I found that you posted on COG a while back and I have to say thank you. While I know this won't be for everyone I personally like using this method. I do have a quick question though, I can't get this process to work for Tin Star. I can get it to work for almost every other game but not that one. When ever I go through and make edits the game with revert back to the very beginning of the story and I can't figure out why. I've tried various steps like only editing one stat at a time or just the amount of money and no matter what I do Tin Star will always revert back to the start of the game as if I had never played. Have you had these issues before and if so what were the steps you took to fix it?

Omg, what? That's definitely not supposed to happen 🤣. You shouldn't be editing anything outside of notepad++. Everything before that point is just about the file location.
@@emmortlom9143 You can do it on a mac by right clicking the executable and 'opening package contents' the entire game is just in plain text. But on pc, even if you open the executable with 7zip, all the scenes are compressed as paks and can't be modified to my knowledge.

This only works for Steam. You need to own and play the game on Steam. If you already own it somewhere else, you can contact support and have them activate it on Steam for you.
This doesn't really work that way. To make a mod menu, you have to create a modified version of the game. This just edits the save file, it doesn't actually change the game itself.
@@LeoKinhgNot that simple, unfortunately. To mod files on an app you need an APK editor, which is a too complicated for my simple brain, but also could potentially get you into trouble (potential for piracy).

I know this a year or more late but like. When I try doing this on some games. They don’t have a remote file.
Ironically just figured it out too. So, some COG or HG sequels use the previous game’s remote file.

@@ClaimedMinotaur yeah i used mobatexteditor or something so maybe that did it. Luckily making a new shortcut from Steam fixed it.

Modding is literally just modifying the game files. The save file is a game file.
