@@vickis.9363 What? I never said that and never met you! *HOAX! HOAX!* The schnazzberries *DON'T* taste like schnazzberries. Clearly you're part of the cabal! Wonka up, sheeple!
Just made it for my family. Instead of water I used stock made from a turkey breast carcass. Did the dried beans. My husband who is a man of few words said it is fantastic. I can't take the credit. Thank you so much, Chef John.
You are so fortunate! Growing up in the 70's my friends mom, Anna Pezzote, used to have a large pot of pasta fajool (please forgive spelling) on the back of the stove every Friday evening. Every. So, so, so, delicious. This will be too. Priceless memories.
Plus you're Serbian (your name) so you already know how to make the best bean soup in the history of the world, and Chef John's can only be a distant second.
Had endless bowls of this at Olive Garden many years ago, it was so good I learned to make it on my own. I usually add some bacon to crisp up with the sausage and a bit of heavy cream once the kale is done. It's also a great base for a vegetarian dish if you remove the sausage and add an additional type of bean and some cauliflower.
CHEF JOHN, YOU SAID THIS WAS A WINNER, & WE'D MAKE IT AGAIN...YOU ARE RIGHT! TY. Ive gotta say.. the Hungarian?/Polish? potatoes & sausage soup with the vinegar & paprika about 2 weeks ago, is SO VERY DELICIOUS. The family has requested I make again. I'll say....I added some good chewy dumplings- (cooked on side & dropped into boiling water & let the family take dumplings from separate serving dish AND then put soup on top. The dumpling & soupy stew(added thickener a tiny bit) were OUTSTANDING TOGETHER- MAKING FOR AN EVEN HEARTIER DISH. SO GOOD. BRAVO.
I am SO happy to see that your stockpot is Cuisinart!! I am quite tired of seeing so many adverts pointed my way that are for "high-end" expensive pots and pans that are NOT always as fine as the more affordable Cuisinart. Thanks, Chef John!
I've been watching your videos for about a year but this was the first I tried to make. It is wonderful! We used canned cannelloni beans because it was what we had. The beans split a lot sooner than expected. If you make this with canned beans add a little less water and summer a little less time. I served it over fresh-baked gluten-free focaccia, as per international law.
Chef John, great recipe, i like canniloni beans also, but garbanzo beans will work also, i use kale for my greens, sometimes a splash of 1/2&1/2 in my broth. My wife is austrian/german & we live in northern kentucky, i'm irish from rural s/e Ky. but here there is a big population of german, greek , italians & all make great sausages, so i can get italian sausage, fresh & pre-ground without having to remove a casing, big plus, whether mild, medium, or hot. God Bless everyone & please stay safe folks.
I made this with a few adjustments (I added a can of San Marzano tomatoes that I crushed by hand and then also added some chopped fire-roasted tomatoes. OMG, so awesome! I love your vids so much. I can't remember the last time I saw one and didn't get inspired by you.
Just tried this tonight. Mindblowing! It was delicious! I deglazed with vinegar as suggested - 2 kids and although it is cooked I try to avoid alcohol. Swapped chilli flakes for a mix of 5 peppers. Spinach works just fine with this awesome recipe. The highlight of our day in lockdown! Cheers from France. 😁
I just made this with quinoa, beyond sausage, cayenne powder, and kale. It's all I had. It was delicious. Stew gives you the flavor of all the ingredients in every bowlful; it stretches the food.
Am I the only person on Earth that sees stormy winter weather rolling in and is thrilled. It's soup weather, and time to bake some bread. Now it's spring and it's warming up, it's Ughh, salad weather.
Did this recipe today and it was absolutely delicious! I used alubia beans ‘cause that’s just what I had on hand. Also not a fan of kale but I used it anyways, and it was amazing! Loved how it tied everything together. Thank you Chef John for yet another yummy recipe!
Made this today. Could only find the beans in a can, not dried. Used three cans and used some chicken broth I had instead of water. I am sure mine wasn’t as good as Chef John’s but it was still fantastic!!! Definitely will make again, quarantine or not.
That's not how it goes! It goes: Beans! Beans! The magical fruit! The more you eat the more you toot! The more you toot, the better you feel! Beans! Beans! For every meal! :-)
This recipe is remarkable! I have come to expect really excellent results from your recipes but this is just the simplest and yummiest soup ever. Thank you! Thank you!
I just love making anything with beans. This looks something like Italian Wedding soup. Thank you for sharing. I can't wait to make this, so simple and yummy.
And as always, I DID enjoy. Thanks, Chef John, for another great recipe and another fun video. You are a ray of light in the present darkness. Keep on truckin'!
I made the no knead bread & it turned out great, this looks delicious & just gives me a reason to make more bread this wkend!😄Love soups with sausage. Thx Chef John
Making this today on lockdown. Unfortunately, could not find those Italian white beans anywhere. Just pinto, but ran across anasazi beans, so I'm using that. Wish me luck.
oh Chef John. You are a class act. The way you just throw away your comment, "erasing the casing", like you're so not aware it's a little bit of genius.
Chef I can't wait to try this stew it looks tasty. When I was a teenager I worked for a company that served food and I fell in love with the Italian wedding soup. I was wondering if you could make it, your recipes are amazing I have made quite a lot of them. Some of the recipes I never even heard of but the ones I did try are amazing. Keep bringing your wonderful recipes to us. Thank You
I make everything separate first the sausages then drain. Make the Carrots celery onions add the sausages then chicken broth and tomato sauce. Add basil and other seasoning at the end I add the cannellini beans and kidney beans. ...comes out awesome
Chef John!! You are amazing with your "After all, you're the...." Love it!!! Keep em coming!!! P.S. I will be making this tomorrow night when I get home from work. Thanks again.
I've got to try making hearty soups like this. Every time I make it I'll have a sandwich and/or a salad with it and I'll still be hungry in like 20 minutes. 😫 Fantastic as always, chef. 🙂 💜💚

Especially with a toilet paper shortage around the country due to idiot hoarders ruining the fun for damn near everyone.

This recipe is like a big warm hug from the inside out. Nothing beats old family recipes.
My mother makes this all the time!! she throws everything in the pantry in the soup/stew. Artichokes, olives, roasted red peppers etc.

Mmmmmm! Looks delicious. I use kale as my green but I cook them separately and then put them in the soup for about 30-45 minutes before eating.
Wow - such a delicious stew. I make this all the time now!
I do something similar with black beans. Sometimes a tomato added. Also beet greens work well.
Making this today on lockdown.
Unfortunately, could not find those Italian white beans anywhere. Just pinto, but ran across anasazi beans, so I'm using that. Wish me luck.
I made it this afternoon, on this cold northern Ontario day. I added a stalk of celery and a carrot for flavor :)
😊. Big smile at removing casing, adding oo, cheese and mentioning of crusty bread. 😊
I tried this recipe!!!! I did enjoy!! Thanks chef!
I also add a parmesan cheese rind. It always tastes even more amazing the next day. Thanks John for another great recipe 💋

Great soup. Easy to follow. I make this, and add cooked bacon pieces (drained) then top with parmesan cheese at serving.
Just made this tonight. Amazingly good. The only thing different I did was add some ditalini from an older Chef John recipe.
