love this Cliff! My crew and i went tucking yesterday - on a Gally that was doing a Fort of Fortune. We kept trying to bring the fort's smaller kegs to the ship, and finally got one on board while they were busy. I decided to shift tucking position from the rear balcony to the mast, and when I climbed and reached the crows nest, there were TWO stronghold kegs already there. You can imagine how elated I was when I found out - they had constructed my plan for me. I waited until they were done with the FOF, and brought more stronghold kegs on board. Just as they were about to leave (and were raising anchor), I lit up the two and dropped them. Biggest explosion i've ever seen - they sank as fast as one would if you scuttled. My crew and I went back to our ship nearby, raised our reaper's emissary, went over and got level 5. 350k in the bag!
So I have an idea for a fun challenge which I do occasionally. It usually starts with just getting on a solo sloop and and looking for any nearby ships. Once you find one, you sail to them, and present a trade offer. The two of you form an alliance, then you scuttle your own ship, and board the other ship. You have now successfully joined their crew. I recently pulled this off, and became a personal chef for a brig, cooking their food while sailing, and helping with cannon fire. This ALSO allows for those you allianced with the res you, just incase someone boards and kills you. It's honestly really fun and I've had a lot of shenanigans with it lol
As someone who rarely listens with volume the subtitles are much appreciated. Sea of thieves often has very chaotic and indecipherable subtitles so the handmade ones are very helpful
You protecting the kid kept reminding me of this drawing of Tony Stark talking to Eddie Brock and asking him if Venom would be okay with Peter. Then you see Venom sneaking up on Peter, intending to attack when Peter turns around and starts gushing over how cool Venom is. Venom then climbs on Peter's head like a koala and says "Venom will protect the Spider Boy". You are Venom, Cliff. Protecting the Spider Boy
Man, I just had the best escape. I was being chased by a reaper 5, brig, I was in a sloop, solo. Anyway, they were coming for my flag, I managed to get to an outpost and lower it just before they got to me, turned my ship and headed south, they caught up, missed a lot of shots, but managed to board. After a few deaths only one guy was on my boat taking what supplies I had, I killed him, his boat was a couple hundred feet off as they were turning to miss ramming an island. So I turned my boat west (we were at the south/center part of the map) and I was able to sail straight into the wind, getting a few slight turns here and there more northward as the wind changed. They were close, but slowly losing ground. As I reached the western side of the map, a thick fog came over my my ship, to which I continued west until I reached the edge of the map/grid, smashed into a large rock (very thick fog) but was able to get going again. I decided to head south, as I thought they would think I continued north going into the wind. Well they were close enough that they also hit the same rock I did (watched it on the map) the sailed around that area for a minute then went north, I continued south and then back east and away. Did some fishing in the devils roar while they searched the rest of the map. It was a good night.
Man, I had the biggest grin on my face as you were about to get away. I would've loved to see that outcome. You did it right, too bad rare never fixes their game. That would have been great to watch.

I stood on the rowboat while my other crewmate rowed and then it yeeted me... ironically, right to the location we wanted to row in at superspeed. Was a funny glitch tho. ^^
