    Hey Alvin,
    As a founder and first-generation entrepreneur, I want to extend my heartfelt appreciation and gratitude for the incredibly clear and quick guide on Jira. Transitioning from a student to an entrepreneur, I’ve encountered many software tools that initially seemed daunting, but your tutorial is truly a game changer. I’m thrilled to make it a mandatory resource for both my current and future employees.
    Thank you so much for making this process easier and more approachable!

    If you're watching this video in late 2024 (November), it will direct you to use compass. However, you can turn this option off. If you click on the top right "Compass Components" and toggle the button to switch compass/Jira on and off. Once you toggle it off, you should see what he sees on the screen.
    Also, if you don't see components section in the issue, you will need to configure your settings to include components as a section within the issue.
    Thank you to the creator! Watched this from beginning to end. I was moving through Jira like a PRO and it was my first time.

    Hi Alvin, the video was very clear. Thank you very much. I have a question: Let´s say Peter is assigned to active SPRINT 1 from Project A where he has 3 issues (in different states: to do, on going, done). And is also assigned to active SPRINT 2 from Project B where has 4 issues. Is there a view/board/.... where Peter can see all 7 issues, their state, their corresponding sprint # and project label? Thanks! Bassically, is there a way in which Peter can see (a report, a board, a view, ...) with all issues (tasks, bugs, stories) related to all active sprints from different projects assigned to him?

    So far the best presentation I came across on youtube .👍👍👍
    Does this JIRA Scrum process also register and collect the hours (e.g. : maybe thru the “work log” ? ) that the developers have spent to do their work , so that professional services cost can be calculated for this particular SW/Apps development project ?
    Or will their cost be captured somewhere else in JIRA (e.g. via the Human Resources process) ?
    Thanks.

    Thanks @alvin - This is helpful. Couple of questions.
    A question on the bug work items in a sprint 1. I thought we need to estimate the SP it takes to fix before adding them in sprint. Is my understanding wrong?
    2.) We created components , but how do we use it? Can you please help me understand it?

    • @alvinthepmofficial
      @alvinthepmofficial  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I'll do my best to answer your questions:
      1. You'll usually estimate the SP during your sprint planning session before you move them into the sprint backlog
      2. Components are usually created to help out with managing, searching, and filtering out your user stories, so that you don't have to sift through hundreds of user stories. For example, if you have components tied to android,, mobile, and desktop, it'll be so much easier to see who the project lead is for each component, and which user stories are tied to it.

    • @preethamkumar2112
      @preethamkumar2112 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @alvinthepmofficial thanks. Assuming a bug requires an effort to fix it. Do we estimate it and then bring the new users stories to the sprint planning?

    Thank you for this video. I am new to JIRA so seeing a simple and easy to follow video makes a huge difference. One question. I was recently assigned to a project that already had a JIRA project. The decision was to abandon that old project and create a new one in JIRA. There were a lot of noise and bad design in the original project. However, I do not want to lose some of the data ex. User Stories. Is there a way to export the user stories and import into my new project? or is it easier to link the user stories to the new project? What is your recommendation?

    Great video Alvin. I have a question. So this Jira is just to track the work and who is doing what and to know the status. However the actual work done could be in their relevant application. Your thoughts?

    • @alvinthepmofficial
      @alvinthepmofficial  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      So glad you found the video helpful!! That's correct, the Jira software is used to help drive visibility into the team's work with the Scrum framework and/or by using Kanban boards. The team members' actual work would be done outside of the Jira software (for example, in the coding language, CAD software, etc). Hope that makes sense
      Also, just responded to your previous comment on the PMP Application - good luck with having your PMP Application approved, you got this! 👍
