which has better balance and it still works like a boss.Great video as always
I never knew they were a competitive brand until recently. I always would pass up their products because I wasn't sure they made a good product. This is why videos like his are so important.
Ego all the way! Whatever the brand, all battery powered tools has been amazing so far. No gasoline smell in the garage or fumes when running. No need to run to the store for oil or gas too They are also much quiter!
@@christopherhendricks4369 try there 24v systems i have impact wrench, drill, and reciprocating saw and I work maintenance at a grocery store...lots of shopping cart repairs and other horrible things ,haven't let me down..and I have kobalt as well. Greenworks is a beast
The skateboard time test may be my favorite test method ever, lol. Great example of power to weight ratio for those of us who have gone electric to save our wrists and elbows. Likewise the balance test was brilliant, that was clearly never a factor for the ryobi engineers... And I loved the sound of the bike fly by! Very impressive !
That test reminded me of the jet engine drag cars at the strip 😄 I wonder if the orientation of the nozzle had any effect (like swept headers on a Funny Car 😄)
@@peacefrog0521 testing the difference with nozzles could have been interesting. I used to have a blower that had a wobbling tip, wonder how that would do on a skate board lol
This is the kind of video the shop guys & I like to watch on downtimes. I just picked up the Greenworks 80V and I could not be grinning any harder. Especially with Costco's 8yr warranty partnering up with Greenworks. Fist bump on this video. Thanks for what you do!
This test was perhaps the most timely you’ve ever produced. Especially with autumn upon us. I need a battery leaf blower to replace my very old echo 2-cycle and have been researching. This video just shortcut my research time down to a few minutes and gave me the perfect result. Ego for the win. THANK YOU, Todd!!!
Get that ego. Best thing I have ever ever bought. I got it for no particular reason either. Never been more happy with any purchase I have made in my life. Not kidding
I actually think the skateboard test was valid and helpful. I would be torn between the Ryobi because is so much quieter and the Ego. But it really comes down to what you already have purchased so you can use the same batteries.
I can tell you how. Fatigue. As a painter using Airless sprayers, I use different sized machines for different jobs, different pressures and different tips. A large machine running full bore moving a lot of paint, puts a lot of back pressure on your hand-arm-shoulder, and it can be tiresome trying to do that the whole day. Meanwhile, the little machines are a cake walk. In my mind, the heavier the unit, and faster the airspeed, is more fatigue. So I'm sure there is a calculation to find the most (objectively) comfortable blower to use.
it’s all depends on what you use it for, i use my blower to dry my car after a wash. i bought the ryobi whisper series and works well. if i were to purchase again i would go ego because they have the stubby nose attachment
This was the best one in a while, Todd! I'm blown away at how thorough you were and how well the graphs were organized. The leaf blower bike was an awesome touch.
Yeah, seeing you so matter of factly announce the bicycle test along with the scientific quantifiable stuff made me LOL. I love the practical applications and measurable data along with the humor you occasionally slip in.
The amount of data in those last charts is staggering, and must have been a real pain to work with, especially considering you release one of these a week! Very impressive!
I'm really proud of this guy!!!!! A legend to the fellow consumer. Time, effort, expertise, funds, etc. to make videos that views suggested. I have bought a few items that I needed in the past including the Ego 765 leaf blower all because of him and I am truly appreciative seeing that they have all performed so well. Keep up the excellent work!!!!!!!
You delivered a great comparison, with far more laughs than expected! I cannot thank you enough for what you do. Considering Ego tools usually finish in the mid-back of the pack, I was not expecting these results. The skateboard race was silly, yet somehow useful; but I really can't believe you found the fastest electric bike, that's not even on the market! 10/10
I think Ego just released this, so presumably they had a target to come out on top. I hope their testing included the bicycle test. I'm pretty impressed with the 36V Milwaukee, looking at the longevity test. Even with two, that's a bit of a stretch for what started as a drill battery.
I'm not sure I've seen one EGO review where it didn't win. I know the string trimmer lost points for him cause the motor is in the head, but removing the guard fixes that
Really want to see battery powered push mowers tested. There's definitely huge differences in performance between brands. And would like to see them all compared to a cheap gas powered push mower (especially since some claim to out perform gas).
@@Foxinthetree it'd be cool if he was able to find people that actually wanna buy a particular one and he'd buy, test it and then hand them off. The torque test channel does that sometimes for their tests but push mowers are probably a bit too big to ship
@@Foxinthetree SEE EDIT BELOW Yeah big investment. Selling afterwards could be an option, as would accepting loaners from other people, though might be difficult to get so many borrowed at the same time, and they'd all be in an unknown used state. Another option might be to make an exception to the "purchased myself" rule and reach out to manufacturers to ask for T&E units he can compare. I'd personally be completely fine with making an exception to his rule in this case. I can imagine a test like this, out of pocket and before resale, costing well over $20k, depending on the number of contenders. edit: For some reason I thought the original comment was about _riding mowers_ but it was actually for _push mowers_ , so that moots my entire comment. He could purchase a really solid lineup of higher end battery powered push mowers for 5k - similar to the cost of a single battery powered riding mower on its own. This should not be too big of a deal.
Superb as always! Hilarious all those blowers attached to the bicycle. I could just imagine what the neighbors thought when they saw you flying down the street. LOL. Thanks for the video!
Agreed. I wish that Hercules and atlas were the same brand tho, seems like harbor freight is stepping it up with those but them being separated by batteries is a mistake. Atlas seems to be doing very well and Hercules has proven solid too
I just bought an EGO (650CFM), it was on sale at $250 with Battery and Charger. It does a great job at clearing pine needles! Thank You for confirming my purchase.
If anyone is wondering about how the Kobalt 80v blower would compare (I have one myself), it is essentially the same as the Greenworks blower tested in the video. Greenworks makes both and the main difference is that Kobalt is just a private label that Greenworks makes for Lowes.
Thanks! I bought an EGO leaf blower a couple years ago and it has served me well. It was my first leaf blower, and I wanted the absolute best one, so I researched for at least 10 hours before deciding on it. I'm glad to see it holds up as your #1 pick! Thanks for an informative and entertaining video!
The bike test was the only test that I didn't realize I needed most of all. My old Toro electric blower is super weak but has been a champ for 10 years now and it's time for an upgrade so I've got that EGO bookmarked. It would be cool to see a follow up video with the top three from this video vs some of the gas powered rivals from Poulan pro, Husqvarna, Echo, etc. to see if they're just as good. I'm willing to bet it'll be closer than people think.
Toros new electric blower is very powerful and uses the same battery system as the snowblower I have from them, making it a good purchase for me. Would have been nice to see it in this lineup
@@mmaimmortals Gas, oil, spark plugs, air filters, carburetors, pull starters/recoils,... Your time to maintain those things/get gas (ethanol free), need a gas can, stabilize it or buy small quantities more often. If you're already on a platform with batteries & you don't need much runtime, they're excellent. It's the same thing with battery powered weedwackers & chainsaws, they all have their place.
@@adamjames1375 I would agree that having the platform makes a huge difference. But I’ve run gas equipment for years and the expense to maintain just isn’t that much. One battery typically costs way more than three or four years worth of maintenance. - about $8/yr gas, $8/5 yrs spark plug, $10 / 5 yrs filter. That’s only $58 in 5 years. Hard to imagine spending that little on batteries for tools used regularly over 5 years. And batteries don’t actually last all that long when used regularly. So, many people can’t compare a cordless drill to a weed eater, when they use one every great once in a while for a few minutes and the other 15 to 20 times a year and run the batteries to near depletion.
My favorite part of all of your videos is the “we’re gonna test that”. Seriously though, thank you for always putting so much effort into creating such quality, unbiased content!
I researched battery leaf blowers primarily for drying my car and truck off after washing. EGO was the best of the pack. Now, in THE most comprehensive comparison test to date, my choice has been justifed. Thanks, Project Farm. Well done.👍 "Very impressive."
Youre way better off buying one made for that, They sell them on autogeek and a lot of other places. Id really recommend against it. Coming from a detailing perspective and a fair bit of EGO experience.
@@solidshark91493 I considered buying a Master Blaster but, I didn't want to buy such a specialized tool. And, I don't really have the room to store it. Plus, I can carry it up a ladder easily to blow leaves, etc. out of the valleys of my roof. The EGO works well for me. Maybe not so much for others.
You know when you put a lot of time and love into making your videos for your viewers when you start to get names mixed up lol. As always you are my go to when it comes to choosing a new power tool! You sold me on the Dewalt weed eater and that’s exactly what I bought. And I am pleased
This has become my go-to channel for reviews before I buy anything. Fun parts aside, these reviews have tons of practically useful information that is just missing from nearly all other reviews.
A lot of fun and sort of scary at the some time trying to stop the bike while getting pushed pretty hard from the blowers. The bike's brakes were at maximum capacity. lol
The leaf blower jet powered bicycle made my day. I couldn’t stop laughing. I really appreciated the excellent quality of the test procedures as I do on all your videos. I predicted the ego was going to be the best from having used one of their string trimmers, which is not a comparable machine but it works so superbly that I based my prediction on the manufacturer
During the EGO introduction, you referred to it as a Ryobi twice. But that minor misspeak aside, you're doing the Lord's work putting out this amazing content with your very very well thought it testing procedures for these comprehensive comparisons.
I've never really given a second glance to the Harbor Freight Atlas series... But I'm pretty impressed by the performance versus price. I've been using the Greenworks 40v system for over 5 years now and it served my needs well. I'll be comparing the Atlas tools to the other options when I get ready to upgrade.
In the Chinese manf. world, there are a handful of big companies that make 90% of all the Big Name brands. HF could sell really almost clones of DeWalts, Makita, Millwaukee or whomever, IF they wanted to pay the additional cost for that quality level. The do this once in a while like they did the with Earthquake Rev. 1 a couple years ago that AvE tore down. A while after, after the PR bump and they sold out, they dinked them back down a couple notches in Cost Engineering, but kept the price. HF has a Marketing Dept. that is pretty smart, they will get an almost identical clone in stock, and compare it the same looking Market Leader in the comparison ads, and people just see that they look the same, but the price is 20% less, so.....
I generally avoid HF power tools because they haven't held up for me in the past. Haven't tried their battery powered products for fear of experiencing the same issues.
I have the atlas 80v lawnmower & weed trimmer plus 40v blower. Let me tell you, i cut my front yard with all 3 and the 1 dual 40/80v battery that i have does it all with sometimes still having maybe half battery when done. Give em a try yall won't be disappointed plus you're saving money so it's already a win win
I bought an EGO leaf blower based solely on this video and could not be disappointed. It is definitely louder than other models (Especially the Ryobi whisper, which I purchased for my mother to use because it was the quietest), but the power and battery life more than make up for the noise. I've had the EGO for about 6 months now and just getting into leaf season. I use my giant backpack blower (Stihl BR 420C Magnum) for the bulk of the large piles, and then hit the edges/cleanup with the EGO and it's a great combo. If my yard was smaller or had fewer trees that shed leaves/needles, I could do it all with the EGO.
Your tests are always amazing. Innovative and puts the tools to real life tests, but still in a very controlled and "scientific" way. And the occational goofing around like the bike ride is a nice treat. Keep up the good work, regards from Sweden.
Best leaf-blower testing video on TH-cam, by far. Highly informative, thorough, and also a little entertaining. Very impressive! On the chart the Atlas seems like a bargain since it shows $80 and finished in the top 5 for all but run-time. Actual cost being $240 makes it less of a bargain. A column showing total cost to buy the tool and battery/charger would be helpful. People who already have that equipment can do the math. Keep up the good work.
Great timing! I was planning to buy a Dewalt blower simply because I'm already bought into the 20Vmax family but this video has led me to consider other names where it looks like Dewalt has come up a bit short on this tool. Thanks for the help!
Get the ego, the big one. The run time is laughable across the board of cordless so I only use it for cleaning the barn out and restarting the burn piles, worthless for yard clean up. but its dang near as powerful as my backpack redmax.
Very enjoyable to watch, and very informative. When I used to own an electric blower, I noticed that the angle and shape of the nozzle made a big difference when blowing leaves. Those who live in the northeast with giant hardwood trees surrounding their homes will require the most efficient blower/tube designs. A gas powered blower may still beat any electric or battery powered unit.
i found this guy when he did the LTT screwdriver review and subbed right then and there. im back watching some videos now, and always check his videos when im looking to buy some tools. legit, the best reviewer of any product I've ever seen.
Since we’re one the topic, I’d like to see you test electric lawnmowers. However, I know purchasing each brand to test would be very expensive, so maybe later on down the road. Either way, love what you do and how in-depth you make all your testing!
I have two of the EGO 530's and I'm happy with them, I did also purchase two of the gutter cleaning kits for the units so I could reach 16 foot when needed. I got them as combo's so the price was right.
Your thoroughness of testing strategy is always stellar. I got a giggle with the tease of your blower powered bicycle, but I nearly busted a gut laughing out loud on the first skateboard trial. You chasing after that first one was priceless! 😂🤣Thanks for the video.
These leaf blowers are getting stronger each year!. More video ideas, dryer sheets, laundry detergent, thermal underwear. Keep up the great work! Really curious how your shop looks, no doubt you have multiple tests going at once.
Seeing you run after the skateboard for the first one had me rolling. Very thorough testing. I wasn't sure about purchasing a Milwaukee leaf blower so seeing how it stacks up was very informative. I might get a Ryobi instead since I bought one of their used push mowers from a friend earlier this year.
I was one of the people that suggested leaf blowers so thank you for a great comparison video! I got the Milwaukee 18v before you made the video but it was a good price and I’m already invested in the platform. I was surprised how weak the 36v Mikita was but I guess their 18v batteries are a little small.
The value you provide in these videos is fantastic. Best channel out there. Would like to see more in the battery-operated lawn tool category, with the Toro Flex-Force line included! Thanks again.
Another great comparison video. Never would have thought to strap them to a skateboard, or a bike. Was hoping the Milwaukee I already would have fared better in the test, but it does what I need it to do for now.
Honestly, they all blow... if you have the Milwaukee, it's fine. Nobody is taking note of how your lawn implements ranked in tests. Just blow stuff around with it and enjoy the convenience of a cordless electric blower that doesn't sound like a Vespa on nitrous.
I had a idea while mowing yesterday, idk if it's been done or not but, a comparison between battery-powered mowers would be neat. Since there's so many nowadays it'd be neat to see how they stack up Same for corded electric mowers, would be cool
+1 for videos regarding electric lawn mowers vs gas, various models from both? Would get good results regarding where the best bang for buck is. Also would learn alot about product fit vs. application. Have a huge lawn? Heres how gas vs. electric stacks up. Have a cordless powertool battery setup already? Here are some of the best options...etc.
I have suggested this before too, I have begun to invest in EGO brand of lawn tools based off other reviewers. So far not disappointed. Got the $800 push mower, blower, weed wacker & pole saw
@@ProjectFarm you're welcome! I had been watching some of your videos before I went to mow the yard and we use a battery-powered mower and the two kinda merged into a idea to suggest lol
I always love your videos, as I believe you're the best content creator on TH-cam. Always great unbiased real world information. I very much appreciate you. As a side note, when you strapped all of those blowers to the bike I laughed out loud. That was hilarious. Thank you, sir.
As someone who uses a lot of tools but is by no means a professional, I’m constantly impressed and satisfied with Ryobi’s price to quality and effectiveness ratio. They’re reliable, surprisingly powerful, and the fact that they will never change their battery system is why I always end up going with Ryobi. If someday I need more professional tools, I’ll buy Hilti.
@@KreemieNewgatt interesting. but bang for buck, Ryobi wins in many categories. I have not had a single battery die on my yet (well, except for one I left out in the rain like a dumbass). I've had many of those batteries for more than 7 years too. Although their prices have jumped in the last few years, still the best deal for the average joe.
@@coppulor6500 i too had 4-4ah batteries for about 8 years, they held a charge well and the tools performed just fine for my line of work. I wish I could've taken them til the time of death, but alas, they were stolen from my work van about a year ago, along with all of my power tools.
Ryobi was very impressive here which was surprising given some of their other products but this is their top-end HP product. Downside is it costs just as much as the others in the top of testing. However it does come with 2x batteries at that price meaning it's effectively cheaper, and for the same money would outlast all of them as two batteries would give around 20mins runtime to the Ego's 15 mins. Also it's much more quiet than the Ego and weighs less. Also you're much more likely to get Ryobi on sale or at a discount as compared to Ego. Does all this while being driven with only 36V to the 50V of the Ego--a 14V disadvantage. As for Milwaukee OTOH--disappointing for the $$$. The M18 is far lower on voltage here than the others so perhaps not very fair in this comparo; but, the newer M18 x2 "M36" costs just as much as the top tools, doesn't come with any batteries at all, and came up below the Ryobi which comes with the mentioned TWO batteries. To get that many Wh of power with the "M36" requires four M18 4.0s. But it gets even more interesting since it was tested here with two *8.0 HO* s which is the same Wh as *both* of the Ryobi "40V" batteries (or a single "40V" 8Ah would be), yet it still only lasted about the same 15m as the Ego. Then should we even mention the HO batts use 21700s? lol The 2824 in theory should win on power and runtime but does neither, and the price is easily the highest here when you factor in batteries. The Milwaukee doesn't even make sense if you have lots of M18 stuff already.
Just bought the Ego650 a month ago...let's see how it rates. EDIT: Well, he tested the newest model instead (I bought the slightly older one because it was at a great price) but I'm happy with it. Unfortunately, I find myself using the Turbo Button a lot to get similar output to my old corded version but you can't beat cordless!
@@Billy.80 I found an old Lowes gift card and decided I'd get a leaf blower. Checked PF and he didn't have a video for them so I checked multiple websites and they all agreed Ego was a top contender. Plus, when I went to Lowes, the Ego 650 CFM was on sale for $30 or $40 off so I left the store spending less than $200 of my own money. I kind of wish I'd got the bigger one but tbh, the one I bought has done everything I've asked of it, which is basically blowing off the porches, sidewalks and garage.
I have come to rely on Project Farm for tool reviews. You've done impact drivers, but I was hoping to get to see something with oil pulse drivers and comparing them to standard impact drivers.
Todd, it would be awesome if you’d do a compilation video of what brand is the best overall for battery operated tools. Buying into the eco system of batteries drives most peoples decision when it comes to these purchases because it is easier when all the batteries work for all the other tools. You might need to have sub categories for example with the brands that offer 12v, 18v, 20v, etc types of tools like Milwaukee. I bought into the Porter Cable brand years ago and now that brand is nearly dead, so I’m trying to figure out what new brand to jump into. Milwaukee seems like they have the best selection but are also the most expensive. Love your videos. Edit: Suggested categories, * Outdoor tools * Mechanics tools * Construction tools * Maybe an overall if you think that would apply.
Todd, in answer to Rob's (and others) suggestion maybe you could do a video compilation of the all the battery powered tools you have already tested to come up with a best brand. It is disappointing though when a brand you have heavily invested in and like starts to lose favor and you can't get new batteries, new tools, or replacements. P-C made some good tools. Sorry to see them declining. We have several battery powered outdoor tools from Kobalt 40V line. Have been very satisfied with all of them.
I'm looking for a leaf blower now. I swear I always consult your channel first before doing further research and making a decision. Thanks for all the work you do!
I wish the XGT blower was in this video, but the bicycle test more than made up for it 🤣 Invaluable work you do for everyone here, as someone who heavily researches my purchases, your videos have come up more times than I can count and have always helped steer me in the right direction all while being as perfectly thorough as I need and even entertaining, thank you.
Thanks! I bought the DeWalt 722B prior to seeing this video because I have some DeWalt 20V tools. I actually got 2 used/refurbed units for $100 each and I'm happy to see the tool is below average compared to the $300 units, but they work well enough and suit my light duty purposes. I also have some Ego 56V stuff and now I know if I ever need a bigger badder blower, to go with the Ego platform.
Given the 2 batteries and the quietness, the Ryobi seems to be the best high-end choice for value, especially since its outright performance keeps up with the other top tiers of the EGO and Greenworks.
I bought an EGO several years ago and still love it. I basically use it every day since my house is under a tree canopy and my deck gets covered daily. My neighbors even sold their plug in blowers and bought EGO cordless blowers since they were so impressed with how strong it was.
So excited for this review as a battery-electric landscaper these tools reviews are so helpful. We’ve been really happy with that Ego! I would love a backpack blower version with Pellenc and new BGA 300 from Stihl.
I think it would be interesting to show how some hand held and backpack carry gas leaf blowers work in comparison. For larger areas not much would be able to best a backpack blower
If it helps I’ve had an echo 25cc gas handheld, a ryobi 40v backpack, an echo pb755st, and the pb 9010. I can answer any questions about them if you want a comparison
@Dr_b_ EGO makes one but it has somewhat lower specs than the 765 cfm handheld. You can put a 10 amp/hr battery in the backpack and it will run for well over 1.5 hrs.
@Dr_b_ In my opinion the lithium backpacks are alright but I was not too happy with the battery life on it. I’d run 2 4ah batteries at once on my ryobi and it still seemed to die pretty quick
We have the Greenworks, mainly because it’s sold at Costco so if it breaks, we know we can return it :) It works very well for most smaller yard uses, but using it on turbo really requires hearing protection and the battery doesn’t last long. It works great for us most of the year, but during the peak leaf season during fall, we do have to charge the battery to do the whole yard (10k sq ft lot with lots of trees) It’s also heavy, use of the strap is pretty necessary unless you’re a body builder
The Atlas blower was the most tolerable lower tone sound without wearing ear protection. From watching other TH-camrs reviews I mostly listened to the sound at full volume and what annoyed me most was the high pitch squeal. Excellent review, thanks.
Good to know I made a good choice in purchasing the EGO blower. Though I would've been fine even without this great result as I'm well invested in the EGO platform with several of their products, most recently their 2 stage thrower. looking forward to some snow. tested the blower out a week ago and it blew around the leaves and debris quite well, especially with a 10ah pack. Why don’t you test the steel?
The leaf blower bicycle literally made why whole day turn around, your tests are unbeatable, unbiased and fun to watch. Thanks for another great video!
I am willing to bet that all men who own a leaf blower have used it as some sort of 'engine' for transportation. Me and my neighbors have raced using our leaf blowers while on a skateboard and yes it was a waste of time but it was fun. In my honest opinion, leaf blower racing should be an Olympic event.
For me it was the skateboard test.
You are welcome!
You are right on all counts! Please do have that great day. You deserve it.
I have used my Ego to clean the house right out the front door, serious.
For a more realistic test, blow the leaves on to your neighbor's lawn. And preferably use the blower early in the morning or late at night.

Or in my neighbor’s case, out into the middle of the road and walk away.
Yeah I’ve got a neighbor like you 😡
I don’t think I’m alone in here with saying I always get amped up when Project Farm drops a new video. His tests are always very thorough and practical with a slight dash of tomfoolery mixed in. Well done!
Thank you!
Whenever I see the new video notification, I'm like, "Ok, what am I buying today"
Question is...how amped? 2? 4 amps?
I couldn’t agree more!!! Informative, interesting and humorous. Love it!

We bought the ryobi blower (40) volt. 170$ at home depot 5 years ago! It’s almost as good as our stihl gas unit!! Fantastic work!! This is the channel for all hard working Americans!🥳🥳😘
I absolutely love this channel. It cuts through all the marketing BS we're all bombarded with on the boxes.
I genuinely appreciate this channel.
Much appreciated!

Yep! Saved me from a few bad choices and saved me a lot of time on many good choices.
Agree. Den of Tools is another favorite along with Torque Test Channel.
The leaf blower powered bicycle is AMAZING. On top of your already top-notch content. It really brought the video together! I love the fact that you put the speedo up there. > 30mph, VERY impressive!!!
VERY IMPRESSIVE!
Wasn’t expecting him to go that fast tbh lol
The 27mph is indeed impressive. The power needed to drive a bicycle down the road rises enormously with speed. The wind resistance goes through the roof. It really takes off in the 20s.
I’m waiting for how the Farmabago will do with 10 leaf blowers acting as a supercharger :) Need so see some 1/4-mile times :)

Right there with you. I look forward to this all week.
I got my Ego yesterday & hoped I would be happy. After watching your video I am.

As with many others, the bicycle test, going 32mph really made my day. I'm betting your neighbors get the biggest chuckle watching you do some of these tests, especially with the farmabago zipping through the field. I love your channel and always look forward to the next one.

Funny thing is IIRC Tech Ingredients did a fan mounted on a bike and not sure why did that much better for all the enginerding.

Same!!! We had to start a toolkit and I’ve been building it with his recommendations for the most part lol.
I’m sure this has been suggested a bunch of times and is also weather-dependent, but a snow blower video comparing gas and electric blowers would be so awesome!

Thanks for the feedback.
My wife bought me an EGO last year after researching for a few hours. Now she feels even more validated!

A leaf blower is something you never knew you wanted
@@beanybeansable Still slower than a grandma with a good rake though. And, with a rake you do much less walking around to get the leafs going in the desired direction.

@@peacefrog0521 testing the difference with nozzles could have been interesting. I used to have a blower that had a wobbling tip, wonder how that would do on a skate board lol

Problem is Ego's customer service is terrible.
You will love the ego mine is more powerful than my dad's gas powered!
I have an ego and love it. its a great tool.
Thanks for the feedback.
That's why I'm DeWalt forever. But I don't use the 60v for leaves, we use it for cleaning.
It's actually a pretty clear thrust-to-weight test. If you're looking for maximum push for the weight you lug around, this test settles that.
The Project Farm content has set the bar for a TH-cam review channel. I’ve yet to see this guy’s equal.

I think Ego just released this, so presumably they had a target to come out on top. I hope their testing included the bicycle test.
I'm pretty impressed with the 36V Milwaukee, looking at the longevity test. Even with two, that's a bit of a stretch for what started as a drill battery.
Most reviews of ego I've seen have generally had it at the top... At least with the mowers, blowers, and string trimmers
I'm not sure I've seen one EGO review where it didn't win. I know the string trimmer lost points for him cause the motor is in the head, but removing the guard fixes that
Useful. My old Echo battery just died. After this video, I bought the Ryobi at home depot . Keep up the good research.

Really want to see battery powered push mowers tested. There's definitely huge differences in performance between brands. And would like to see them all compared to a cheap gas powered push mower (especially since some claim to out perform gas).
Thanks for the suggestion.
That one might get pricey for him, although I suppose he could sell them used afterwards
@@Foxinthetree it'd be cool if he was able to find people that actually wanna buy a particular one and he'd buy, test it and then hand them off. The torque test channel does that sometimes for their tests but push mowers are probably a bit too big to ship
I do think a good battery unit would look good short term vs a gas unit, but I don’t think it could compete at all over the long term.
@@Foxinthetree SEE EDIT BELOW
Yeah big investment.

If anyone is wondering about how the Kobalt 80v blower would compare (I have one myself), it is essentially the same as the Greenworks blower tested in the video. Greenworks makes both and the main difference is that Kobalt is just a private label that Greenworks makes for Lowes.

The battery powered units can’t compete with gas on runtime.
And the cost of batteries over the years can’t compete with the cost of gas.
im curious as to the power vs battery and gas
@@mmaimmortals
Gas, oil, spark plugs, air filters, carburetors, pull starters/recoils,...
@@adamjames1375
I would agree that having the platform makes a huge difference.

Definitely deserves mention for pushing above it's price even if battery cost is excluded.
I have atlas blower, mower, whacker, and pole saw and i like them all.
Thanks for sharing.

On the chart the Atlas seems like a bargain since it shows $80 and finished in the top 5 for all but run-time. Actual cost being $240 makes it less of a bargain.

I have two of the EGO 530's and I'm happy with them, I did also purchase two of the gutter cleaning kits for the units so I could reach 16 foot when needed. I got them as combo's so the price was right.
Great to hear!
Your thoroughness of testing strategy is always stellar. I got a giggle with the tease of your blower powered bicycle, but I nearly busted a gut laughing out loud on the first skateboard trial. You chasing after that first one was priceless! 😂🤣Thanks for the video.
Thanks and you are welcome!
Said it before but worth saying again, you are the BEST comparison reviewer on youtube! Thank you
These leaf blowers are getting stronger each year!.
More video ideas, dryer sheets, laundry detergent, thermal underwear.
Keep up the great work! Really curious how your shop looks, no doubt you have multiple tests going at once.
Thanks, will do! Thanks for the suggestions!
Love this Channel! Never disappoints and great reviews on products!
Thanks so much!
@@ProjectFarm your most welcome =D
Seeing you run after the skateboard for the first one had me rolling.
Very thorough testing. I wasn't sure about purchasing a Milwaukee leaf blower so seeing how it stacks up was very informative. I might get a Ryobi instead since I bought one of their used push mowers from a friend earlier this year.
Thanks for sharing!
I was one of the people that suggested leaf blowers so thank you for a great comparison video! I got the Milwaukee 18v before you made the video but it was a good price and I’m already invested in the platform. I was surprised how weak the 36v Mikita was but I guess their 18v batteries are a little small.
Thanks for being one that suggested this video idea! Thanks for sharing.
The value you provide in these videos is fantastic. Best channel out there. Would like to see more in the battery-operated lawn tool category, with the Toro Flex-Force line included! Thanks again.
Thanks! Thanks for the suggestion.
One thing I'm leaning from your video's is If I'm buying a tool I should reduce the tools rated specifications by at least 10%
I'll keep my 20 year old Eco 2 cycle blower, thank you. Works fine and is the most powerful blower in my neighborhood
Thanks for the feedback.
Another great comparison video. Never would have thought to strap them to a skateboard, or a bike. Was hoping the Milwaukee I already would have fared better in the test, but it does what I need it to do for now.
Thanks!
Since there's so many nowadays it'd be neat to see how they stack up
Same for corded electric mowers, would be cool
Great suggestion! Thank you
+1 for videos regarding electric lawn mowers vs gas, various models from both?
I love my ego mower definitely spend the extra money and get the 10 amp hour battery
I always love your videos, as I believe you're the best content creator on TH-cam. Always great unbiased real world information. I very much appreciate you. As a side note, when you strapped all of those blowers to the bike I laughed out loud. That was hilarious. Thank you, sir.
Thanks and you are welcome!
Thanks for sharing.
The skateboard test was all I needed to see. Your best video yet.
Thanks!
Great choice!
Everyone will try to beat Ego after this test.
I could picture someone coming out with 1000 cfm/300mph soon.
Great test! It would be really interesting to see how these stack up against gas powered handheld and backpack blowers.
Never a disappointment watching your assessments and testing.
Thanks for sharing!
I'm not sure what the bicycle thing was supposed to test, but it was AWESOME! All videos should have this kind of stuff.
Thanks!
I have come to rely on Project Farm for tool reviews. You've done impact drivers, but I was hoping to get to see something with oil pulse drivers and comparing them to standard impact drivers.
Thanks for the suggestion.
Your tests are always impressive and the bike test was just icing on the cake. Great work. 👍
Thanks!
Edit: Suggested categories,
* Outdoor tools
* Mechanics tools
* Construction tools
* Maybe an overall if you think that would apply.
You are welcome! Thanks for sharing.
I wish the XGT blower was in this video, but the bicycle test more than made up for it 🤣
Invaluable work you do for everyone here, as someone who heavily researches my purchases, your videos have come up more times than I can count and have always helped steer me in the right direction all while being as perfectly thorough as I need and even entertaining, thank you.
You are welcome!
Thank you for supporting the channel!
Given the 2 batteries and the quietness, the Ryobi seems to be the best high-end choice for value, especially since its outright performance keeps up with the other top tiers of the EGO and Greenworks.
Thanks for the feedback.
also the Ryobi was a 4 amp vs ego 5 amp battery.
I bought an EGO several years ago and still love it. I basically use it every day since my house is under a tree canopy and my deck gets covered daily. My neighbors even sold their plug in blowers and bought EGO cordless blowers since they were so impressed with how strong it was.
Thanks for sharing.
So excited for this review as a battery-electric landscaper these tools reviews are so helpful. We’ve been really happy with that Ego! I would love a backpack blower version with Pellenc and new BGA 300 from Stihl.
Thank you for the video idea!
I think it would be interesting to show how some hand held and backpack carry gas leaf blowers work in comparison. For larger areas not much would be able to best a backpack blower
Yes! A comparativley priced gas model using the same tests would be great
If it helps I’ve had an echo 25cc gas handheld, a ryobi 40v backpack, an echo pb755st, and the pb 9010.
We have the Greenworks, mainly because it’s sold at Costco so if it breaks, we know we can return it :)
It works very well for most smaller yard uses, but using it on turbo really requires hearing protection and the battery doesn’t last long. It works great for us most of the year, but during the peak leaf season during fall, we do have to charge the battery to do the whole yard (10k sq ft lot with lots of trees) It’s also heavy, use of the strap is pretty necessary unless you’re a body builder
When I used to lickurmumsclit work at a landscape job we would use the gas ones! Much better!
There's no replacement for gas powered equipment.
@@dontblameme6328 iusedtofuckurmumintheass I agree! Gas is best!
BTW, nice E-bike.
