    I like how there are finally lights using remotes. It’s great because it shows that the world is finally recognizing the bicycles are a form of transportation again. Tbh this was probably spurred by the popularity of e-bikes.

      Yes, it's nice to see light setups like this which make turn signals much more prominent. If you also have a Lumos helmet, the Firefly lights also sync with it for a pretty slick setup. You're correct as well, I imagine future e-bike will offer similar built-in solutions. Newer Stromer e-bikes will be offering integration with Unit 1 helmets.

      ​​@@BillOweninOttawai got hit by a car riding a basic 21 speed and sued now I'm getting an expensive e bike and the Lumos helmet and lights..
      He ran me over in a cross walk and I had a concussion and almost died.....was worth it though I hate pedals

      @@TheSweetCyclists And that's what I love the most, many channels goes with "turns on and off and flash really good" but you almost go to "if you want to strap the light with a tape onto the wheel because this and that, it can be solved and looks like this"
      Definitely checking your lights reviews in order to buy new ones

    Did your package include the wireless charger? It is not included now but is sold separately.

      No, the charger cradle is separate and costs $20 currently. You can also charge the Firefly lights with standard wireless chargers so you don't need the charging cradles.

    can you track the firefly lights if it got stolen? does the app has the feature?

      Not that I'm aware of. That would be a cool but without an airtag or SIM card I don't see how they could implement it. Right now you would just have to be within bluetooth range to even detect the lights.

    While interesting i can’t imagine using these or the Reelight Gems over the Knog Big Cobbers, Exposure Blaze and one of their front lights or the Cygolite Hypershot and Ranger. They’re the same price or cheaper while also being hugely brighter. The Knog lights give 360° visibility, Exposure lights have camera like lens quality and Cygolite are ferociously bright. Have you tried any of Blackburn’s bike lights? They’re on the second generation of their really effective orange side lights.

      The advantage of the Lumos Firefly is the Lumos app and turn signal / brake functionality if you buy the bundle or also have a Lumos helmet to pair them with - individually the Firefly lights are too expensive. As you said, KNOG and other brands have better individual lights. I haven't had a chance to use Exposure (I did talk with them at Eurobike but there still seems to be an emailing issue) or Blackburn lights yet.

      All the lights you mentioned arent the same focus, for one. You cant compare lights that are for being seen against lights that are for seeing. These are meant to ALSO be turn signals and brake lights. You also cant expect that added tech of turn signals and brake sensing for the same price. Comparing apples and oranges.

    I think they blew it on the charging system. Should be one dock that charges all 4 units with just one lead-in power cable to the dock. They should simplify this as a front & rear blinker set in sinc with the fob, and scrap the app. At least that is what I would want to buy.

      Lumos actually sells a quad charger that uses a single USB cable (see th-cam.com/video/FM-sPPvCao4/w-d-xo.html). It's about $20 more and makes charging them a lot easier than swapping them in/out of the single cradle.

    Everyone is saying they are easy to set up and I’m struggling. Very frustrating. Too many features and the lights change colour and speed every time I switch them on again. Very confusing.

      It's meant to be placed on your handlebar near your grips so you can easily access it.

    Have you found the braking to be accurate? I was interested in getting the "Overade TURN & OXIBRAKE" simply because of the way its braking is implemented with a slip on that goes over your brake lever.

      The brake sensor calibration is good, but as with any accelerometer setup it will have false positives. I would say it's better than not having it, but it's still not a fully bake feature.

      @@TheSweetCyclists Its not an accelerometer tho. Did you look at the product closely? The entire premise of the product is squeezing the brake lever to activate the brake light instead of using an accelerometer. Its not for calibration.

      Sorry - I meant the Lumos light's accelerometer based brake sensor has decent calibration. The Overade product is a cool idea that avoid using sensors to guess if you are braking. Hopefully other companies start to use it or Sram / Shimano add some built in integration directly into their levers so you don't have attach an additional part to the lever.@@OptimusSatanas

    On the app I seen there was a spot to add the lights so they could be just a signal light. Is it possible to add two lights to one spot so say I need a front and back right signal can I add two lights to that spot without them having to light up.

      I don't think you can assign multiple lights per spot. However, all the lights on the left side (Front left / left / rear left) would all signal together that should achieve what you want.

    If only this didnt need an app. I really wish all these devices which require an app to use had some sort of legislation that prevented companies from just abandoning the software. or some sort of regulation that forced them to make it open source if they werent going to support it anymore.

      Yes, that's the big risk of many new "smart" products. They will only be functional as long as the company continues to update the software. Europe has been pretty good about preventing "planned obsolescence" as so many of these products end up in landfills after a few years of use.

    Interesting lights but only to be seen with and not so much to actually see.

      Exactly - these are be-seen style lights that keep you visible. They would be adequate if you ride in well lit urban areas, but their better as a supplemental light to keep you visible and they have a lot of cool features such as turn signals and single button shutoff.

      Uh...Duh? No one ever said these were to replace a headlamp to see with. Im using an Outbound Detour Bike Light to see, and want people to be able to see me. Very few lights, if any, are designed to provide light to be seen and see with. They are generally designed for one or the other because the focus is so different (pun intended).

      I would definitely wait for a sale or try to buy them second hand, at $50 a piece they are pretty pricey.

    Lumos is the equivalent of the bike version of Apple. Everything just extremely overpriced.

      Well yeah, but there isn't really any alternative to lumos products. You can name some products, but they lack either some functions, or level of experience

      @@Efkas While that might be true, you are better off either making your own (if you are skilled at doing so) or just buying cheap turn signals and brake lights and a helmet all separate for like 1/4 of the price. Cuz i bet you Lumos products cost only 1/3 of the price to make them.

      @@DiamondRB I can't disagree. That's why I mentioned "either lack in user experience". I don't day it's justified - I just state that some people are ready to pay for some functionality, but in a better and more seamless package a much higher price, than it actually costs

      @Efkas Yeah. That's also why Apple is so wealthy. Not only do they have these products they also enforce a sort of ecosystem. Forcing people to buy more, because if they don't they will have to make significant changes.

      The only other justification I can see besides gear-lust is maybe supporting the idea of smart helmets and lights, and building a market for better ideas to come
      None of the light up helmets I’ve looked at are great or at all cheap, but maybe being an idiot early adopter will help them get better and cheaper?

      I don't believe that is possible, you have to individually power them on and off from the button on the light. The synchronized shutdown is pretty convenient to turn off all the lights with one touch.
