Nothing against most of your comment, but this is pretty much the history and civics that was taught to us till class X cbse (2001). Though such discussions are more in detail, there is no conflict about the what had been taught and whats being said here. At least if I remember rightly. Hope the syllabi hadn't changed towards falsehoods after that, as its been 18 years since 2003.

It was a strategic alliance with PDP by the BJP which helped BJP to access much of the earlier files which exposed the wrong deeds of earlier governments. All the files were scanned and send to Delhi for further studies. Only after this, the Central Government as well as BJP march forward ferociously to abolish Article 370. SO the alliance was a tactical move by BJP.

One point begs a question though - if there was a difference in the understanding of the finality of the accession, then why wasn't that resolved with the constituents and the then King (who by the way is the chief architect of the mess that exists in Kashmir today)?
