    Thanks for the video. Genuinely,had Never seen a lecture on this topic of such kind. The diagrams of nozzles,rotor and blades used is the uniqueness of lecture.
    Thanks for the effort.

    sir, in case of velocity compounding, velocity of steam has reached to its maximum in first stage itself, but since rotor speed is not equal to the speed of rotor intended(optimum pressure) for harnessing maximum energy(since rotor is kept lower intentionally) . so there is loss of energy in first stage, which could have been absorbed. but in subsequent stages the harnessing may be improved due to matching of lowering velocity of steam to that of corresponding optimum rotor speed required.
    is it correct understanding?

    I think you made an error in the math. U = 1200 * Cos(20 degrees) / 2 = 1127.6 / 2 = 563.8. You forgot to divide by 2.

    • @Dr.AmitMandal
      @Dr.AmitMandal  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

  • @SiddharthMishra1993
    @SiddharthMishra1993 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Uopt = C1COSa1/2 .is coming to 563.8, not 1127.
    it's coming 1127, if you don't divide it by 2.

    in first stage, steam loses. its entire pressure and velocity shoots to suppose 1200m/s and. therefore. corresponding. optimum velocity is 1127m/s, but the speed of rotor is kept lower, so there is loss in energy absorption as there could be absorbed more, let suppose absorbing. potential. is 25J but have absorbed only 20J. is it not a loss in velocity compounding, however it may be small.

    • @Dr.AmitMandal
      @Dr.AmitMandal  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ya but absorbing maximum power with lower rpm is the goal ,in overall there is benifit...

    • @pratikdedhia
      @pratikdedhia 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      This problem is solved in pressure compounding, where we get the same inlet steam velocity for all stages. Talking about velocity compounding since each stage receives different(subsequently lower) inlet steam velocity, reducing the diameter subsequently for each stage (with same rpm) might solve the problem but I don't know if that's actually the case or that method will not cause any other problem.

    Bro, why in velocity compounding first blade does not absorb all energy?
