I love how half the characters get knocked down once and the ref calls the match right after the special animation. They know they are not coming back from that.
Or how the ref calls the knockout before they actually fall

That's the difference between a KO and a TKO: a regular KO is when the opponent is unable to get up before the count of ten, a TKO (technical knockout, not TOTAL knockout as most people think) is decided when the referee, manager, ringside doctor, etc. determine that the opponent is unable to continue.

God, Aran ryan is literally the waluigi of the punch out series
Down to the cheating and body type aspects, only Aran is a bit toned up from his routine.

You know you’re unbeatable when you can beat a man who launches bulls into the sky for fun, a literal Hollywood Star, and the World Circuit Champion who literally beats everyone else into the ground.

I love the attention to detail on star punches. Whenever you pull it off, you can see the opponents have a moment of regret when it happens.
Can we just acknowledge how crazy strong Little Mac is?? At 10:03 he launches Soda into the air at least 5 feet from one uppercut. Soda is like what 6’5 200+ pounds right? Like god damn

I like that Mr. Sandman isn’t necessarily a villain but
he pulls looking intimidating off that makes him look like
a scary game villain, and his “put you to bed” thing makes it
much better and more intimidating, the fact that you can also hear
your bones break as he hits you makes it look like he can kill you
*even if he didn’t try to.*

Ignore the thing above, instead focus on this edit since it is cleaner.
Earlier opponents had unique sound queues (Not counting voice lines) and movements before throwing their punches, not Sandman. He's a clean boxer. Not to mention, you can literally hear your bones break after every punch is landed on you.
And once you knock him down, there's this bassy sound that plays as he's trying desperately to just walk off the punch before inevitably falling down. If you listen closely, you can hear a little music box that plays right as he falls! That means you put this guy to sleep instead.
While he's taunting he literally acts like he lets his guard down, until you go in for a punch: he quickly dodges it, unless you manage to hit him on his "Boo!"
On his knockout, as he falls over on his head first, it sounds like metal, screaming "THAT'S HOW TOUGH HE IS, MAC BABY!" in your face.
True, but he is a villain (or just an asshole). His title defense cut scene has him destroy a building in rage, just because he lost to little mac

In Piston Hondo's Title Defense he also has a infinite stun but you can only punch him with right jabs, and the clock will still be at unstunned speed, while you're hitting him with right jabs, I found that out from this video th-cam.com/video/HMmveohQXSc/w-d-xo.html .

I love how the ring themes are changed to sound like the country the fighters are from
It's a really nice touch. Kinda like NSMBU and its hub world theme
it's a total crime that they omitted Mario as a refereee. The game feels too americanized, character designs are hit and miss. Plays great though! and title defense was just awesome. But there's something missing from the presentation that i can't put my finger on, and the soundtrack was kind of iffy...Plus, the boxing rings are usually dismal and lifeless. I think Super Punch-out!! has aged much better in the visual department.

Mario blended in perfectly in the NES original. I dont know, I feel NextLevl once again was off the mark with the art direction. It just doesn't feel like a JPN game, or the route the big N would of taken. I personally would of loved to of seen some sort bizarr Will Vinton styled claymation aesthetic
When I got the notification I only read Nintendo and I was like “No way punch out on the switch” and then I read the rest and was disappointed about no punch out on the switch but was happy to see a Nintendo unity upload

Not gonna lie, Mr. Sandman has my favorite intro in Contender Mode. Him walking to the ring with the screen shaking each step when closed in on him, Doc Louis looking extremely nervous and possibly scared, like he's about to wet himself and Little Mac is like "Alright, let's do this thing!". There's just something I really absolutely like about that intro.
That Don Flamenco fight reminded me of how I first beat him in Mike Tyson's Punch-Out. I was the first one in the house to figure out the whole countering thing.
...Granted, I was also the oldest person in the house interested in the game, but still. It felt so good to finally bring the bastard down.
