Nice rip Bot. I had a similar experience with the video on my initial setup. I had the vtx powered from battery voltage and the camera from 5v on the FC. I swapped to powering the vtx via a BEC. I'll see if that clears the video up.

Hey Bot! Just wanted to offer up some advice for your high powered VTX. I put my VTX on a switch on my radio and assign it an aux channel so I can toggle high power in flight. If you have that option setup you could have turned down the VTX and would not have blasted your buddy off the air. Still looking forward to you visiting Maine this season. My garden looks delicious and I have a couple of real long range spots for you to try out with your high power VTX. 20+ km LOS.

@@BOTGRINDER I think you need something like a 3000mah lipo. Or a large capacity Li-ion.
When I fly long range I use the Max distance as my marker, not the round trip distance. The assumption being if you didn't make it back then it was a failed flight. Using the roundtrip distance just makes a normal flight sound more impressive than it really was.
yeah i use the "round trip" distance on short flights so it sounds more impressive for clickbait
@@BOTGRINDER Don't mean to sound mean, but you set me up for disappointment. You are new to long range so I'll forgive you. It's always good to know and trust the gear before you go real far. Another thing I would add is I highly suggest you do a battery current calibration, I find it to be a essential for long range.

What was that Captain Canoli had a 13 turn helical(awesome) ! Probably helped his feed hang in there with the 2.5mlw.

I usually land at 3.2v after you let it sit for a little, even at that it will usually jump up to 3.6v all the time

Firefly with everything unnecessary cut out of the frame and a nameless RC tiny gps. ELRS ep2? The antenna one. And a foxeer lol antenna. That’s really it. 720 mah gnb. Check out catch22mania’s TH-cam he also has more details on similar builds.

So my crossfire rssi does not work without computer and internet .
I chose drones before the computer thing . But one drone makes the tx talk low rssi but it doesnt know me all that well it might just be ssying stuff with no idea what it means .

Vtx like this and AKK ultra 3W (I have this one) is for pilots who don't want to buy expensive antennas ;) Also to fry an egg or heat a drone during flight in Alaska )

I tried this vtx on a 4s with the proper json it performed REALLY POOR, it was a significant reduction of range from the speedybee tx800 it was supposed to replace

but i do 4km with a standar 5invh with tbs nano vtx with no break up at all. and still have some juice to come back and do alittle freestyle on the return lol. you need better batterie and better anthenna

6S is is great for power but not efficient on a long range where you need stamina. On that 7-inch, you can use a big honking 4S battery, 5000 mAH+, it will fly for half an hour. That said, my 5-inch Diatone Roma F5 has done a 7Km round trip with a 1W VTX and 2200mAh 6S Lipo. So pardon me if I'm not impressed with any of this.
ive heard that as well, and i dont think any true long range fan would be impressed by this so next time ill do a true 4km
Not impressive but still fun to watch! But yeah, I also did 7km round trip with a regular old martian, old tbs vtx 800mw and 1 IMRC 8db patch. I did have to double up the lipo for flight time(2x4s1300) but everything else is just basic freestyle setup. No breakup at all.
I tested it with VTX 600, it can fly to more than 2.2km,
So I don't think 2.5W can only fly 4Km..
But testing the long range with a freestyle drone is still fun!

you might not have had the vtx table right if it didnt show you the actual power amount in the osd, i know you run emuflight with no vtx tables but gal kremer posted a video with a link to his correct vtx table
it doesnt have numbers just power levels i assume to throw off the fcc, or maybe its an emu thing

I feel you really should get much longer flight time on that 7". Perhaps that battery is crap? I mean I get 6 minutes of cruising on my not particularly efficient 6" 4S 1550mAh.
