Currently re converting my van after respray. Mine won't cost anywhere near what yours did as I am doing on a tight budget. Love watching your videos as they give me idea's and help me get through these challenging times. Look forward to many more. All the best Mark (aka Mark Vee dubber Copsey from DOC)
Hi Colin. Love your videos. So much useful information and inspiration. Just a small point about CO monitors. CO is carbon monoxide - the deadly gas that can be given off by burning fuel if the gas/air mix is wrong. The monitors are vital in enclosed spaces. On the other hand we breathe out CO2 - carbon dioxide. Not harmful in small quantities that we breathe out, but in a small van it can get ‘stuffy’ thats when there is not enough fresh air. Another reason to have some ventilation.
Excellent video, thank you. £23,000 and you have a superb van. I have a VW T5 California (admittedly it has a DSG gearbox and all wheel drive), but I like yours better. You didn't mention your hook up socket.
Interesting breakdown of costs and comparisons with ready built. I’ve gone down the same route as you but a little slower. Just ordered a Austop Roof to be fitted in a couple of months as I don’t fancy fitting something that size. I too bought the insulation and lining kit from Kiravans along with side windows, fitted them all myself too. You’re 100% right Kiravans customer service is brilliant.
Hi colin just started watching your videos brilliant job mate. Just wish i could talk to you privately about my van. Im down in kent. Many thanks rhys 👍
Brilliant Mate. Truly inspirational, ''would love to make one similar to yours, the item & cost breakdown was very helpful. Happy travels, and if i ever realise the dream, I'll look out of for you and buy you a couple of beers. Take care - cheers.
Great video - really informative so thanks alot for sharing - inspiring me to finally get my own conversion done - oh yes, also managed to pick up one of those beauden powerbanks after seeing one of your other vids - thx again - good job!
Hey buddy, just found your channel and your giving so much good info thank you. This is a great video and very honest, going to help me loads so thanks pal 👊🏼
Wow that was pretty cool and well honest, thank you! You have answered loads of questions that I needed to know. I need to properly sit down and listen to every bit of it, as I did fast forward a bit!👍 Not that it matters but your physics doesn’t stack up about headroom, it would if the van overhung the back wheels further on a lwb but it’s the same on both swb and lwb But sorry I don’t mean to be an arse...I had to consider what you said as I’m beating myself up about going for a lwb or swb Anyway thanks again it was a brilliant vid!!👍👍👍
Actually I am being an arse now!!! But you are right about headroom at the bottom of a ramp with a lwb as the back wheels will stay on the ramp longer, don’t know how much impact that would have on clearance? Those places freak the hell out of me anyway! 😂
Cheers buddy, I do waffle a tad though 🤣🤣! Glad it has been a help to you too.. On the back end hitting a car park, I have actually witnessed a T5 LWB hit the back of its roof in The Light Car Park in Leeds (a car park that I can fit in quite comfortably) possibly because it goes down from the flat, he also had a spoiler on the rear. It was definitely a consideration when buying my SWB as a wedding photographer I need to know I can get my van in to most car parks! But don't get too hung up on it bud, we don't buy our vans to put them in multi storey car parks do we 🤣🤣! Get a LWB if that's what you want bud!
Wow! Well I deffo can’t argue with that!! I had a T4 lwb as a works van and I literally ducked my head when I drove under every beam...but then I still do in my Discovery! Haha I’m looking forward to watching the rest of your vids. Can I just ask if you fitted your diesel heater inside or outside? I was surprised how noisy it was when you mentioned it in the vid!...that said if you hadn’t of mentioned it I might not have noticed. 🤔😂
Haha me too, full duck mode when going in to a multi storey car park 🤣🤣! Re the diesel heater, the noise you can here is from the fan but its still way quieter than the fans on the van (or an electric heater) - I mounted it inside the van as the Chinese heaters aren't designed to be mounted outside (not water sealed ) although if you wanted to, you could (watertight) box in the heater and mount it outside but the fan noise would be the same. In the video the fan was on full blast too if that helps.
Can’t believe how much you paid for the van, your looking at the same payout with 100,000 miles on it. Struggling in my head which way to go if I’m honest. The pop up and the windows were a real bargain.
Got a, question for you how, good would you say, your sound deadening is, and insulation. Keep, getting told about others, but yours sound quite and been looking at place, you got yours from just looking for advice.
Is your van a T28,T30 also wondering if it’s the 102bhp or 150bhp. Does it lack power with the conversion and luggage . Also did you got the bed yourself ? As you spoke about the spreader plates , can it be done on the driveway Thanks
Hey buddy, it's a T28 and it's 115 bhp - I haven't struggled with power to date and 115bhp has been more than enough for us, it depends on how you want to drive I suppose... I fit the bed myself but took it to my friends lock up as he has a pit so it was easier to get under the van. Hope that helps matey
Hi buddy’s what’s with the T5 badge when it’s a T6 ???.Is there anything you would do different if you could turn the clock back,Would you of got the T30/32.Cracking Video 👍
Haha I know mate, its a long winded story I explain in one of my other videos (basically I thought it was a T5 when I bought it ages ago, turns out its a T6) - if I was to change anything I'd get sliding doors for all the cupboards as the outward opening doors can't be opened when the bed is out... Thats about it really, if I did another van I'd go much bigger, like a sprinter or similar, but then it wouldn't be my daily driver :)
Hiya, its a simple cover that goes over the potty to turn it in to a seat. Its only available on Amazon but since I started showing it on my channel its been out of stock 🤣🤣! Check out my camper van essentials (part 2) video for the link to it on Amazon... have an ace day
@@Yorkshirepoptopadventures Really appreciate the reply - thanks. We're just over the Pennines so our paths might cross one day. We'll treat you to ice creams.
Hi again Colin, a quick question, how do you get wifi in the van for your laptop? Are you using your mobile as a 5G hotspot or do you have a dedicated wifi /booster somewhere in the van. CheersMate, Love your vids....
Thanks, yeah they are 18, the wheel on the spare is 16 but the tyre is bigger so it's the exact same size. It would get me home or to a garage if need be! :)
Aye up, on another subject, has your sliding door played up since your repair? Mine has!!! My Mrs checks my door all the time. Then takes pleasure to tell me ive left the van insecure. 😠😠😠😠
Eyup Col - how did you manage to get that deal on that van?! £15k for for such a young barely driven van is amazing. 24/7 commercials has sold out of Transporters now by the looks of it (your fault!) edit- ahhhh your part ex... soz. I need more coffee Awesome channel - very entertaining - very addictive - highly caffeinated - keep em coming
Really enjoy your channel. You’re really bubbly and straight to the point. Great vlog with this costing video
You are NEVER boring!
Really enjoying your videos. £15,000 for an 18,000 T6. That is ridiculously cheap. I can’t find anything anywhere near that

Hi, I’m new to campervanning (is that a word??) love your videos, lots of great tips much of which I’ve adopted. Keep up the great work- cheers
Building your own van is great fun , Having friends to help you is even better , Be Well my friend .
Thank you for this video, exactly what I want to know, best videos of conversions I've found. Keep them coming 👍🏻
I wish you could get these prices now. 😢 great video thank you

Great informative Vlog Col, 👍 top top channel. Can you do more local scenery shots ( escapism whilst on lockdown) cheers.
People will always love VW vans for camping , Imagine not having one .
Got a, question for you how, good would you say, your sound deadening is, and insulation. Keep, getting told about others, but yours sound quite and been looking at place, you got yours from just looking for advice.
Hey, it's brilliant... works perfectly.... it holds Hest quite well and keeps out quite a bit of noise too

Hi great video. How do you know what order to build your own van. Ie Rock n roll bed first before units. Or units first. Thanks Wayne
Hiya bud, personally I'd do cabinets and bed at the same time. But windows and pop top first!
Another great video for reasons I’ll elaborate on in the very near future :-) top man
Steve 9222 Right arrived yesterday. These are like rocking horse S$$t but high peak had one. Thank you very much.
So , swivel seat becomes the "naughty seat " then ?
Hi can you tell me about the cover/cushion for your porta potty? Great idea.

Hey James, I just use my phone as a WiFi hotspot, it's not always the best option re signal but it's been handy for a few trips ;)
@@Yorkshirepoptopadventures Thanks for that Mate - appreciate you taking the time.... be safe, watch out for those poxy monkeys...
Colin , ? any Rum in that Coffee !
how about the cost of insurance from a panel van to a camper?
Hey buddy, it wasn't much different but a great question. It went up by £10 per month... Sourced via A-Plan ;)
Great video pal thanks 😊
love the alloys, ...so they're 18's but the spare is a 16? Does that not matter as a temporary measure?
Thanks, yeah they are 18, the wheel on the spare is 16 but the tyre is bigger so it's the exact same size. It would get me home or to a garage if need be! :)
What did you have in your coffee mug 😂😂😂😂 all good entertainment 👏👏👏🚐
how do you like your bed from JDS? Any particular pros/cons?
Its great mate, it rattled a bit when I first installed it but nothing that a few well placed foam pieces couldn't sort out! Solid and well-made!
Also had to add a strap so I could pull it back up!
Aye up, on another subject, has your sliding door played up since your repair? Mine has!!! My Mrs checks my door all the time. Then takes pleasure to tell me ive left the van insecure. 😠😠😠😠
Ey up, no mine has been fine buddy! I sprayed silicon spray in to the lock and mech so maybe that has something to do with it. Give that a try bud!
Good vid again.
The price for the pop top, was that just for fitting or was it parts and labour? Thanks
Hiya, that was for parts and labour bud!
I'm not watching you anymore I've been a sub for two days & you've made me buy a diesel heater for a van I don't have & a bowdum cup 🤦♀️
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Love videos!! Where did you get
Your chopping board from?
Thanks Wayne, I think it was from Dunelm a random purchase one year not even for the van 🤣🤣.. we just needed an extra cheese board one Christmas....
For the work involved and all the parts , I think you got a bargain mate ! .
Is your pop top tuv approved?
Not sure mate, never heard of TUV approval I'll be honest :)
Can’t believe what you paid for the van😳
” aLong relatively boring video” ..... great intro lol. A comprehensive list Can you do my tax return next
Always tek brass advise from a Yorkshireman
Did you do all the work yourself ??
I did mate yes! (Apart from the Pop Top)
Looks fantastic, wish I had confidence to do it. Don't think I could get a van for anywhere near what you paid for yours. Well done 👌👌
Give Branston back his Teeth mate , lol.
Eyup Col - how did you manage to get that deal on that van?! £15k for for such a young barely driven van is amazing. 24/7 commercials has sold out of Transporters now by the looks of it (your fault!)
edit- ahhhh your part ex... soz. I need more coffee
Awesome channel - very entertaining - very addictive - highly caffeinated - keep em coming
Roof, windows and LED lights for under 2.5k!!!! I cannot believe this. Sack Martin Lewis that is an absolute bargain.
I'm a Yorkshire man..... Follow me if you want bargains 🤣🤣🤣
So am I... but after that bargain I’m about to follow so close it’s technically stalking. 😂
Haha brilliant!
Whoop .
Haha good spot!
