  • Convinced that being a successful entrepreneur was incongruous with being a full time student, Jefferson Noel dropped out to pursue business. But he soon learned that making time for education taught him valuable skills that took not only his business life but his personal development to the next level. Jefferson Noel is a Haitian-American community educator raised in Miami.. He is a three-time published author. Jefferson founded Barbershop Speaks-an organization dedicated to engaging in intelligent discussions inside Barbershops and Beauty Salons to enlighten, educate, and empower the community. Jefferson has been featured on MSNBC, NBC News Now, NPR,, the Miami Times, and more. His efforts in the community led him to receive Legacy Miami’s Top Leader of Today and Tomorrow 2022, Miami’s Top Black Educator Distinction of 2021, Outstanding Service Award by FIU, the Young Professional Haitian- American Top 20 Under 40 distinction, the Raul Moncarz Award of Excellence, and many more awards and recognitions. He is a distinguished World’s Ahead graduate from Florida International University with a Bachelors in Communications and a Master’s degree in Global Strategic Communication with a certificate in Conflict Resolution. Jefferson is currently a professor at Florida Memorial University. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. I felt so constrained and moved by this young fellow here! As an ongoing understudy I was battling however his tone and non-verbal communication truly addressed me and advises me to continue onward in school, be focused and find lasting success to be the individual who I need to be from now on. 10/10 I prescribe to have him once more

What I took from this video is: The path to success isn’t linear but as long as you stay on the path you’ll find your passion. And where you end up is exactly where you’re supposed to be. Which I think we all can relate to. Life isn’t easy but with a mindset like this will get you right where you want to be. Doing what you love.

as a student who wants to network and engage socially more, i actually took a lot from this. i want to travel and write/create beautiful things that could ultimately change the world. and hearing your story puts a lot of things in perspective. there was a point in my freshman year where i had little to no motivation, and hearing you speak is inspiring.

Noel is such a great tutor of speech. Many college and high school students undoubtedly needed to hear this message right now. You are a fantastic influencer and a terrific example of how a man should conduct himself. You engaged the audience by speaking and gesturing with such enthusiasm. Very motivating, and I eagerly anticipate what the future will bring. I learned a lot from this as a student who wants to network and interact with people more. I want to see the world and write/create wonderful things that might one day alter the course of history. and learning about your experience puts many things into perspective. During my first year, there came a time when I had little to no motivation.

This was such a beautiful and inspirational message. You are truly a brave and courageous soul. I never gave up on school but I know that it isn’t for everyone and this message can help others to believe in their selves and also not to give up on the person that they want to be and how they see their future. Solute to you !

i loved this ted talk, this really opened up a conversation about the struggles of trying to chase one dream and falling short of that dream and that being ok because there is always going to be something else you find interest in. amazing speech professor noel!!

Chasing one dream can get you where you want to be, but that dream can change in your later years. Find what interests you rather than what can stop you.

Such an outstanding speech professor Noel! 🙌🏼 I’m sure a lot of college students and high school students needed a message such as this right now. You are a great example of how a man should carry himself and you’re an amazing influencer . You connected with your audience and used such an enthusiastic countenance and voice. Very inspiring and I look forward to what the future holds. 😁🥳

I genuinely think it was a life lesson on how to build your own path in life and just cause because things don’t go your way the first that doesn’t mean to give up everyone is on the own path you just have to keep your foot on the gas for greatness
