The victim of this alleged "crime" didn't talk about it publicly until 12 years after the fact. There weren't any criminal charges laid, let alone a trial with a guilty verdict. Bowman, in the middle of the Stanley Cup Finals (2010) believed his overbearing boss and Blackhawks' President , John McDonough, when he said he was "looking after it". The video coach was forced to resign by Blackhawks' HR department about 2 weeks after Chicago won the Cup.

Bowman! As an Oilers fan this breaks my heart. We have the best fans in the world, as a reward we are stuck with this heartless monster that covered up and protected a sexual predator, allowing them to offend again and again. Until this man is fired, my wallet and support are shut off to this organization. I'm not watching a single game, buying a single jersey, or supporting them publicly in any way. Some principles cannot be compromised, and I will never support those that allow young men to be assaulted by protecting the predator. any one that stands up for Bowman is a clown and should be treated like a clown. disgusting on so many levels. shake you head Seravalli Jeff Jackson Kats or any one that supports this guy should never be in pro sports own a team or speak on a media platform ever again, and if any one think he deserves a second chance, then there also a clown.

Publicly, Jackson would have to say that he hadn’t talked to the Oilers’ key players. McDavid wouldn’t be comfortable with the perception that he’s running management. I think there were some conversations between Jackson and key players about it, after some due diligence by Jackson to vet Bowman’s progress since Chicago. Did I like the choice? Not really. Do I believe that Jackson has the team’s best interest at heart? Yes.
We can’t go from looking at Jackson like a genius for the trades he made and then question everything based on this hiring.
When the Evander Kane situation was happening, the fans were very divided about the prospect of having such a “controversial “ player on the team. We will have to see. Maybe the public pressure will be too much.

You obviously haven't done your "homework". The much-touted "sexual assault" consisted of a single instance of supposedly coerced oral sex. The Blackhawks were in the 2010 Stanley Cup Finals at the time which they eventually won. Bowman's overbearing boss, John McDonough, informed him that he would "look after it". About 2 weeks after Chicago won the Cup the video coach in question was forced to resign. In the midst of a successful Stanley Cup Final Bowman believed his boss when he said he was looking after it. Ok so hear me out.i believe everyone deserves a second chance is life, as life can be a bitch at times. Yes I do believe this was a very bad hire after seeing what JJ was doing the last couples weeks on his own but IMO He didn’t need to rush into this and I believe that Bowman should’ve gotten a roll for at least one year in the minors or some sort assistant to the GM position before getting the keys to best “oiled” machine there is.

At the very least, this adds an unneeded narrative on an extremely sensitive subject. At the worst, this is the beginning of the end. The truth is somewhere in the middle and ultimately the players will decide if this was a good move or not. It's really cup or bust now.

If Jackson believes that Bowman is the best candidate available and that Bowman is sincere in making amends, then not making this move because of controversy would be weak. Real leaders make tough decisions that they believe are the best choice, even in the face of controversy. If Sheldon Kennedy endorses it, why can't Oiler fans? Life is complex. Craig MacTavish was hired in a controversial move and was Mr. Oiler's player, coach, and GM. It created incredible loyalty and effort in C.M.

The thing that really bothers me is that Bowman hasn't accomplished anything in the NHL. He inherited an amazing Blackhawks team that won a few cups and he arguably made them a worse team over the years after that. I don't care about whatever happened in Chicago to cause him to be kicked out of the NHL. That's in the past, but seriously his actual GM track record blows more nuts than Jenna Jameson in her prime.

If you understand what I mean, money was used and media was used to cover up symptomology to hide causality so we have like it or not 100% let down the memory and spirits of all those who passed and survived.... If the Oilers wanted to do things the right way and properly embed Bowman into the Community they could... why they dont is anyones guess....maybe they just cant figure things out huh?
