Sure Jared Lorenzen is 300+ pounds and football freak (I mean that in a nice way) but the guy is an ATHLETE! Amazing footwork and a heck of an arm. All the best to Jared!
Too bad he wouldn't keep his weight in check (270-280). Could have had a long NFL career as a backup QB. Crazy as it sounds, at 275, he could have been a real threat in the wildcat.
Even at his size he has such great athleticism able to run the option really well. Great Footwork and arm, it's crazy how good he could of been if he kept his weight in check.
just read an article about this guy on espn and decided to check out some vids. damn! crazy he can move like that as big as he is. article said he was throwing 60+ miles an hour, too. insane.
i remember this game, i was a freshman in high school in Knoxville, TN & my school coaches wanted me to play so bad bcuz i was big but agile but i loved ⚾ & 🏀 so much but after watching this game i did go out for tryouts as QB since i was a pitcher on my ⚾ team & i ended up getting picked as our 3rd string QB & 1st string DE... #VOLS4LIFE #JaredLorenzenisthechunkywhitemikevick
Takin Dumps u aint never lied, ima Vols fan all day but i remember this game & i gave Jared so much props bcuz wut he did to a then ranked #6 UT was just brilliant & phenomenal(in my Joe Rogan voice)... He could throw with the best of um & he could scramble & run like a FB. when he played for the NY Giants they said he would tnrow the ball into the upper decks during practice just for fun, that may not sound that hard but if u think bout it that's throwing is like 60+ yards vertically & a good 50+ yards horizontally, i wouldnt doubt if he could throw a 🏈 80+ yards, i watched my high school QB throw the 🏈 60 yards on his knees during our pre season jamboree.he won the contest doing that. He was ambidextrous & could throw a ⚾ low 90s with his right arm & mid 80's with his left arm in his freshman year, he didnt have very gud control with his right arm but he threw so hard guys would damn near stand outta the batters box so the next pitch he just toss a chamge up down the pipe & that's how he got alot of K's... too bad he got hooked on opioids after a 🏈 injury in his junior year & never did recover or he might've went on to play for UT or some D1 school & played multiple sports... Oh shit my bad for this long ass comment lol, thoughts just kept coming to me & i just kept typing 😂😂😂
I hope that Jared gets well soon after hearing about his health issues today. I am a huge Alabama fan, but was always excited to watch him play football at Ketnucky. He's imo one of the best the SEC has ever seen. He and Abney were a great combo.
@@justinnoceda2115 Man,just really, really sad that he was only 38 years old, and it makes me appreciate my life a lot more. I'm 40, and it just dosnet seem that way sometimes. I had alot of love for this dude,he was talented.
In his 20's and early 30's, even at 300, I bet he was around or even possibly above the NFL's QB avg 40 time. I hate hearing all of these ESPN/SPORTS analyst or their "experts" always discounting or lowering a players worth/potential if they don't fit these "prototypical" molds that have absolutely zero relevance. The only reason a majority of the NFL QB's fall into these "prototypical size" parameters is because most of those players who do not fit into those parameters never get a chance. In fact, I would actually venture to say that QB's closer to or under 6'0" have been more successful on average than those closer to or above the prototypical heights of 6'4 6'5.
christian camacho I'm not a super knowledgeable football guy, (I am still a fanatic) but I'd venture to guess because their passes sometimes come out at a lower trajectory. They are so tall and aren't programmed to throw the ball 5 inches over the line man's head like a smaller QB has to. I never played QB, so forgive me if this sounds retarded, but I've never understood how they can see the whole field at only 6ft tall.
8MoneyIzmyMission8 It would be one thing if the linemen didn't move and the QB was standing right behind them. Do this, put yourself at a simulated height of 6' or so (no idea how tall u are), then have 5 of your friends get at a simulated height of 6'3"-6'7". If your right behind them true you cant see. Now move them 5-7 yards up and put a yard or two between each one and see what your vision looks like.
8MoneyIzmyMission8 it is also worth noting that during a play the QB is usually standing tall while the linemen are usually crouched down in a blocking stance.
Another heart-breaker from that era of football. I remember thinking we had a chance to move the ball downfield and go for a score. All we needed was a field goal to tie so we had all of the momentum and then the UK curse happened and we fumbled it and the game was over.
Had he dedicated himself to losing some weight (getting to 260 or 250 would have been great because he had great athleticism), and developing more as a passer, he probably could have. That was a lot of wasted potential, because he had what you want in a QB.
Had this guy been offered to go to a big program with better talent around him, he could have won a national championship. Had a cannon for an arm, and was very athletic for his size. Had he stayed around 260 (Cardele Jonez is 250 and Cam Newton was 245-250 in college and still is in the pros), he could have probably been much better than he was.
Brandon Stevens under 15 yes, but you can fk those up as much as the long ones. those little slips to the running backs and everywhere else are on point and in stride
Brandon Stevens but.. these are only his completions every player looks like a beast on a 5 min mixtape. he was the real deal though stayed in the leauge for 3-4 years
It was the offence they ran at UK like an air raid offense that probably passed 60 to 70% of the time. A lot of check downs and screens to get small gains build up for that big throw. A lot like what Mike Leach runs at Wash St.
RIP Jared Lorenzen. Thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.
One of the best quarterbacks in the SEC in the last 20 years
Sure Jared Lorenzen is 300+ pounds and football freak (I mean that in a nice way) but the guy is an ATHLETE! Amazing footwork and a heck of an arm. All the best to Jared!
That last TD pass was a thing of beauty. Perfectly thrown ball.
Just remember. This guy has a super bowl ring
Had
Yeah he backed up Eli for a few seasons. Never got any action except for the pre-season, but he was known as a solid back up QB.
Too bad he wouldn't keep his weight in check (270-280). Could have had a long NFL career as a backup QB. Crazy as it sounds, at 275, he could have been a real threat in the wildcat.

Hes dead 😢😢😔😭
Good ol Jefferson Pilot sports! lol. A reminder of how much better coverage is today.
Make fun of him all you want - - he can play QB - - he shredded Tennessee's Defense in Peyton-like fashion.
Yea but didn't win
They should have allowed Lorenzen to wear a three digit number.
Not hating. Still got respect for the Pillsbury Throwboy.
just read an article about this guy on espn and decided to check out some vids. damn! crazy he can move like that as big as he is. article said he was throwing 60+ miles an hour, too. insane.
Hahaha the Hefty Lefty.....I totally forgot about this dude! guy had a cannon arm
RIP Jared. Enjoyed watching you play.
He wore a sleeve before Rg3 and these new guys
In all honesty though, he wore a sleeve to prevent the gravy from seeping out of his pores when he would sweat.
Rest up Homie 🙏🏿🙏🏿
Rip jared you will always be miss😖

I remember all the nicknames they gave him. My favorite was J-Load haha
That guy had such a good release. quick and on a wire. Too bad he likes eating more than throwing the football.
So true. His release is almost perfect and he throws a good catch-able ball. It's a shame he ate himself out of the NFL.
jmillz 404 his release is horrid. Makes Rivers look like he has an over the top delivery
MrMarckeedee dude are you serious? His release was slow as hell
its obviously sarcasm.
MrMarckeedee his release was slow, his footwork was terrible and his throwing motion is God awful lol
I hope that Jared gets well soon after hearing about his health issues today. I am a huge Alabama fan, but was always excited to watch him play football at Ketnucky. He's imo one of the best the SEC has ever seen. He and Abney were a great combo.

If this guy was 240 I cant even comprehend how fast or nimble he'd be. Guy moved like a wild cat at 300 .an absolute legend. 💯
Incredible athlete rest in peace you will be missed my brother

WreckingCrewResurgen I kind of figured that was what it was, but still didn't know for sure. Thanks for that.

R.I.P. Jared.
wow how did this guy not make it in the nfl, hes better than half the mediocre 100 mil guys.
He did. He played behind Eli Manning.
as in "make it in" I meant sustained play and eventual starter status.
BYJR14 because he's not even close to good enough to make it in the NFL.
He was Eli Manning's back up. He has a Super Bowl ring, too!

He could sling the ball so effortlessly! RIP BIG LEFTY.
We loved him. RIP
RIP big guy.
RIP Jared
Cant believe this is the same guy leading the River Monsters!
Wow he was dealing! It seemed like he did everything he could to try to get them that W,
He could sling that thing
For a guy who looks like he should be playing guard, he certainly runs exceptionally well.
Why is David Steele doing this game's commentary?
Hefty Lefty!
Rest in peace Jared.
saw this guy play against my dawgs a couple times Kentucky didn't use him right he was so hard to bring down
What could this guy have been if he could have kept his weight in check, one of the most atlhletic 300lb men you will ever see
Rip Hefty Lefty. 😢
WOULD SOMEONE COVER ABNEY PLEASE!!!!!!!!
🙌🏿
SEC officials are sooo terrible!
Clearly down by contact....just sickening!
Get well big boi
Rip
KJ Scott :(
RIP
RIP Hefty Lefty
Waterboy quote at 1:27 ?
Waterboy didn't come out until the next year
it came out in 98
I saw a couple of good passes but most were under 15 yards.
Yes. Rewatch and see how he moved around to create space.
He would of been A great qb with mike leach
looks like he ate a couple of linebackers
Wonder why he gained so much weight.
Could've been a Big Ben 2.0
He has a eating disorder. I hope he gets help.
what could have been
where is jared lorenzen now? A big qb is no good
