    Absolute epic effort, you are braver than me by miles.
    I couldn't face drilling holes in my baby, or messing around trying to get it right - so I saved up and booked her into a specialist fitter and had a planar heater fitted. I have to say it is the best piece of kit I have had added to her, warm as toast when you need to be. The only difference I can see, is the people who fitted mine hooked it under the van, and it takes it fuel from the main diesel tank. (I have no idea if that is a good thing or not).
    Keep up the excellent work.

      Cheers bud, yeah I was super scary, almost as scary as the pop top 😂😂! I think the way you have had it done is more convenient having it in the main tank (just one filling hole) and underneath also means its out-of the way... I may grow to regret installing it where I have but for now its keeping the van warm and toasty and thats priceless 😂

      @@Yorkshirepoptopadventures My view is hats off to you - you are braver than I am. And if it does the job, who cares where it is fitted if it works. I just wasn't brave enough to start drilling holes in the van - and wanted someone who understood the situation.
      I would have potentially procrastinated far more than you did, and drunk more coffee. lol.

      Good to see you can install a heater like this later on in the process and it's not connected to the main diesel tank. We are a bit behind you. We've just insulated, ply lined the floor and fit the bed but it's all very unfinished. It's hard knowing what to do next when it's bare bones and it's your first time.

      @@Yorkshirepoptopadventures sounds like a plan 🍻🍻👍👍
      Just a couple Q’s.
      Did you wire directly to the leisure battery?
      When the seats are flat does the heating pipe just blow warm air out under the bed? If so the missus will love that 😂
      Finally you linked fuel pipe, did it not come with enough?
      Cheers 🍻

    • @Yorkshirepoptopadventures
      @Yorkshirepoptopadventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@darrenmaloney810 hiya buddy....
      1. Yes you should always wire directly to the battery (no switch in between, just a fuse rated for the correct amps). The unit has a set shut down procedure and if not followed it could damage the unit ie switching it off via a switch while itz pumping at full blast.
      2. Yes so, the pipe goes far enough forward to push the air in to the cabin area, but with the bed down it blows underneath the bed. I'm just sat on the bed now with it ticking over and its super warm all over the van (it will also keep the underneath of the bed from getting damp)
      3. Im not sure what you mean about the fuel line. It comes with a green fuel line that's (apparently) not very good so get swapped out for a better one. Ill be doing that once it arrives.
      Hope this answers your Qs buddy

    You could have fitted it where VW factory fit them underneath on a stainless bracket. I painted conformal liquid on the circuit board to protect it from the elements.
    Air comes in from a Webasto vent in the drivers door step and blows out between the drivers seat and kitchen units.
    Pump is on a rubber mount with Eberspacher 90 degree bends to reduce the ticking and the whole pump is in a silicone case.
    A turret plate would have helped you where you fitted it. I think you will regret not tapping directly into your vans diesel tank. Not one of your better DIY jobs but I have been a sub a long time and look forward to your videos.

    How easy is it to fill the diesel tank and do you smell diesel in the van...getting prepped for an install myself. Cheers buddy stay safe

      Hey Robbie, its super easy to fill, either with a pump at the petrol station or a can.... I did smell diesel at first (which was annoying) but it was because I hadn't screwed on the cap tight enough and it was leaking out a bit... tightened it today and its sealed and fine now... ;) good luck with the install

    Going to have a go at installing one myself in same area of the van..... did you have to remove all the plastic cover under the van and if so did you replace it after around exhaust ? Cheers and enjoying the vlogs.

      That's awesome matey, yes I removed it but didn't put it back as it may be a melting risk! - I did seal underneath (heatproof seal) ;)

    Great video! Are you changing the fuel line soon? A lot have said that's the #1 to do. You've got bigger ones than me mind, I don't think I've got the nads to do this myself 😂😂 Well done Sir! Well done!

      Thanks so much... My nads were trembling Ill be honest haha!!!

    Great video as always thankyou. One big question i have about using a remote diesel tank is do you get to smell the diesel in the van? hope not as it makes the install so much more simple if so! Keep on the good work mate!

    • @Yorkshirepoptopadventures
      @Yorkshirepoptopadventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheers Grant,
      I'll be honest, I had a faulty cap on the first bottle and diesel was coming out of it. You could smell it if you got super close but it didn't smell the van out. I bought a new cap and its totally fine now. Can't smell a thing!

    What size heater did you go for bro?

    • @Yorkshirepoptopadventures
      @Yorkshirepoptopadventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 2kw one matey, the 5kw is a larger unit and was too large to fit in the space I wanted it to go and it would have kicked out far too much heat for my small van too. If you have a larger van a bigger one might be a good option though.
      Also, I had a few friends install a Chinese heater underneath (outside the van) and they have all failed as the water proofing (certainly on their models) wasn't very good.

    I have an Eberspacher installed cost me £895 fitted brand new I hear these are good because there after sales team are really good in terms of communication if anything isn’t working as it should. No hassle of filling a separate tank because it runs off the main diesel supply and really let’s have it right for something like this it really isn’t a DIY job yes you have taken great care but I wouldn’t trust any Chinese brand.
