These guys are masters of taking songs that should never work as a cappella, shaking them up and then killing them. Every one of them was fantastic and I can't pick a favorite like I usually do. Having said that, I'm enjoying Layne really cutting loose and stretching out his already huge talent lately. Also a huge shoutout to Ed Boyer for his genius in mixing their sound.
Eli is such a badass in this! Love when he greets to belt. Anthony was a great guest artist for it. It was a surprise to hear him rough it up. Sassy Cesar got a nice little bit of the lead this time. And Geoff and Layne! Holy hell! They nailed it! Layne was insane!
Thank you for reacting to this. Voiceplay keeps it up. The dragging of the bat in the start, to tweeking their voices, Eli the rock god, basemaster Geoff, the carrotking Layne who swallowed a drumkit and what not, to come up with those sounds. Always looking forward to watch your reactions. ❤❤❤❤
Having never even heard of The White Stripes before I had no idea what to expect when VP released their first teaser to Patreon but I was immediately intrigued by the post-apocalyptic vibe. When they gave us the full song I was blown away. I've lost count of how many times I've watched & listened to this. I've been humming it non-stop for over two weeks now. Every single one of the guys were just beyond amazing in this but I really love how Geoff's bass & Layne's percussion work together in this. I agree with you about Eli as well. I think ever since Earl left Eli has really been given a chance to show what he can do and he can do ALOT! I also loved Cesar's sly baritone in this and Anthony is unbelievable. It was nice to see ALL of him this time, LOL. For Patrons the BTS for this was also one of the funniest I've ever seen. Suffice it to say, never listen to Layne when he says "I've found the perfect location for the video shoot". 🤣
Layne shot the steadicam footage of Geoff walking on the train tracks for Geoff's Man of Constant Sorrow, and Layne originally suggested using a train track that was active at the time - and just as he did, a train went whipping through the crossing! I think Layne's ideas of what constitutes a "good location" is probably a little suspect.
The only instruments they use are their voices, wth one exception -- occasionally we get a visit from VioLanyne. Suggesting otherwise means the person is either unaware how dedicated these artists are to stay true to the genre, or someone lied to them.
Vocally......perfection!!! Geoff arranged it.....knowing full well, what talent he has to work with, playing to all their strengths. Layne, doing the 'vocal fill' is genius.....he HAS "Too Much Fun".....>^^
Your facial expressions said it all! Ive listened to thiscat least 20 times now and am still oicking up things i didnt see or hear before. Geoff's arrangement brought the best out of everyone. The vocals were amazing!
I love Voiceplay! these guys have grown incredibly! they surprise and do not disappoint. but still, I would like them not to succumb to the temptation of fascination with effects)) I enjoy the reactions to their videos no less than their works!
This video is part of their post-apocalyptic series, which includes Warriors and Dream On. In those first two, the group said they imagined a zombie hordes just out of camera range with the guys singing to save themselves. Between the first two, both Earl and J. None were lost to the zombies, and they picked up Cesar and Omar along the way. However, by this time, VoicePlay have become the bad guys, so we're not 100% sure what happened to Omar... 😜 And you're right, there's a lot of techno-type sounds based on distorted vocals.
Loved the reaction, all the guys just slayed this! Anthony is awesome, I hope we get see him again soon. I hadn't heard this song before VoicePlay covered it, it vaulted to my fav instantly!
One of the reactors I follow knows White Stripes and said when the song was written it got garbled - instead of the Salvation Army, it turned into Seven Nation Army. I'm trying to listen to see what difference it makes in the lyrics.
Eli a total badass.
Who the hell needs a bass guitar if there is a Geoff?!
Agree 😊
Layne is a madman in this. Everyone is so good. Voiceplay rocks!

Voiceplay rendering reactors speechless one by one and yes Eli is a rock god ❤

I heard they were trespassing!😊

There was some productionion effects at one point which one reactor had the temerity to suggest was instrumentation. How very dare they!

One reviewer called Layne doing those amazing sounds his 'velociraptor mode'. Cracked me up.

Great reaction! I'm still trying to figure out the phrase Layne rapidly utters in the middle of his beat box schpill!

Glad you came back! Always fun to watch your reactions. 😏
Loved this reaction!!😊

Anthony is so talented at such a young age. He's 17
Awesome reaction as always Lieben.
Such a cool and stunning piece...
Warriors Part 3!
Warriors was the first apocalyptic video they made. Then Dream On. And now this.
So good right?! I love this one 💜
Wow!!!
Would interesting if they develop their MMVPCU (Mad-Max VoicePlay Cinematic Univers) thru other song.
