I know romance was probably the last thing on So Mi's mind during PL but I think it would have been so emotionally impactful for her to find a real connection with V. How tragic would that have been for them to fall in love, only for V to either have to say goodbye to her as they strap her into the shuttle bound for the moon....or even worse....pull the plug on her and let her go?

Exactly, but it's more than that. Blackwall corruption in the room spreads from places So Mi touches herself signifying that while her story is incredibly tragic, she brought the consequences upon herself which is the reason I see this ending and fulfilling her request in the end as canon because So Mi needed saving from herself while Reed had to face the truth that he can't save everyone he feels responsible for.
I appreciate the fact that you recorded all the possible answer options. It was probably a bit of fun to repeat the scene so many times to cover all the possibilities, record the precise dialogue, and then order it into the final video. Really appreciate that 👍

How could she have learned it at the Cynosure facility if she never ends up there if V supports her? No, she knew exactly what the matrix was and how it worked. And sure, she comes clean if V sticks with her, but that doesn't mean she's a good person, only that she has the tiniest sliver of conscience, and she only lets that conscience break through when in a very weakened mental state. If V sticks to the plan and goes with Reed, Songbird is just shown to be a massive hypocrite by moralizing endlessly while keeping a vital secret that she probably never intended to reveal.

That was the most emotional endings for songbird. But saddly I chose the endding with betraying Reed, that keep Alex alive, but at the end where we confront Reed and learn there was only one use of the matrix, I opted to give up song bird, and anymore help from NUA or Reed. Songbird just fucked too many innocent people. This way she's alive, Alex and Reed as well.
The writing for Phantom Liberty is so amazing. There are always three sides to a story. There's how you personally see Song and what she says to you, there is what has actually happened to Song (which you see flashbacks in her apartment as well as in the Militech underground lab) and then there is what Reed tells you. The sad part of Phantom Liberty is that if you side with Song and help her escape, it seems like she is just stabbing you in the back to save herself, but in the end she is saved, but if you side with Reed and try to ambush Song, you find out in the Militech lab you find out the reasons why she wanted to escape so bad in the first place. It's nice that Song can have a happy ending by sending her to the moon, though, but I wish it could have turned out better for V, but such is life.
I did this on my first playthrough thinking Reed had it right. Then I saw the flashback memories and this sequence. No way I can back Reed now. Killing moon all the way. Then maybe So Mi and Lucy will meet in the storyline somewhere down the line.
Well...that's actually...solid theory being that they both are netrunners with fucked up past - both were also conected to solos: David and V that would also connect the story a bit.
I feel like betraying Songbird and then killing her in the Cynosure core is the best overall route. It’s a longer, more fulfilling final stretch that gives you way more details to who Songbird is. Then in her final moments she asks you to set her free, and if you choose to do so, you not only screw over Myers but also release her from this torment. A few days after, Reed will even contact you to say that while you failed as an NUSA agent, you ultimately did the right thing and that he’s considering quitting. Unfortunately, because I want to see the endings, I reloaded a save and went back to hand her over to Myers. But I did keep a save from after I killed her, so that remains my first, true decision of how to end the dlc.
In my headcanon Lucy is the one who helped the folks on Tycho treat So Mi. Given how she's a super skilled netrunner as well IMO it makes a ton of sense.

And Lucy wasn't up there on some big corp contract job. In fact it looked like she was just up there as a tourist. So, I highly doubt Lucy will ever be anywhere near Songbird, if she ever even hears about her.

Songbird has three endings. Non of them are good. Either a puppet of two corps or dead. In this ending at least she has the option to not be controlled by anyone anymore.

this is ultra preset settings but rtx off and 1080p only. this will definitely struggle when rtx is on. this even is when you side with Reed in the firestarter mission. The one where she is on the train is a different path.
@misternoobie cool thanks i took a look at my settings a while ago, and did see ultra, the one before steamdeck settings. I dont remember using the ultra setting and looking as good as yours, but i remember i used 1440p and now ive been experimenting with 4K. But you said this is just 1080 and without Ray tracing? Alright, ill try to tweak the 'ultra' setting there, maybe the ray tracing is on, and mimic your settings though im surprised this is 1080 without ray tracing, looks better than mine. Looks good!

See I went with Reed because I knew he cared. And every plan So Mi made went to shit. I was always trying to save her. Just sided with Reed to do it. & she went crazy. I loved this scene so much! I also feel like the best ending for her was death. Just like I think V should die.
Cant disagree satisfaction wise but sending So Mi to the moon when Mr. Blue Eyes(dude who controls the brains of the Peralez) bought the ticket is not a much better fate than being controlled by the FIA or dying the whole dlc is a lose/lose situation.

We don't know what will happen if we send So Mi to the moon but we know Mr Blue Eyes is involved and since he's capable of brainwashing people who knows what he'll do to/and with So Mi and the Blackwall Daemons she's got. At least if she dies in the bunker no one else can ever use her again

I never understood the sympathy people have for Songbird. They act like she is an innocent victim but she is far away from that, and much worse than V. She killed dozens of innocent people on multiple occasions, manipulated, missuses and lied to V the entire time, purposfully started a conflict between the NUS and Barghest that killed many people and almost dragged the NUS in a major international conflict. How many hundrets of people (alot of them innocent) had to die so that Songbird can live. If selfish is a person, she is it. I don't care if Reed and Myers manipulated her to work with them, she is responsible for her own actions and absolutly deserves to die or end up back with the NUS
And that, is the beauty of Phantom Liberty. Same character, same setup, and yet totally different experience. Some feels sorry for her, some feels she deserve it, and at the end of the day, every one is just trying to do what they think is right. And yet, none of them are wrong.

It's hard to not fall for her whole "I'm such a victim, protect me!" persona, but once you do you realize she is a 30 something self centered woman still running from the consequences of her actions, this ending makes a lot more sense than letting her escape to the moon to uncertain salvation. She may not be as bad as Myers, but is pretty close when it comes to manipulation and recklessness. Death is not the answer to problems but survival at any cost is as bad if not worse. It's telling that she keeps the truth from V in this route even if you are good friends with her. Most players would certainly not feel guilty about betraying her otherwise...
I agree, and honestly seeing all the choices she actually makes in her flashback in the apartment goes along way to taking the victim side of things out of play. Reed had it right when he was explaining to her, she broke into a massive corporate data fortress, and didn't do it for any principled reason, just the hard eddies. And then pushing many of those friends involved away when they were just trying to keep an eye on her. It really was take the deal and keep friends safe, or have everyone involved get absolutely fucked. As Reed would say, you play grown up games, you face grown up consequences. That's the biggest reason I like Reed more than Song, he is accountable for his own actions.

Ive never felt more emotion playing through a story than with this and the base games story. Only RDR2 tops it (obviously)

Songbird has three endings. Non of them are good. Either a puppet of two corps or dead. In this ending at least she has the option to not be controlled by anyone anymore.

My first play through of phantom liberty I had some spoiled context. So I chose to stick with reed all the way through and planned to. But that talk and plea, it just destroyed me and I gave her the end she wanted
Wish there was a ending where we can help the french twins and since they got that medical stock or whatever it is i forget they can help V and songbird but as the twist they gotta do what smasher did and become sworn to the twins helping them out and in Vs case also maybe be arouras girl or boyfriend since yk they flirt with V no matter the gender or if somehow they was still alive like V forced alex and reed to keep them alive they come and help V and the end of the new ending and turn off the blocker the pres had the people put up....or atleast keep Vs friends up to date so they dont lose all their friends like if V just told them to message someone to keep their friends up to date on Vs condition then V wouldnt of lost everything

Hi is this one of the custom presets whether dlss or amd fsr? damn i have rtx 4070 ti super though i5 computer, but I can't seem to reach this. Is this one of the preset settings for ultra? Is this when you give up SoMi to Reed when she falls unconscious on the train ?

this is ultra preset settings but rtx off and 1080p only. this will definitely struggle when rtx is on. this even is when you side with Reed in the firestarter mission. The one where she is on the train is a different path.
@misternoobie cool thanks i took a look at my settings a while ago, and did see ultra, the one before steamdeck settings. I dont remember using the ultra setting and looking as good as yours, but i remember i used 1440p and now ive been experimenting with 4K. But you said this is just 1080 and without Ray tracing? Alright, ill try to tweak the 'ultra' setting there, maybe the ray tracing is on, and mimic your settings though im surprised this is 1080 without ray tracing, looks better than mine. Looks good!
@@misternoobie based on my settings choices, I think this is the ultra for DLSS rather than the ultra settings for AMD Fidelity, i tried 1080 now and it does look good. Will wait to go to that scene.

See I went with Reed because I knew he cared. And every plan So Mi made went to shit. I was always trying to save her. Just sided with Reed to do it. & she went crazy. I loved this scene so much! I also feel like the best ending for her was death. Just like I think V should die.
Yeaaah siding with Reed is the worst option.. Alex dies, So Mi gets killed/imprisoned. Overall worst ending in PL.
Cant disagree satisfaction wise but sending So Mi to the moon when Mr. Blue Eyes(dude who controls the brains of the Peralez) bought the ticket is not a much better fate than being controlled by the FIA or dying the whole dlc is a lose/lose situation.
gotta disagree with you, at least in part. We don't know what will happen if we send So Mi to the moon but we know Mr Blue Eyes is involved and since he's capable of brainwashing people who knows what he'll do to/and with So Mi and the Blackwall Daemons she's got. At least if she dies in the bunker no one else can ever use her again
@@aecomplet To be fair we don't really know Mr Blue Eye's true motives just yet. There's def a much bigger picture. Not every AI beyond the blackwall wants to destroy humanity.

I never understood the sympathy people have for Songbird. They act like she is an innocent victim but she is far away from that, and much worse than V. She killed dozens of innocent people on multiple occasions, manipulated, missuses and lied to V the entire time, purposfully started a conflict between the NUS and Barghest that killed many people and almost dragged the NUS in a major international conflict. How many hundrets of people (alot of them innocent) had to die so that Songbird can live. If selfish is a person, she is it. I don't care if Reed and Myers manipulated her to work with them, she is responsible for her own actions and absolutly deserves to die or end up back with the NUS
And that, is the beauty of Phantom Liberty. Same character, same setup, and yet totally different experience. Some feels sorry for her, some feels she deserve it, and at the end of the day, every one is just trying to do what they think is right. And yet, none of them are wrong.

yeah, songbird’s nativeness and curiosity got herself into this mess. if she didn’t mess with the nusa and not treat netrunning like a game, songbird would not have been recruited in the first place
The nusa was gonna have ppl killed whether so mi did it or not they would've found someone else who could've done the job she was vulnerable and they abused that fact to trap her in a bubble and use her same way David was forced to put the exo suit on in edgerunners she tried get out but others got caught in the crossfire and it wasn't intended Myers was so dead set on finding so mi at the airport or cynosure that she didn't care who died to get access to the Blackwell I don't blame her for the innocents death I more so blame Myers for the manipulation that forced so mi to this road

She’s basically Netrunner Adam Smasher.
It's hard to not fall for her whole "I'm such a victim, protect me!" persona, but once you do you realize she is a 30 something self centered woman still running from the consequences of her actions, this ending makes a lot more sense than letting her escape to the moon to uncertain salvation. She may not be as bad as Myers, but is pretty close when it comes to manipulation and recklessness. Death is not the answer to problems but survival at any cost is as bad if not worse.
It's telling that she keeps the truth from V in this route even if you are good friends with her. Most players would certainly not feel guilty about betraying her otherwise...
I agree, and honestly seeing all the choices she actually makes in her flashback in the apartment goes along way to taking the victim side of things out of play. Reed had it right when he was explaining to her, she broke into a massive corporate data fortress, and didn't do it for any principled reason, just the hard eddies. And then pushing many of those friends involved away when they were just trying to keep an eye on her. It really was take the deal and keep friends safe, or have everyone involved get absolutely fucked. As Reed would say, you play grown up games, you face grown up consequences. That's the biggest reason I like Reed more than Song, he is accountable for his own actions.
yep, this ending is just better written and has an actual closure, moon ending just seems incomplete and open, they at least should have added more messages from so mi afterwards

All this... None of it swayed me. She backstabbed her way to the top... and when her actions finally caught up to her, I'm supposed to help her? No. I played through the different ends to her story... she absolutely deserves to be sent back to Meyers.
To the very end, everything was about her and her alone. No other person, no other life matters...

Why? How can you not feel sympathy for a character who has essentially never been free, who has had to endure being turned into a living weapon by the government? I don’t blame her for a single thing she does in this story, because EVERYTHING she did was for her survival. And I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but V has killed a LOT of people in their quest to save themselves too.
