You can read the enuma elish for about 5 bucks. For ten you can read both the Babylonian and Assyrian versions. This lecture does not actually follow either and is such a massive generalisation of the topics covered in order to drive a particular view point that I'd argue is not representative of the myth.

This is the fundamental symbolic structure at the major turning point of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The All-father Odin maintained order across the 9 realms (or the cosmic tree Yggdrasil) for thousands of years until a falling out occured between the Trickster Loki (wielder of chaotic deceit) and the Thor (wielder of order, strength, virtue, and lightning).
This falling out led to Odin's eventual disappearance and death, similar to the death of Abzu, which unleashed Hella, the goddess of death who had been held at bay since before Thor and Loki were born. Odin's troubled past returning as Tiamat did, threatening to undermine everything.
This, of course, did happen as her return led to Ragnorok, the end of Odin's reign (or of the old MCU saga) and the beginning of something new after Thor wisely lets go of his glorious kingdom.
Shortly after Asgard was destroyed (death of God, or the highest place in the MCU cosmology), Thanos (translated "Death" from Greek) came onto the scene and brought trillions to dust (nihilism breaking everything apart) in a reverse Genesis Creation Week (6 days of creation in Genesis, day of rest / 6 Infinity stones, Thanos "finally rests on a grateful universe"), leading to 5 years of meaningless despair, which eventually led to a grand resurrection into the next phase of the MCU.
    Phoenix-Like death and resurrection.

I know it's 2 yrs after you commented this, but I think if you research Norse Mythology, AND study it's strikingly unchanged form that is actually nearly identically descended from Proto-Indo European people's oldest myths (we're talking about THE oldest stories here- 30k to 100k yrs old maybe), and these Mesopotamian myths are also borrowed from those people. An amazing amount of human culture across the ENTIRE globe was all spawned from the same nearly pre-historic cultures of what is now the Eurasian Steppe (modern day Bulgaria, Turkey, Ukraine, etc). Some academics claim that Norse mythology is surprisingly the MOST IDENTICAL to the earliest stories, and somehow their myths evolved far less over distance and time from their origins.

I just awoke from a dream of this. It was the most realistic dream I’ve ever had. Chaos, Tiamat had erupted forth but I had infected her, fed her the virus of sin. She went mad with power and was seeking more sin to feed her rage. The world was full of terrible technologies but none of the technology could stop the chaos. After a great feeding upon galaxies of life she was sated for a moment and allowed me to return to sanity. A brief point of lucidity while she searched for more fodder.

    • @Neptunade

That moment of sanity is the age of information.
Dig into common law and the genesis of the law covering the territory you inhabit and you may find the ending of Disney's Moana very key. Or Henson's The Dark Crystal, or the Matrix Revolutions, or The Fifth Element.

To truly understand the story behind this myth, you need to learn more about Zacharia Sitchin's The 12th Planet. The story tells the creation of our solar system. The gods are representations of the planets. Apsu is Helios, our Sun the Father symbol. Tiamat as the third planet is the Mother symbol, collides with a 12th planet called Marduk, who splits Tiamat in 2 mayor parts & smaller parts that becomes the asteroid belt. One of the mayor parts becomes Earth. It's an amazing story .

At around 3:00 he was saying that those ancient pieces of artwork which feature an entanglement of serpents/gods representing the formation of the world. If the modern world only just produced the double-helix model that best represents the simplest structure to genetic material, I'm *ENDLESSLY* curious about his hypothesis as to how those people would've derived the model. Does his idea have something to do with the supernatural/deities, does he think it derived from scientific methods, alien visitors, or something else?

It’s actually much simpler than that. Look up how snakes mate. That’s why it’s often symbolized by the serpents intertwined. It has nothing to do with dna. It’s still fascinating how they tie it into a lot of cultures but it almost certainly just stems from a common observation of snakes doing the do

TheCherrytree123 the highest degree of meaning perceived out of the elemental is realized in both the beginning, and the end of our evolution? The first humans, I like to imagine, understand ontology and the study of essence in the most/more complete interreferential general sense, "the qualitative sense", whereas the last humans have evolved full circle but understand ontology in the higest quantitative sense (hence the perfection of science).

It's interesting to see how each civilization has its own interpretation of the roots of religion/spirituality and then putting their own ideological twist on things to assist their agenda, as does mr peterson here.

Basic early beliefs often included a more matriarchal emphasis, aka The GREAT MOTHER. over time,as property and paternity were combined, there was struggle and change, of course. It's a fascinating part of our history as humans. And this prototype of feminine does exist today, with Mary, certain east Indian goddesses, in europe.
You're informative but lacking in dates ,,, thanks for the vid!

Just curious, is the Flat Earth theory that of Jordan Peterson or what's recorded in the Mesopotamian records? FYI Nimrod, the son of Kush (Which is in Africa), was who created that civilization and I think the ancient Kushites knew the world wasn't a flat disk for the simple fact that they sailed and populated the entire globe.

Why did the gods (actually it was Enki that did it) kill the Apsu? Because Tiamat told the gods of Apsu's plan to kill them. Nothing to do killing culture. I'd say it more has to do with the end of one era and the ushering of a new. Our universe is built and nourished by the corpse of it's older form. Those primordial powers are no longer active indivuduals, but insteast have become the home for more dynamic powers.

Well then shit, Game of Thrones used that story for their plot then. Emilia Clarke was Tiamat, and Jon Snow was Abzu. Then they killed Abzu, and he came back to life. So his corpse was a symbol of that i think, cuz the whole thing hinged on those two combating chaos.
