That's awesome, mate! It would be a great little engine to get out and about in. Would love to do that kind of thing in the future.

Love your videos. I’ve never been given a satisfactory explanation why many of the Victorian Red Rattlers of this era had tri axel bogies. Seen on the last carriage at 3.25. I expect maybe because they wanted to reduce the axel loads on some lightly laid rural lines or maybe a smoother ride. Keep it up, glad to see you out of the mountains and desert and in Victoria,🇦🇺

Thanks, Raymond! I've always found the tri-axel bogies on VR carriages to be special. I'm not sure of the reason, but the axle load would also make sense and allow for higher speeds on rural tracks. Either way, it's a pretty rare thing to see and something the South Aussies never really got on board with.
Thanks mate! They'll be more visits to Victoria across the rest of the year and hopefully some NSW stuff too! Glad you enjoyed it.

I believe the Bellarine railway is narrow guage, is that right? Great vid. Cheers from NSW.

It sure is! Not sure about the history of the line, but I did find it strange it wasn't Broad Gauge when I visited. Thanks mate!

It was originally broad guage but in the early 80’s it was reguaged to narrow guage. I believe the reason was they had far greater access to loco’s and rolling stock from all across the country that nobody wanted.🇦🇺

@@raymondwelsh6028 Thanks for that, Raymond! Makes sense and gives it its own little charm in some ways.

@@raymondwelsh6028 it has its origins as the Geelong branch of the ARHS which recieved donated equipment from Fyansford cement works. A private operator that had an extensive line of 3'6" track with 3 garratts, a diesel and numerous tank engines on the roster. GSPS originally had a line at Belmont common where it gathered stock from around australia to compliment its fyansford stock. When it had to leave there they moved to Queenscliff and regauged the branchline to become the present day Bellarine Railway.

Should be no steam from the funnle , keep boiler water below half a glass .
