The green mailboxes are relay boxes, they are used to store mail for mail carriers on their routes so they don't have to lug around a ton of mail. The blue ones are drop boxes.
Such a fun video! My favorite part was the story of the lens guy. Second favorite was the banter between the two of you and third were the out takes of course!
@29:04 though I have lived in NYC before, this whole episode has me recalling Seinfeld references as in George with the pigeons saying “we had a deal!” 😂
It's great to see you guys in New York and get your perspective on it having had so much travel experience in other places. I'm from the US, but I haven't been to New York yet, but this video makes me want to go check it out.
I just came back from New York City, and i have to say it was a really interesting experience coming from someone from rural Maryland. I didn't get a slice of pizza while I was there (sacrilege?), but my girlfriend and I did try a lot of local food. I really enjoy your content Kyde and Eric. Keep it up!
Interestingly, these black and white cookies 🍪 also exist here in Germany 🇩🇪. Here they are called "Amerikans" (Americans). They existed before World War II. Incidentally, they also existed in East Germany before 1989 too. Many thanks for an exciting New York 🇺🇲 video.🙇🏻♂️👍🏻 PS: The monkey in the Ferrari was really cool.😄
Eric, that was a neat story about Ghollam Nikbin, and that things worked out for him. Glad you shared it. I've never been to NYC (outside of the airports) and found your enthusiasm for it gratifying, in that the city seems to have gotten its act together. It probably helps that you don't have to pay for a place to stay. Thanks for sharing!
really great video, so nice to see you guys enjoy your time in NYC. a note that bug you feature at the opening of the video is a spotted laternfly and NYC encourage new yorkers to smash those things because they give bad bites and kill trees! If and when you return to NYC please check these free places. 1. Gansevoort peninsula (at sunset) pier 57 rooftop 2. the elevated acre 3. tear drop park 4. irish hunger memorial (it's a cool little rock/irish landscape in the middle of the city) 5. walk the manhattan bridge, travel through brooklyn bridge park then through the brooklyn bridge good pizza "Artichoke" pizza on 14th st. and 10th ave, also broadway also for etiquette for the bathroom woman, tell her to "get f*cked!" thanks
I hope you two got to Absolute Bagels on the upper west side while you were there. Also, better than the plain is the egg bagle; it's like the plain but often softer in the "crust."
I must have asked 30 or more camera people and no one knew of this place, wish I had found it while we were there. Interestingly enough there is a shop with the same name in Tokyo!
I just got back from Japan and you guys are in my hometown of New York. Any viewer meetups planned if you’re still in the city? I’ve been enjoying you guys’ content since the beginning.
@@kydeandericaww so sorry to have missed you guys. Would be great to attend a viewer meetup the next time I’m in Tokyo if that’s something you guys do. This past trip I went to a TH-camrs bar in shibuya and another TH-camrs standup comedy show. I think you guys have the best job in the world. 🎉
Florida in the 80's / early 90's. We just called it the bus or school bus. Never heard anyone ever call it "The Cheese". Wish we had a nickname for it.
Hey, guys - great to catch up with another installment of your travels. Hope you're well, and _didn't_ get caught between the moon and... (oh shut up!)
The story about the Iranian bloke was so cool. It really fits with everything I've learned about people from the middle east in my life, some of the most hospitable and kind people. Just letting you into his home and telling you his story was beautiful.
Head to 80 Wooster Street, where my fellow Lithuanian expatriates Jurgis Mačiūnas and Jonas Mekas began the history of the now legendary SoHo artist lofts. 🌿
When the door is in public, unlocked and there is no way of seeing what's inside. I don't think you need to knock. I would assume an unlocked bathroom is vacant.
New Yorker here. Only three bagels are acceptable: everything bagel with a schmear of cream cheese or poppy seed bagel with a schmear or sesame seed with a schmear.
I don't get the hype with Bagels, I really don't. I even went to Russ & Daughters when it first opened in the morning, and got the Lox. It was just chewy bread and nothing that made me want to go back again. It was underwhelming to say the least.
Having lived in NYC before in my opinion it’s a great place to visit but a terrible place to live in if you aren’t wealthy. Driving is nightmare, lots of traffic, tolls everywhere, small expensive apartments, good food though. Ps stay clear of the “Jamaica area” bad neighborhood

Long Island, NY and western PA, never heard the bus called the cheese. Sorry guys.
the cheese is life
Thanks Kyde and Eric for another great video loved it
That picture you took of Kyde sneezing was hilarious! What a capture 😂
What a great series this is! The theme music brings back memories of your earlier travel days for certain. Thanks for sharing your travels with us!
Thanks for coming along!
B&H Photo is in New York, the most well known camera store.
Yes, I went there and they didn't have anything worthwhile vintage nor did the staff have any idea where to send me. -E
Oh wait…the photography is always awesome. ❤
(15:29) When _I_ went to school, it was on the 'Short Bus'
lol
I can't believe you guys are back in the states!
I love how Kyde is telling you a weird NY story and you immediately outdo her by "I saw a monkey in a Ferrari!" lol. So NYC!
It’s so weird seeing y’all in a place other than Japan! How exciting 😊
I'm now heavily invested in this camera lens quest.
Where I grew up, I just called it the School Bus..lol. 🤷
you guys make an awesome couple. Great videos

I called the school bus... the school bus. Or the bus.
HAHA no, did not call it the cheese in Nashville.
@ Kyde, this bathroom girl story is crazy. Seems like she was in some kind of Trance' not doing anything but standing or on phone... DAMN 🤔

Having lived in Japan for 14-ish years now did you guys encounter any reverse culture shock heading back to the states?
of course, endlessly.
Coming from Tokyo, did you guys experience NY as ridiculously expensive?
Oh yea, it's insane.
Do you know the connection with Little Island and the Titanic Ship?
i dont think so
Any interest in a Soligor or Enna-Objektive? I will be in Japan next November.
