Season 7 is finally here and with it, the time comes to put on your captain's hat. That's right: CAPTAINCY! A cute little cosmetic update, right? Well, that's what I thought before I set sail during the Season 7 launch, realizing that the PvP flame had been lit once more.
The patch notes reveal several PvP changes that affect our gameplay and it appeared as though people were absolutely thrilled to try them out. So join us, as we become a whole server's punching bag with funny moments as well as highlights along the way. Enjoy!

I call that the broadside rule: A Galleon's greatest advantage is being able to fire 3-4 cannons at once. It honestly doesn't matter how good you are at the game, if you get locked in a Galleon's broadside, you're kinda screwed. The heavy cannon fire keeps you from fleeing, repairing or firing back. Really, the only way to stop it is to prevent them from using their cannons via peaceballs, concentrated cannon fire at their deck or boarding them as a distraction. That's why I'm also really careful when lining my ship up to shoot at a Galleon.
I absolutely unloaded all of my cursed cannon balls so we can escape the broadside but it's a big ship and I don't think all of them were on cannons when I did, so they just ran up and began blasting us.. Mistakes were made
This is the problem going against galleons. Everything you can do, they can do 4x more. Keeping them off their cannons by shooting blunderbombs and cannonballs at their cannon line? Yeah, they can do that to you but with 4 times the cannonfire.
@@Kezsora it's also worth noting you've got 3 times the room to put holes in em, and if you get a keg to their lower decks it's basically game over
Keep distance from the galleon. They are a bigger target, shoot them from far away.

Aha, especially fights against pvp sweatlords that end your existence within 10 seconds of engaging you. Lots of things to learn there.
Yeah kind of had something like that. Spend all day gathering items on a solo run but I'm a bit of a noob. (Should have figured to make SoT a game to relax on.) Got a lot of loot from some sunken ships, then had a krakan attack and survived it by getting out of the water. Took down my first skelly ship which I was proud of as well as getting away. I had all this from all of these shenanigans and was finally done and ready to turn things in after a stressful week in my personal life as well as my encounters in game. When going to turn in my things I saw a ship coming up and I went over as asked for an alliance which they made with me. Due to my ignorance though they just used the opportunity to check my ship then spawn kill me as they sank it and took everything and because we were still in an alliance they kept hunting me down and sinking me a few more time for lols. When I asked why after being so kind they just laugh at me as they just kind of killed my moral because I was really happy they wanted to share the loot. It really made my day until all of that. After that I gave up and just logged. Lesson learned, even if offered kindness be wary. The pirate life is filled with deception and betrayal. You're more likely to find enemies than friends in the water in my experience so far. Not letting it deter me from the game, I just need to be on my toes more and get better at pvp but man is it frustrating especially after having a rough personal day and you're proud of your haul lol.
It is videos like this though that make me know that losing is just a learning experience and sometimes you just lose. Overall, just a learning experience as crappy as it can be lol
I love watching this guy so much. Sometimes I go re-watch all his other videos whenever I wait for him to upload. It's so rare (pun was accidental) to see a TH-camr with such a fun personality that's not annoying. And the way he formats the videos like stories makes it just that better.

I like how you add some adventures that don’t end well. You don’t just show the best of the best of your sessions to make yourself seem like a god on here. You show the ups and downs to sea of thieves and in the end, We had fun watching and you probably have fun playing.
I've had some people criticize me for posting my L's, if you can believe it. But I just don't think how good a story is can be defined by wins and losses, it's often the journey that makes it worthwhile

I have to admit occasionally I have taken my wraith out upon afk players although sometimes it is so hard to tell until you finally find them vining in the tavern. Also, I am so glad this channel is growing so quickly as it more than deserves it, even from non SoT players! Keep up the great work Cliff and keep doing what you do best

There are plenty of people making content like I do but for some reason not in the Sea of Thieves space, I think that's why I stick out a bit

I had the complete opposite experience. I joined with my mates and only encountered a captained sloop that we sank twice and a solo that rage quit. I was able to stack 3 FotD without any contact with other ships. Was the strangest thing especially since this is a new update.
Similar thing happened to me only I stole a Fotd
I hopped onto Blurbs' stream after that session and yeah, seems like not everyone got to experience the heat the way we did that day
I have a story. The day before yesterday, my friend and I had the best pvp session ever. The emissary's flag, of course, and the first victim. He wanted to sell on our outpost, so we got rid of him easily. From the place where we sank his ship, we noticed another sloop. It turned out that he stacked the siren treasuries so we already had 5th grade from all the loot. While sailing to the reapers hideout the stacking sloop returned for its treasures (we sank them again). After selling the loot, we noticed that there is an emissary on the map, so we go to them immediately. On the way, this sloop met us again and sank again. It turned out that sweats were playing on the galleon, so after a short fight we entered the portal. On the next server we quickly found 2 more sloops. After that, we started chasing the galleon. We sunk them a while before he was supposed to sell loot. We were supposed to sink the sloop next, but the galleon came back and suddenly a megalodon appeared. Unfortunately not shrouded ghost but mostly it disturbed us. We managed to sink them all and my friend started collecting loot and I started fighting the megalodon. Unfortunately, at the same time another sloop and the already known galleon arrived. After a while we sank the Galleon, but the sloop is a different story. The fight lasted 30 minutes and, fortunately, after 2 infinite black screens and moments where we almost sank, we managed to win. Unfortunately, at the same time a sweaty sloop was coming towards us. Unfortunately, we lost this fight, but I will say yes, they were brilliant fights

I still tune in to watch these videos every time a new one drops despite never playing Sea of Thieves, nor really having any intention of doing so, you're just a great story teller and I always leave entertained watching these adventures. I can't imagine how you keep track of everything you do in a 4+ hour session and decide which bits are important for the tale you decide to tell and what gets cut.

Me and my friends came up with what we call the "Tactical Capstan" put all of your loot on the capstan during a battle so if anyone tries to anchor you, they'll be picking up your chests, stopping them from fighting back. Works like a charm
Seeing “Rocinante” appear gave me a chuckle. I named my ship after the Martian Fast Frigate as well.

cliff your the one who got me into PVP seeing how fun and that it’s better to stand and fight rather then surrender and your vids got my friends into sea of thieves
hey cliff! I like watching your videos, and I see a few things that get you sunk, which makes me feel bad, but i have been being taught by a decent amount of good players, and maybe some of these small tips may help you, or to anyone that may see this comment.
On that last sink, I saw that your priority was getting mast repaired so you could leave the broadside of the galleon, which is good, but there were two people repairing mast. One person should have been on, so they can just drop the sail to get some distance away, one person bucketing and doing what they can with reparing down below, and one person should have been on cannons, either firing blunderbombs or some other cursed cannonball to help. Or if none of it was available, then just pure cannonballs. A fight is dependent on pressure, and if you can relieve any at all, then you're bound to win.
Another tip for the helm, it doesnt matter what boat you're on, (brigantines and galleons especially), you should NEVER enter the broadside of a galleon, unless you have another cannon ready to immobilize the galleon's cannons. You can do this by blunderbombing the cannon line, peaceball, whatever! Otherwise, you should really be circling around them, or getting a long broad on them, and having someone shoot out while they're distracted on cannons, helming, or otherwise bilging. This is because if they spend anytime guarding ladders, then they waste precious time doing something that they really shouldnt be, which will lead to their sink.
You may already know this, but some people need to get this in their head, but weapons are purely situation dependent! You may make yourself look good double gunning, but if you're up again a whole crew of swords, it doesnt matter how many hours you've spent TDMing, you will lose. when going for boards, you may want sniper+sword, or blunder+sword. Just anything board related, have a sword. When watching for boards, or trying to snipe any enemies off their own boat, have a sniper+pistol. If you're gonna be defending you're own boat, go for blunder+pistol. Or for island combat, go for blunder+sniper. It's truly just dependent on the situation, and if you get that down, then you'll start to win more ground fights.
And, last but most certainly not least, HAVE GOOD SAIL MANAGEMENT. I can't tell you how many times i've sunk boats with horrible sail management, which means getting wind, raising when in a fighting, etc etc. If you are going slower than the other boat, and they are constantly in your broadside, you're more times than not, going to win. only time you should be fully dropped in a fight is when you need to reset, and the only time you should have your sails fully up is if the other boat is zooming really fast. Prioritize chainshots if the other boat fails to raise their own masts.
You probably wont see this, but some other boats in the Sea of Thieves probably need to use this. I've been taught this by a few NAL players and 2k+ hour players, and it seems to work for me. Just, try them out and watch the profit. Love ya Cliff!

my friends play music all the time while we are sailing as i direct and steer the ship. im sure theyll level up their music playing very quickly. they also have decided to make their pirates look like valorant agents and take photoshoots with them

Help, i discovered your channel like yesterday and have already watched like 15 videos! Addicted maybe, but hay its quality content. A nice story for each video, Hilarious commentary, your pirate doing emotes in-between the action helps get the emotion across and adds to the humor.

one tipp. you can harpoon the loot and face up and drop it on the ship so you dont touch it. and if you place down the flag and grab the loot you get the flag raised

I bought my own sloop and named it Moonshine Bounty (and you bet it's decked out with some moonshine and we party on that ship ;P ) I would hope some day to sail alongside your guy's epic vessel but sadly I play on the xbox so it is unlikely. None the less, You and your scallywags have more awesome adventures and keep thriving!

Just requires practice, fighting the sweaty PC players is my favorite way to do it in the absence of arena.

I once tried to complete a vault of the ancients solo and I got rolled up on by a reaper sloop while I was unloading the vault and when I came out with a chest I just stared in shock at the pile of loot floating out of the water.

I tried to do a solo vault too. I quit because I wasn't able to find the last piece to get the key to the fault.

My first day on Season seven, our Galleon the Guilded Rogue got attacked by two player sloops while we were leveling a Reaper's Emissary.
We managed to somehow separate the sloops, and sink them one at a time. So on my maiden voyage as a captain we got a massive haul of treasure and sank two sloops... Not a bad first voyage. :D

The 15 sec respawn timer makes it a lot more fun fighting on enemy ships
There was a day where I was solo slooping for around 2 hours. I had done some merchant voyages and a coral bottle quest for the Breath of the Sea. My friend joined to help sell loot and so we could do some world events together. I saw no ships for the two hours, but as soon as my friend joined literally four grade 5 reapers portal hopped onto my server and started chasing me and my merchant emissary... needless to say it didn't go down well.

Cliff is the one that got me fully back into SoT, though I'm more a solo now. One thing though Cliff, you're the one that got me into doing Reapers and actively trying to do it again. (I suck at PVP so that's why I've never liked doing Reapers unless I'm with a crew who can actually do PVP)
If you play Solo PvP you're learning the game the hard way and I believe you'll come out stronger at the other end for it, so don't shy away from fighting!
@@CliffTheStoryGuy yeah though I shake really bad when in PvP, I'm calm and everything just my hands shake bad so I can't keep my aim and stuff controlled. Then again solo might help me control that more.

Eh. Not being moved to a new server after death still makes it incredibly bad. Its nothing but fighting over and over until one ships time got wasted so much they decided its time to stop playing. Terrible. When you ship sinks. Respawning should take you to a whole new server. You shouldn't have any opportunity to get anything back.
Fun Fact: You can skip the pirate lords dialogue when buying your ship by simply driving away, he will say something along the lines of "I see your busy so Ile be on my way"

Yeah just be glad you haven't been running into much hackers like I have. For instance this loop typed in this thing in the chat and allowed them to fly and directly hit us with their ship he also had 17 dogs in the bottom of their ship that could kill you.

So Cliff. I found out if you bury the reapers bounty chests after doing the fort of the damned if you do it again more reaper bounty chests will spawn. We stacked about 8 bounty chests from 6 runs
I returned to SoT with Season 7 after having played last a few seasons ago, and yeah the rate of PvP has definitely increased. Idk what it is, maybe a lot of people were like me and returned to the game, but it's a lot.
in one of the other videos it was mentioned that the PvP only "arena mode" was gotten rid of, so probably a lot of those people now are mixed into regular servers.

Do you have any tips for a Solo Sloopper escaping against a galleon? Could you give a advise?
Just the same stuff I learned from PhuzzyBond. Sail against the wind (that's when the sloop is the fastest) and try to use your surroundings instead of your ship to fight them. Grab a keg from an island as you sail by or use a skull fort cannon tower to take shots. Traps are probably the best way to go

I really wish they would add a game mode that was strictly for training,something with no rewards or consequences just jump in with a crew or on your own and pvp to your hearts content.

As someone who mostly enjoys the PvE aspect of SoT: This video has done an excellent job of convincing me this is not the time to give the game another shot
I'd highly recommend you give PvP a shot, it's really fun if you give it a chance
@@CliffTheStoryGuy Its not that i havent tried PvP in SoT, its just that its not for me as i simply dont enjoy it. Personaly i hope to one day see PvE servers in SoT as i do realy enjoy the PvE content (when im allowed to experience it without getting sunk by players attacking me)

dude season 7 is crazy, I bought a galleon then me and my friends set sail, we got gold hoarders lvl5 and fought off 3 sloops just trying to sink us like we're a ity bity ship, then when the time came the Kraken showed up and ruined the fun, not only were we fighting off the Kraken but a sloop was shooting us... Sloops are evil!!! That's all I gotta say.
