I played Crisis Core on psp when it came out and I’m currently playing the remake and to be honest I think the new VA is doing a slightly better job than the old VA. My personal opinion is I think they directed the new VA differently than the old VA to give him a more innocent puppy personality.
@@ShilohLux.13 There's no such thing as "better" when Rick sets the standard. (Well actually the Japanese VA did) but the new VA is just way to soft-spoken and nasally in his delivery imo. Like. it just doesn't sound good at all and he's just reading the lines on the promptor with no connection to what's being said. This is espesially apperent in scenes where zack and cloud interact later on in the game and Zack by that point is supposed to sound more mature and hardened from everything he's gone through, not still like the new recruit. So yea no, maybe celeb isn't terrible in general as a voice actor but he is a poor shadow for Rick, and would be better having a new character he can really make his own.

If wasnt just Zack who got a new voice actor, (fairly sure anyway), but they also updated the Sephiroth vs Genesis cutscene, they changed some dialog and i feel as though they Nerfed genesis dialog wise as he sounded better in the original with his Shakespeare like mannerism with how he speaks.
They also changed some lines as well for them, one of the most notable changes being during the same cutscene i mentioned, being.
Angeal's line "Stop! you will destroy us all!".
"Stop you will destroy this place!".
I haven't finished Reunion yet but i did finish the original in i think 2011 if not 2012, so i haven't seen all the changes quite yet.

Thanks for the breakdown, especially liked you highlighting how Zack essentially weaponizes his memories. I haven't played the new one yet, but planning on it, likely the Japanese dub. I keep wanting to be evenhanded with the new guy, and I am satisfied with the delivery when he returns to the church in the expansion pack. However, whether because of the new VA or the director, it's really hard to get into the narrative with the voice choices being made. I'm looking forward to a more direct translation, but Rick really showcased how much an exemplary VA can carry the script and the character.

@@Gigantichalo54 not really tbh even when I've seen people complaining they still give the new guy a fair (heh) shake and say the director is trash and doesn't know what he's doing. Not really sure why so many are so willinging to impale themselves on a sword defending his talent. Had fucking no clue who he was before all this drama

I picked it up 16 hours in already and loving every second of it I played the original and loved it
Ah so you picked it up late too, I got the game yesterday and it’s been a blast. I had just finished the original and thought might as well play crisis core

@@leepaul07 nice, I chose to play it on Xbox and it surprisingly runs very well. A very fun game to play for sure.

Yeah zack s new voice is bad gusse these people never heard the voice acting in resdint evil ps1 and silent Hill 2 voice acting compared to this i say criss core remake have much better voice acting than the these 2 games
