I have and am still using the original MIPS Lumos helmet that was part of the Kickstarter campaign. Unfortunately, the delivery of the helmets from the campaign was very delayed. However, I still enjoy using it. Your comment about the strap adjustment needing fiddling often was certainly a problem with the original design. Fortunately I have never needed to “road test” my helmet. 😁
Thanks for this comprehensive review. I am getting an e-bike and will definitely ensure I have eye protection after seeing what happened in your accident. 😮
I don’t have an e-bike…just a regular Cannondale road bike…but I bumped up to a helmet designed for ebikes simply because it’s my understanding that they offer greater protection than the standard road bike helmets. Love mine!
@@crimsonwring2723 well, I have both…a road bike helmet with the wave cell technology (Bontrager) and the Lumos Ultra. I’ve used both on a ride,to,test the weight difference and really found none. They e-bike helmets are surprisingly lightweight However, the Bontrager with more venting was cooler (I live inFlorida so that makes a difference). But the integrated lights…the little sun visor…that makes me really reach for the Lumos…also they’re having some good Black Friday sales 💜🔥
👍👍I also have 2 Lumos "Ultra" helmets with the visor and bugnet! One of the helmets also saved my face in a fall! Only one rib was broken anyway! I also installed the Fireflys with the Lumos holder on the rear of my TREK ebike as well as the large remote! And that makes me feel much safer! What I find very sad is that the new "EBIKE" helmet is only available in one size, but I would need XL !!! Greetings Thomas from southern Germany !!!
I have the latest firmware and my UEB is synced with Firefly’s there is no more turn signals auto cancel. I think they removed that feature unfortunately.
@@IK77 thanks for the update, i pref to not have a time limit(even if it beeps/not) as there are times I need to inform cars/motorcycles that im making a left turn once the red light turns green.
A Luddite who thinks apps should be an afterthought...particularly for folks who don't have sillifones. My kinda guy! Why must I pay $XXX monthly just to use the features of a helmet I'm paying hundreds for already??? If it can't be configured "off line", I don't want it.

I have one and love it. The visor fits over my glasses.
Very comprehensive review, dude- thanks!

How is the weight on a road cycle position? I’m considering the e-bike version as well…but don’t want it to strain my neck.

Great video and what a testimonial to the importance of wearing a helmet. I wear glasses so I think I would get the helmet without the visor.
Love the review!
Just a technical question for the turning signals how long does is stay in the turn signal mode?
