I was on my last gravios shooting him with the level 1 rounds(because I had nothing else) and he was already weak wouldn't die. The timer just kept blinking red and I just lost all hope but, out of anger and vengeance I just kept shooting him despite knowing the timer had 15 seconds left. And BAM! Quest Cleared! I was sure the timer was going to reach zero. After carving, I went on to looking at the timer.... 0:03 left. Man I don't think I ever felt so relieved. And it was like the desire stopped being such an ass and gave me a black gravios heavenly shell. (or was it 2?) One of my most epic fights.... besides the battle with white fatalis of course.

I've also noticed the new avatar/channel icon that Gaijin has, it's pretty neat. What monster is it? It looks to me like some sort of Abyssal Lagiacrus-coloured Tigrex with a massive horn coming out of it's shoulder.
gaijin hunter Ah... (I thought it could be him, but I remember him being a tar Black colour) I really need to get on with those G crown quests, but I'm slowly farming the EDs for their armour sets. Chammy is done, I'm in the middle for Kush and I've yet to do Teo.
+ScrewYour AssFace I believe it is a question mark in game, but the icon that gaijin has is the one that you see in Ping's Dex so maybe there's data for it; it just isn't used.
+mahius19 I played 3rd at a friend of mine. He also made me fight this thing saying "you can try as often as you like." This was the fight that introduced me into monster hunter. 28 tries and I got it down. And it was worth every single death.
6 years since my last comment - there are very strong indications that we'll be facing this thing in Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak! (SPOILERS INCOMING) First, there are Twitter posts called "Sunbreak Stories". #4 is a letter that the masked Wyverian merchant Kagero has written, but never given to Yomogi, the dango girl of Kamura Village. In it, he reveals that she is actually the princess of the now-dead Tsukito City, and that he and another Hunter had saved her when she was but an infant. He describes the day that Tsukito fell... (italics added for emphasis) "Out of nothing, clouds as dark as coal and cold as steel gathered overhead, plunging the city into darkness. And like that, a gentle morning became bitter night. The _"Great Calamity"_ was upon us." "A fearsome serpent had appeared in the skies, _gliding majestically_ in the air, as if a _deity_ had appeared. But the _storms raised by its elegant dance_ rained down destruction upon the city..." But then it gets worse... "I turned from the city and ran. The ruthless serpent came after me. And the monsters around it, _as if whipped into a frenzy by the serpent_ , attacked as well." For those who haven't played Rise, the basic plot of the first 2/3rds of the game deals with an event called "The Rampage", which is caused every 50 years by a pair of related elder dragons called Wind Serpent Ibushi and Thunder Serpent Narwa, both having startling similarities to Amatsu. Ibushi somehow whips monsters into a frenzy with its winds, causing them to attack any nearby human settlements. They apparently do this to make the land safe for him and Narwa raise their babies. If Amatsu has the same ability as Ibushi, then the entire plot of Portable 3rd was essentially stopping a Rampage before it could begin, and without even knowing what it was.
Gaijin this elder dragon is my secret favorite elder dragon I am always biased towards wind type dragons thanks to the kushula dora I am hoping amatsu gets ice born love
Doesn’t Amatsu sound like Amaterasu, the Japanese goddess of the sun? She came out of Izanagi’s left eye when he poured water on it which explains the water element, and she is considered to be the goddess of wind and typhoons. Also the armor is pretty heavily based off of her red and white Shinto clothes.
+Ricco Elfrez Maybe but to be fair Lunastra technically has nothing that Teostra doesn'. It's a bit similar to how Monoblos and DIablos were in Freedom Unite (and trust me I hated it).
Ricco Elfrez Both at the same time? Unlikely since Capcom seems to be strict with "Only one Elder Dragon per mission" policy. Except for Kirin and it's subspecies. And... That would be nightmare tbh, One is bad enough but two? Super Novas everywhere.
i thinks its likely. they could also make them more different this time since teostra became more blast based. they could make lunastra have less blast and more fire attacks and have a different special move than the super nova
Thanks, gaijin. hearing the victory song I broke into tears. Nostalgic: my very first Elder Dragon, opening my way with Silver Los gunner armor (water beam = oneshot) and Rathian Bow... it was almost 2 years ago... it brought back a lot of good memories. I sincerly thank you.
God I'm still having flashback and goosebumps hearing the victory music. When I was a kid, defeating Amatsu with shitty gear combination, unupgraded armor, no hotspring, 1 faint left and 5 mins left on the clock feels euphoric. Going into the village and excited getting praises from the NPC there, Portable 3rd is such a wonderful game.
I played the English patch of the game and I never really liked this fight. Felt like fighting an over grown Kushala Daora. But I loved the monster itself, it always looked so amazing when it moved. I really hope in mhx they make it a bit more fluent with its movement around the stage so it really flows everywhere.
+Thoren Tricomi huh, I just played it on PC with PPSSPP. Which is, I suppose, an absolute bitch to set up. Don't know how it compares to hacking a PSP though. Also the game has vector graphics, so it looks really nice on a screen with a decent resolution
It had been so long since I last fought it that when I slayed Amatsu magatsuchi in generations I was hit with so much nostalgia that I started tearing up. (One of my friends had a copy of mhp3rd and let me borrow it) Monster hunter as a franchise is one of the greatest things I've ever discovered. Thank you Capcom.
*click on the Video* *Opening of the Amatsemagatsuchi* hmmmm ... it looks more polished. What is he on abou.. "Amatsumagatsuchi is comming back in MHX" *FUCK YEA!!*
I was wondering whether you'll put this video or not because it's been a while, but I'm happy you did! Amatsu is my favorite monster because of the reason you've listed above, and the fact that the skies cleared up after she was defeated with that special victory music... Gog dang, I just love her very much.
MHGU is still my favorite game in the series because of this level of fan service. Whenever I'm doing the village quests I always head out from Pokke Village. MHFU was my first game in the series and the first game I ever put over 1,000 hours into, so being able to go back home and see it in HD is such an amazing experience. I just wish they added the farms from the older titles, since the FU farm was my favorite layout.
So what I'm getting out of all this is...Western players are second-class citizens in the developer's eyes. And that's fine! (Also, Amatsu fights like Lagiacrus does when underwater. Should have mentioned that in the video.) ...kept reading? Good. Seriously, it makes sense. The bulk of their sales are in Japan, and MH Tri-a very big experiment for Capcom-absolutely _tanked_ outside of Japan. Of course they were gonna fall back to what was safe for the release of P3rd. Fortunately for us the 3DS was a lot more successful than the Wii, and this carried over to 3U. So over all, I'll be glad to fight Amatsu for the first time, but it's not as much of a monumental moment as it's being made out to be.
+donbionicle Even so, I don't think there's been a MH game to date that hasn't been released outside of Japan (except the Monster Hunter MMO). I think they see the value in releasing their games over here, but they just need to stick to handhelds and they should be fine.
Yeah, I spent my first few months of Tri stuck outside of online stuff. I guess it kinda stuck a very slow, deliberate style of play in me. 4U was an adjustment, for sure. But I think Tri failed for two reasons-one, it was on the Wii and only the Wii. I mean, seriously? 'Twas dumb. Two, so much _less_ was in it compared to good old FU, even with online.
***** I personally had a ton of fun with Tri's online. I clocked in over 150 hours before I got bored of it easy. The transition from single player to online was really hard though.
BTW i think you guys may have not noticed but some of Amatsumagatsuchi's movements and attacks have been passed on to the underwater leviathans of MH Tri and MH3U, Lagiacruz is the prime example bestowed with Amatsu's attack animations, Abyssal Lagiacruz also fits the bill though he is the only leviathan who gained Amatsu's triple tornado attack back from MHP3rd... BTW if you take a look at how amatsu shouts and how lagiacruz and his subspecies shout in water, you'll notice they're both sharing the same animation :)
that'd be sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much better. and the fight is so much more uh... farmable in terms of entertainment value.
Amatsu is imo the best Monster in the franchise in matter of atmosphere, feeling and soundtrack. The gameplay is also really awesome. Even tho i didn't really fight Amatsu that often i would consider it as my favourite monster.
I hope it's in Rise. I know the village isn't necessary near Yukumo as far was we know right now, but I would love for all the people playing Rise after World to also fight this thing.
Can't wait to slay it in MHX.Glad they actually let Amatsumagatsuki into it since I only joined MH4u this year and really hyped about meeting more monsters in the previous ones XD
Should've noted the similarities between Amatsu and Abyssal Lagi. Lagiacrus did not appear in p3rd, but Amatsu has very similar shape and movements. They're basically substitutes for each other, and finally get to be in the same game with MHX.
man the music for Amatsu is giving me chills, this is my first time seeing Amatsu's fight. Grate video man! Now all we need is western release for MHX so I can finally experience fighting Amatsu #MHXForTheWest
I'll be honest I just know about this because it's in a collab with the mobile game puzzle and dragons and one of the rarest monsters to pull so I wanted to find out why it's so rare.
I always wanted to see this come to the West, and it looks like the time may have come. It was the one monster from MHP3 that didn't come to the West, IIRC. Never thought we'd see it again, but I'm not complaining.
you forgot the end scene where a beautiful lanscape emerges from the dark red skies of the horizon, which also have a calming breeze which you could visually feel.
If they ever actually get the leviathan skeleton to work in world/iceborne, can you imagine if this was the first leviathan to be added? That would be one hell of an encounter. Could even just be an Amatsu making the elder crossing and be a much older and far more powerful variation of what we fought before. One of the best elder dragons with by far the best victory and battle music. The game doesn’t feel right without the leviathans. 😢
Yes! Finally, a new video. I can see why it took a while to get this one up, you put a lot of research and time into this one and it was awesome. I never played Portable 3rd so I never got to really learn anything about this monster. That was super in-depth and informative. I love your videos! Keep up the good work!
I started on 4U, and in hindsight I have to believe that the team put an equal amount of story and detail effort into Gore/Shagaru Magala. Both Amatsu and G/S Magala got so much care they really left an impression on those who first got into MH with either entry.
At the end, you were talking about possibly a monster for each village... Alatreon still gives me shivers thinking about it. I'd say never again, but with mounting being a mechanic now, I feel it could be a much more interesting fight, and the thought of meeting it again grants me mixed feelings.
D'awww your daughter is ADORABLE. Sad we never got to fight him in any western releases, so I'm excited we get to Amatasubatsuhatsugatsu in this one (hopefully)!

It looks to me like some sort of Abyssal Lagiacrus-coloured Tigrex with a massive horn coming out of it's shoulder.
+mahius19 This is the icon for Gogmazios ^^
gaijin hunter
Ah... (I thought it could be him, but I remember him being a tar Black colour) I really need to get on with those G crown quests, but I'm slowly farming the EDs for their armour sets. Chammy is done, I'm in the middle for Kush and I've yet to do Teo.
+mahius19 Thought he was a question mark.
+ScrewYour AssFace I believe it is a question mark in game, but the icon that gaijin has is the one that you see in Ping's Dex so maybe there's data for it; it just isn't used.
+mahius19 I played 3rd at a friend of mine. He also made me fight this thing saying "you can try as often as you like."
This was the fight that introduced me into monster hunter. 28 tries and I got it down. And it was worth every single death.
6 years since my last comment - there are very strong indications that we'll be facing this thing in Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak!
(SPOILERS INCOMING)
First, there are Twitter posts called "Sunbreak Stories". (italics added for emphasis)
"Out of nothing, clouds as dark as coal and cold as steel gathered overhead, plunging the city into darkness. And like that, a gentle morning became bitter night. The _"Great Calamity"_ was upon us."
"A fearsome serpent had appeared in the skies, _gliding majestically_ in the air, as if a _deity_ had appeared. But the _storms raised by its elegant dance_ rained down destruction upon the city..."
But then it gets worse...
"I turned from the city and ran. The ruthless serpent came after me. And the monsters around it, _as if whipped into a frenzy by the serpent_ , attacked as well."
For those who haven't played Rise, the basic plot of the first 2/3rds of the game deals with an event called "The Rampage", which is caused every 50 years by a pair of related elder dragons called Wind Serpent Ibushi and Thunder Serpent Narwa, both having startling similarities to Amatsu.
I want Yama tsukami!
yes please
+ElmoePlusTwo yap x3
Is that the floating jellyfish thing? I hope it returns cuz I never fought it xD I hope they return monsters that wasn't in mh3u and mh4u lol
+ElmoePlusTwo I wanna experience it too. Maybe they could implement parts of the Dahren/Jhen Mohran battle and allow you to walk on it after a mount?
YES GIVE ME MY LITTLE YAMA!!!
I am so so happy Amatsu's back, SO HYPED.
I wonder if we'll see lunastra too
+Ricco Elfrez Maybe but to be fair Lunastra technically has nothing that Teostra doesn'. It's a bit similar to how Monoblos and DIablos were in Freedom Unite (and trust me I hated it).
Hmm I see your point but id love to see a quest with both
Ricco Elfrez Both at the same time? Unlikely since Capcom seems to be strict with "Only one Elder Dragon per mission" policy. Except for Kirin and it's subspecies. And... That would be nightmare tbh, One is bad enough but two? Super Novas everywhere.
+Wojciech Oleksów cmon! that'd be fun. more explosions than a michael bay's orgasm
i thinks its likely. they could also make them more different this time since teostra became more blast based. they could make lunastra have less blast and more fire attacks and have a different special move than the super nova
I sincerly thank you.
whts the name of this GIANt crab in mh freedom unite ? i want it back :3
Shen Gaoren. It wears the skull of a Lao Shan Lung on its back. Is that the one you mean?
Yea its so cool x3
Giant enemy crab. Attack its weak point for massive damage
I have never seen this monster before but there is something primal about it that really gives you shivers.
Wait your actually japanese? and you have japanese children? Or am I just super ignorent
He lives and works in japan, and has a japanese wife and daughter. But he's born american (I think)
TheThoerlChannel ahh ok. Thats super cool.
TheThoerlChannel he’s a single papa now
@@NiteStars24 what happened?
@@NiteStars24 Yeah, what happened :(
God I'm still having flashback and goosebumps hearing the victory music.
+Thoren Tricomi Where'd you get the english patch? Is it a ROM?
+Cr0 xx Not a ROM bro an ISO.
DARKSHYNO oh i see
+Cr0 xx I dont know how you do it exactly. I had my friend do it because it involved some weird hacking of an original psp.
(One of my friends had a copy of mhp3rd and let me borrow it)
Monster hunter as a franchise is one of the greatest things I've ever discovered.
Thank you Capcom.
Yes! Flying Lagi is Back!
Cronos ZX lol
This video is still great after Title update 5 today :D
And it's 7 years old this video
*click on the Video*
*Opening of the Amatsemagatsuchi*
hmmmm ... it looks more polished. What is he on abou..
"Amatsumagatsuchi is comming back in MHX"
*FUCK YEA!!*
That's my reaction
Except the part that I fainted of happiness
6:25 Additionaly, it shares the color palette and ribbons of the dress worn by Amaterasu in classical Japanese iconography.
I'd like to see laoshan with new combat design. Orz
I was wondering whether you'll put this video or not because it's been a while, but I'm happy you did! Amatsu is my favorite monster because of the reason you've listed above, and the fact that the skies cleared up after she was defeated with that special victory music... Gog dang, I just love her very much.
997th!
Same I kinda miss sending Trenya on expeditions with his boat cutscenes and the reaction based on the loot he got
So what I'm getting out of all this is...Western players are second-class citizens in the developer's eyes.
And that's fine! (Also, Amatsu fights like Lagiacrus does when underwater. Should have mentioned that in the video.)
...kept reading?
+donbionicle tri was a failure in my eyes when so much content was put behind the wall known as online.
Oh I loved it. If I checked my file right now, I'd have what, 700 hours on it? More? I'm just saying commercially it was a disaster.
+Abaffelle Afuang (Valckryst) Omg now my head is being flooded with all kinds of evolution theories about where those three descended from * o *
Why couldn't we have fought this in World instead of Kushala?
that'd be sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much better.
and the fight is so much more uh... farmable in terms of entertainment value.
I think because it only resides in the mountains of yukumo
I am so glad you decided to delve deeper into Monster Hunter lore.
What the heck is an Amatsu Mega Sushi?
Amatsu is imo the best Monster in the franchise in matter of atmosphere, feeling and soundtrack. The gameplay is also really awesome. Even tho i didn't really fight Amatsu that often i would consider it as my favourite monster.
"maga" means "calamity" LOL
...sorry. *ahem* Carry on.
I hope it's in Rise. I know the village isn't necessary near Yukumo as far was we know right now, but I would love for all the people playing Rise after World to also fight this thing.
Jack Frost
The cutscene where Amatsu chases a Zinogre, it sounds like it would be an ancient bedtime story like we get on our world
Can't wait to slay it in MHX.Glad they actually let Amatsumagatsuki into it since I only joined MH4u this year and really hyped about meeting more monsters in the previous ones XD
4 years later, I still remember that roar so terrifying. I wish they would add this to iceborne such a memorable monster.
i played mh since its realease on ps2. i just love this game ... cant believe its been more than 10 years .... i will deffinitely buy this game again
I hope they bring this monster to rise. It's perfect for the game
My three favorite monsters coming back, I need this game in my life right now
I'll be honest I just know about this because it's in a collab with the mobile game puzzle and dragons and one of the rarest monsters to pull so I wanted to find out why it's so rare.
He in rise now finally
Stopped waiting your videos for awhile but I'm back
Yes! Finally, a new video. I can see why it took a while to get this one up, you put a lot of research and time into this one and it was awesome. I never played Portable 3rd so I never got to really learn anything about this monster. That was super in-depth and informative. I love your videos! Keep up the good work!
*Sigh* This monster is so beautifully designed... And that music, so epic. Cool video!!!
Just glad Yukumo is coming back. My favorite village in MH.
his scream actually gave me chills, and no other monster has done that to me since I first started playing monster hunter O.o
I started on 4U, and in hindsight I have to believe that the team put an equal amount of story and detail effort into Gore/Shagaru Magala. Both Amatsu and G/S Magala got so much care they really left an impression on those who first got into MH with either entry.
I just cant wait for the mounting animation for this thing, flying around and flailing.
Very informative video once again! I really hope I get the chance to hunt this magnificent beast!
Thank you so much gaijin! Favorite monsters ftw!
At the end, you were talking about possibly a monster for each village...
Alatreon still gives me shivers thinking about it. I'd say never again, but with mounting being a mechanic now, I feel it could be a much more interesting fight, and the thought of meeting it again grants me mixed feelings.
Never thought I get to see it again after such a long time.
i really love these monster showcase videos!
i hope you make more of them :)
This is how the battle went
Zingorer:u won m8
Ama:bitch let's go
20mins passes
A HUGE FUCKING STORM APPEARS
I remember my first kill on this glorified toothed thunderstorm. I felt quite excited hearing that unique ost at the end for finishing it off.
D'awww your daughter is ADORABLE.
Sad we never got to fight him in any western releases, so I'm excited we get to Amatasubatsuhatsugatsu in this one (hopefully)!
COMING BACK TO THIS, NOT ONLY WAS THE RUMOR OF IT DESTROYING A VILLAGE IN A SINGLE NIGHT TRUE, BUT IT WAS A KINGDOM 😭
whats that video on 1:50 from, I'd like to watch it
