Great video.
Somehow, I can't access your web page to download the Jira Guide. I tried a few links from google as well and no luck.
Thank you for taking the time to create the videos and help us out.
That's so strange, I tried accessing on two different computers and on my cellphone, and I was able to download the Jira guide after I inputted an email address. I recommend trying on a different web browser or computer, and see if that does the trick
1:31:41, Fantastic course! Clear explanations, valuable content. Thank you! I'll definitely share this video with friends or anyone who might benefit from it!
Ehab from Egypt

Wow, cant thank you enough for this very useful video! I have a request and I hope you'll consider it- could you please make a similar video on R4J, I've looked around and havent found anything I like so far. I'll be very grateful if you can or if you can suggest some resources! Many thanks again, Alvin
Sandy, I’m so glad you found my Jira video helpful! Please share the video with a friend and any of your colleagues, who you think might also find it valuable. Thanks also for the suggestion, I’ll add that topic for R4J as a future video!
Hi Alvin. i must confes tha you nailed this Jira clip. you have provided me a robust foundation for my Jira competence. i admire you. just a quick one. in rel life project, you moves the cards on the scrum board from to do, in progress and done. is it the scrum master of the developers.
how can I get in touch with you?
Simple and best tutorial on JIRA, can you create tutorial on reports & JQL
Thank you Raj, will add that to my list of future video topics
Great video Alvin. I have a question. So this Jira is just to track the work and who is doing what and to know the status. However the actual work done could be in their relevant application. Your thoughts?
So glad you found the video helpful!! That's correct, the Jira software is used to help drive visibility into the team's work with the Scrum framework and/or by using Kanban boards. The team members' actual work would be done outside of the Jira software (for example, in the coding language, CAD software, etc). Hope that makes sense
Also, just responded to your previous comment on the PMP Application - good luck with having your PMP Application approved, you got this! 👍
Thank you for taking time to respond to my questions. You are very kind. I can't wait to learn about Kanban and scrumban from your videos. I am subtly making a request.🙏
is it possible to automatically include the Jira issue number as a prefix in the email subject when sending an email out of a Jira issue?
What is the difference between the story and task? When should one use story vs. task? In other words, why did jira provided these two different types?
Hi Alvin, how to clone the Template and edit the name , key and epics.
why we can create different board under the same project? what is it for ??
Thanks @alvin - This is helpful. Couple of questions.
A question on the bug work items in a sprint 1. I thought we need to estimate the SP it takes to fix before adding them in sprint. Is my understanding wrong?
2.) We created components , but how do we use it? Can you please help me understand it?
I'll do my best to answer your questions:
1. You'll usually estimate the SP during your sprint planning session before you move them into the sprint backlog
2. Components are usually created to help out with managing, searching, and filtering out your user stories, so that you don't have to sift through hundreds of user stories. For example, if you have components tied to android,, mobile, and desktop, it'll be so much easier to see who the project lead is for each component, and which user stories are tied to it.
@alvinthepmofficial thanks. Assuming a bug requires an effort to fix it. Do we estimate it and then bring the new users stories to the sprint planning?
Question: at the 1hr:20min mark, I'm trying to add the selected User Stories to the newly created Sprint 1. I'm getting an error stating that "Subtasks can't be moved from their parents on the backlog". Thoughts?
Thanks for the feedback, I'll have to look further into this when I have the chance.
There are few dissimilarities between your video and my jira
I can't find "priorities" in epis, story or anywhere else. Also I can't find "Components".
Why is it happening?
Awesome..However,I.m.not able to download the guide
I've tried downloading the guide on three different computers (PC and MacBook), using different web browsers (Safari, Chrome, and Firefox) and on two mobile phones, and I was able to access the link, input my email, and receive the email to download it. Try using a different web browser or your desktop computer.
If you already inputted your email, please wait a few minutes for the email to show up in your inbox.
Hi Alvin,
Does Jira not save the data automatically? That's concerning!
@bossmel, great question! Let me clarify, since you might be referring to timestamp 1:21:39, where I say "I lost my data." I was referring to the fact that because I had closed my internet browser by accident, I had forgotten where I had left off in terms of what I had filmed and recorded, in terms of prioritizing the backlog. Typo on my part with how I communicated it in my video. I I still pressed "record" on my camera, but forgot where I had "left off". So, to fix that, I had moved things around, and continued filming, showing the steps with how to groom the backlog. I hope that helps clarify any doubts or questions you might have!
To clarify - During the whole time I was filming, I did NOT lose any data inside of Jira. Jira still contained all the user stories, issues, and epics that I had already created inside my project. And, when I reopened my browser, all my data was still there. Also, to provide a little bit more reassurance, from my own experience from using Jira professionally as a Project Manager over the past few years, I haven't experienced the issue of Jira not saving data automatically. It's been a very reliable platform that I use for agile projects. Hope this helps!
Thank you for the clarification. Super helpful! I have used mostly Trello and Smartsheets to date so this tutorial definitely help provide more insight on how I can utilize it for agile/hybrid projects 😄
@@bossmel, awesome, I'm glad I could help out! 😊
Why is the priority section important for a Jira story, task, or bug when I can prioritize it in the backlog?
From my experience, it'll depend on your own preference. For me with how I manage my projects, I personally lean more heavily on how it's prioritized in the backlog, so it doesn't get too overwhelming
@@alvinthepmofficial thank you for answering my question
