Travelled on the new Velocity to Albury. Never again! The seats are so uncomfortable for a long journey especially for those like myself who have back problems. The seats have no adjustment and I spent most of the trip having to stand up. (I was not the only one). The old N Class first class seats were the most comfortable seats of any train. There is always a lot of confusion with passengers not sure between reservation seats and unreserved seats. Also these velocity are not designed for families with children. The N Class economy cars had 2 or 3 seats facing each other. Ideal for families. Now you have a few seats of four facing each other with a table in between. Families with children and a pram have to sit near the Disability area and if they have other small children they may have to sit in seperate seats away from the parents. Who ever designed these trains gave no thought about families and the elderly passengers. At least we have the phone chargers built in the seats !!
G'Day Matt, from what I have been told the new velocities are NOT nearly as comfortable as the N sets. Love your vids, regards Bill currently in Darwin, but not for much longer.
Thanks, Bill! Interesting to hear about the comparison between the N sets and new VLocity Hope you're enjoying Darwin! Holiday I'm guessing, either way, enjoy yourself. Thanks again mate from both myself and Keshi. Matt - M&S Trains
@@MS_Trains Vlocity trains are smooth and no louder than an N set, the people pushing this lie that they aren’t comfortable are cry babies who hate to see improvements made to a system.
I remember reading/hearing a couple of years ago that Australia had converted everything to standard gauge. I must be mistaken. Is that still the plan? Thanks.
Australia has converted all its capital city connecting routes to Standard Gauge. It's only the more regional routes that run within the one state that are other gauges. For example, Victoria has a wide range of Broad Gauge lines, and Queensland is almost all Narrow Gauge with Standard Gauge only running south towards Sydney. Matt - M&S Trains
It seems they're not fit for purpose on those longer trips, V/Line insists on putting them on. One would think Swan Hill, Albury & Bairnsdale should/should've stayed loco hauled with fit-for-purpose carriages, considering journey times are beyond 3 hours. Matt - M&S Trains
Apparently, the DMUs are much cheaper to operate. The only advantage I see is the higher track speed so overall shorter journey time. Either way, it is what it is. The N Class certainly isn't going anywhere for awhile with so many freight operators showing interest in them beyond their time with V/Line. Matt - M&S Trains
Excellent work. We are seeing a changing of the guard as loco-hauled trains are phased out.
Always LOVED the mighty N class. They are my fav EMD.
Top quality as usual. Cheers.
Thanks mate! Have a good week.

G'DAY MATE!! Amazing footages!! Gauge in this video standard 1435mm, broad 1600mm or both?? All the best from Bs. As. Argentina
Albury Trains run on Standard Gauge 1435mm track. They're the only trains featured in this video. Thanks.

@@MS_Trains OK. That clears it up for me. Thanks.
Every state capital is connected by standard guage and some of Victoria’s grain lines are now SG.
Um… Are you coming back to SA
We're back now! Not for long, however. Going to be a year of many weeks spent in Victoria. Stay tuned, SA content will be back soon.

it would be great if dmus could recline its seats…

Loco hauled is much more comfortable and not NOISY like dmu’s. Great pity!
