McLeod is ranked as the 2nd fastest skater in the NHL. I don’t know if I like the trade for Savoie but our bottom 6 will be very fast and could be quite good. Plus he’s 6’3” so we have even more size on the team. The prospect we got in the trade is also further along.

The hot takes from the fanbase are laughable. "Make a trade, Kevin!!!" Kevin makes trade. "RREEeeeeee, not that trade!" The Sabres STILL have a very good prospect pool without Savoie, and they've added some help for the immediate future rather than waiting on Savoie. Savoie will probably be a good player IF he stays healthy, but Adams has stuck with his offseason plan and appears to have done a good job with it so far (and they have 10 picks in next year's draft, so the pool will still be very full). Lighten up, folks.

Savoie did NOTHING SPECIAL in his time with the big boys. He was redundant to what we already have. He'll probably be a Donald Audette when he finally gets to the NHL full-time. We needed a big 3rd line center who gets to come back home (MIssisauga). This is a good move.

Coming from a Canucks fan, you guys have a shot at being a playoff team next year if some of your top guys return to form and Luukkonen continues his good play in net. The additions of Zucker, Malenstyn, McLeod, Lafferty and Aube-Kubel, provide some good role players. Zucker. Macleod Greenway- 3rd
    Malenstyn. Lafferty Aube -Kubel
    Krebs and Rousek spare forward.
Macleod is a good on the PK and good on face offs- 50% win rate ! Plus hes one of the fastest skaters in the NHL !
Have to give something to get something . I watched Tullio when he was in Oshawa and he was a liitle ball of hate , reminds me of Dale Hunter or Claude Lemieux. He will take on anybody, he went after 6'6 Kevin Bahl when he was in Ottawa.
Remember Savoie will need at least 2 yrs in the AHL and he better bulk or he will get injured AGAIN. Great move Kevyn! Thanks for the video!

McLeod plays small for his size. Doesn't like to go into the corners or hard areas. Won't drive the net enough considering his speed. Doesn't have much finish. Good for 10-12 goals a year.
Is Fast, fairly good in the faceoff dot against lower competition. Is a decent penalty killer but pretty much lost is job on the PK as the season went on. But what sealed his fate was the playoffs. Every oiler found another gear and ground it out, except for him. In 56 playoff games he has 7 goals and is -13 and 49% in the dot. And this year was just more of the same, he looking like he was just along for the ride.
He's turning 25 this summer and this is his peak. 4th line center on a good team, 3rd line center and PKer on a weak team.

What do you call the 10+ years of nothing we've had in Buffalo? Something worse than "Decade of Darkness" - so what?
Every year I choose a team to follow in the playoffs, but I've never fallen in love with one of them like I did with the Oilers this year. They are also FUN to watch.
So now I have two teams.
It would've been smarter to bring up Savoie and play him this year rather than make this trade, ffs. They should've traded Benson and/or Krebs and pick(s) for a top 6 player. That's what we lost. We lost 2 top 6 players for a collection of 4th liners and 1-2 3rd liners.
I don't have faith Krebs or Benson will be top 6 material this year or next year. Savoie would've been our (very near) future.
This trade makes us worse, outside this single year. You think we're gonna win the cup this year? No. This was a massive failure of a move. Buying out Skinner without a replacement for our top line was a bad move. Peterka belongs on the 2nd line.
I love what we did for the bottom 6, which has nothing to do with either of these terrible moves. But being "tougher to play against" without scoring more goals isn't going to mean much.
I can't defend this anymore. I've been doing it since our Presidents trophy team disbanded and I can't anymore. So now I'll go for my doses of pain watching Buffalo and get my fun watching the Oilers.
At least I can watch Sabres players I love win Cups somewhere.

@@gootvansquid They tried to make deals they just didn't have any. They wanted to do more trades, but no bites. I also would not want them signing Stamkos for 11 mil to get him to come here. That would be Hall all over again. This team getting swept in the first round would be huge for the organization. Also the last time Edmonton went to the finals the next decade did not go well. Not saying that will happen, but things come up

@@Buffalosabskis I know. And I would rather have a team built on prospects and hard-working guys than overpaid free agents who don't want to be here.
I have no doubt the Oilers are going to be a very fun team to watch this coming season. I'm excited to see what Skinner can pull off there. Was very sad to see him go.
I really think we should've waited another year to buy him out. Skinner-Thompson-Tuch was a great line. With no one to replace him, our top 6 got worse while our bottom 6 got better. I do love the look of our bottom 6 now (I loved it before this McLeod trade. I don't think it was necessary at all)

Bro shut up u don’t trade away a guy with the potential to be a 90 point number once center for a number three center. Yeah he makes us better now but this move and winning us a cup so who cares

He's not that good. Otherwise he'll have more accomplishment then a dominating playoff as a D+2.
His ceiling is closer to top line left winger, then franchise center. A better version of JJ Peterka. And even then, that's his celling. For all we know he could be Joel Armia.

Would you say that if Oilers traded McDavid as a rookie for a 3rd/4th line center and 4 random AHL guys?
      No...
