    During reassembly, exactly which bolts do you need to keep loose while you use jack pressure? Thanks for the video!!

    • @ScubaMoto
      @ScubaMoto  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Keeping the outer bracket bolts loose worked fine for me (in the video) but if you still have a sag, you could loosen all bolts and re-tighten while jack pressured.

    • @ZBrink11
      @ZBrink11 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @ScubaMoto
      @ScubaMoto  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sometimes, the impact that bends the bumper, bends more than just the bumper. Some careful jack work can often fix things enough to look good. Good luck with it.

    Great video. I got hit in parking lot and broke 2 clips on bumper upper plastic molding on driver side corner. Can that be replaced without taking off bumper?

    • @ScubaMoto
      @ScubaMoto  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Doug Neugebauer: Yes. The corner tabs break off all the time. Once you've got the old one off there's a hard way and a really hard way to put the new one on. But if it was my truck, and the trim didn't look too bad, I would re-attach the corner. They're doing amazing things these days with double sided industrial adhesive tapes. Search "Automotive moulding adhesive" and you'll find plenty of examples of super tapes used by body shops to re-attach plastic mouldings just like this. Just make sure both surfaces are super clean (I use acetone for that) and make sure it's where you want it because once it's on, it's on for good. If you decide to cut off the old one and buy a new one, let me know. Like I said, it can be difficult or near impossible depending on how you do it. They make them with the corner accordion tabs poorly located. I have a method buried somewhere here in the comment section that works well to get all the tabs inserted without breaking anything.

    • @ScubaMoto
      @ScubaMoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      JRobert111111: I'm not sure what part you're looking at. If it's not the lower front bumper valance with the fog lights then could it be the A-Arm dust shield or the Engine Splash Shield?

    • @JRobert111111
      @JRobert111111 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ScubaMoto Thanks for your quick reply! At 9:32 in your video, it is the plastic piece along the bottom of the front of the fender and wrapping around towards the front and your new bumper filler attached to the new bumper. I can see it in your picture in the middle and left of the red lines. It was still attached to the car with the bumper off. Also, at 6:10, you mention a "slim jim" tool, but I can't find anything even resembling this. Do you know where I might find this tool? Sorry for all the questions. I just put down a deposit today on a 2006 Tahoe LT with 106k miles in remarkably great condition optioned how I want (suspension, interior color, rear gear ratio, etc.), except that it's white. But I can't be too choosy with buying such an older vehicle. I looked at slightly newer ones, but don't like the extra technology such as cylinder displacement (lots of oil burners out there I've read), and through 06 it has "real" 4 wheel drive, not the automated stuff that came after. It is a one owner with a nearly clean CarFax (verifies the miles) that was an older gentleman, and there is minor damage to the front of the right fender, the bumper cover/filler and the lower valance, and the fog lights are destroyed from years of being ignored. The dealer put on a new chrome bumper, but with the corner brackets being bent, nothing lines up and the filler panel and lower valance are damaged. I found a kit on eBay with the lower valance, fog lights, chrome bumper, filler cover/panel, new grill (don't need it), and new headlight/parking light assemblies, and all new brackets for $650. I think I'm going to purchase it, but this piece I see on your vehicle is broken on my soon-to-be vehicle. There's no other damage, and I examined the crap out of the whole car with it on the service department's lift, and there is nothing bent as far as the frame horns, etc. It drives really nice other than the Goodyear Wrangler tires (with some cupping) that are rather noisy, so I'm also going to get a new set of Toyo highway tires through my cousin at Schwab's, and he'll also align it and also check it over really good. I'm overwhelmed, high anxiety, but excited at the same time. I think I'll really enjoy it once it's fixed up. Here it is if the link goes through. cars.ksl.com/listing/7810348

    • @ScubaMoto
      @ScubaMoto  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      JRobert111111: Yes, that's the lower front valance with fog light cutouts. There are links in the video description for several types. The slim Jim tool comes from the HF "Windshield/Door Trim Tool Set". They still sell it. I hope that helps.

    • @JRobert111111
      @JRobert111111 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ScubaMoto Thanks again for your reply. The mystery piece I'm looking for isn't part of the valance, and I can see it in your video. I'll look further into it when I have the car. Thanks for telling me about the tool. That looks like the best one to avoid damaging all of the silly plastic clips and fasteners, so I'll pick one up. Thanks for your time and your video, I appreciate it!
