Wonderful devices. Terrible music! I had the honour of spending a day each with GEC’s high pressure and low pressure turbine divisions in Rugby and Trafford Park respectively. Four storey high machine tools, massive turbine casings and of course, blade machining. Alas, Trafford Park closed I believe.

Finally this turbine was rejected because of a faulty gearing. Had to start over again...
wtf?!?! REVERSE ENGINEERING why not just buy turbine blades from the manufacturer?
Cost, typically. Like many other things in life, aftermarket tends to be cheaper than OEM for blades (and there are tradeoffs for that lower cost).
Some steam turbine were build a long time ago and their manufacturer are no more. Only way to maintain it is to do a reverse engineering process.
Yes, sure just go to the blade market or better via internet just request all you need ...........
