Great song by a very talented group. This song is packed with emotion! No wonder, though, since he was singing it about his mother. Thanks for this fantastic submission, Cynthia! I do love this song. Thanks for your honest reaction, Harri!
Thank you Harri I read this and should have posted it. It was their first US hit. "This tear-jerker tells the story of an aspiring actress who commits suicide. Frontman Errol Brown explained to the Mail On Sunday January 25, 2009: "The story is tied to the death of my mother, aged 38. It was almost not released, as Mickie (Most, producer) thought it too slow and morbid. The girls in his offices at RAK Records changed his mind."
@Cynthia. Thanks for requesting this, and for the additional background information. This song always deeply ‘impressed’ me. I think that’s the best word: arresting and engaging, beautiful voice and instrumentation, yet so hauntingly sad ….. We were so lucky growing up with songs of this calibre on the radio and TV ( Top of the Pops mostly) all the time. As teenagers we couldn’t afford to actually buy many records, but we were listening to hundreds of great songs every year ….. I really value that. Bands like Hot Chocolate and, from the U.S., Dr. Hook, created so many varied mini-masterpieces of popular music. A past era now,and I was sorry to hear of Errol’s passing. Time marches on, but I’m not aware of the music getting any better …
Thx Harri. I have a list of "tearjerkers" not far from here, it has, to date, 74 entries. This tragic number is honoured as the opener. I cannot help crying every time I hear and see it.
Thanks Hari, wonderful song and great channel by the way. Not sure which other Hot Chocolate songs you've reacted to, but I'd recommend, No Doubt About It; Put You Together Again; It Started With A Kiss; Girl Crazy; Are You Getting Enough Of What Makes You Happy
R.I.P. Errol. Great band and one of my favourite 70's band. His emotion in this song is off the charts ❤
This is MY favorite from Hot Chocalate. Simple.....and Sad at the end.

Probably my favorite Hot Chocolate song. Had the 45. Glad to see "Emma" on Harri's channel now. 👍
@@Imadrummin I was hoping it wouldn't be too depressing, and I have struggled whether to post it or not. Thank you Imadrummin.
