This is the first exercise in the book "muscle control" from an old times strongman named Maxick. Here he gave us an additional element: relaxation. He stressed the importance not only to control tension but also to relax totally at will. Great content indeed! This is the best mobility system I know!!
I have become aware that I have hyperextended my knees while standing and clench my quads and glutes which has caused me a tremendous amount of back, knee, ankle and foot pain. How does creating the isometric holds help improve something like this when it seems that the hyper extension and flexibility has become the cause of further pain instead of the opposite that you discuss?

This will help me. Im 56. I can explore this and it will benefit me. No worries , I’m smart enough to humble myself as a base beginner.
It's so important to look after our joint health and movement quality!

Keeping a slight bend in your knees.
Don't do Nacho Libre squeeze. Just a slight flex in muscles with a slight bend in knees. Tension without being horribly tense
