    I have to say, you're one of the few people who look like they were born with the bright pink hair color. It's amazingly complimentary to your skin tone! I'm about to turn sixty and have a few things that have been on my bucket list and one of them is these loc's. Thank you for the tutorial!

    Not saying these aren’t “real” dreads, but for real dreads no matter the amount of time you have actually had your own hair dreaded you can brush them out. You never have to shave your hair to get rid of dreadlocks. Most people don’t know that. But girl this is awesome!

    This is a late late comment but info from a licensed barber:
    If your roots get matted and knotted, its bscause your scalp is DRY. Which causes your hair to become dry. This is why you see the beautiful brown folks oiling their scalp when wearing a protective style such as locs or braids.
    When wearing a protective style, the sebum from the scalp isnt able to be brushed and spread onto the roots and hair shaft. Those oils are what keep our hair moisturized. So for those of us without textured hair, be sure to find a light weight moisturizing oil to rub onto the base of your locs to protect the integrity of your hair at the root.
    Loc extensions are not super damaging, as long as you keep your root of the hair the loc is on moisturized otherwise it wil eventually become brittle. Other than that, unless you are using loc gel/cream and a loc comb other methods such as the rip/tear method or natural locs, it will damage the hell out of your hair.
    The rip/tear method with a crochet hook on real hair, rips and tears the hair strand.
    Lastly, other than extentions and using loc comb (which is essentially making a very very tight dense curl and locking it in place) they can be damn near impossible to brush out. Especially with natural locs (which is pretty much letting your hair begin to mat and form a loc, and ripping/separating strategically with some palm rolling to aide the process). Once youve had them for a while, they become VERY dense. You can use whatever product, you will not get all the hair or integrity back because as you comb, you're going to rip and break hair. You will have awful split ends, your hair will be thin thin as well.
    Yes you can moisturize them but again, they will be dry because were not spreading sebum down the hair shaft.
    I've had natural locs. I loved them. They take a while to look nice and calm, its a long process.
    The ones that were loc'd loc'd, i had to take a pair of thinning shears to because they wont come out by combing. That's the only way i could save some hair. The ones in the front sections werent as dense as i wasnt sleeping on them and they were combed out fairly easily. The ones in the back? Lets just say i went from chest length locs to a stacked bob with the long angled bangs.
    Oh last thing, invest in a bonnet if youre gonna do a whole head of any method. It'll cut down on damage and dryness.

    • @wutarrwedoin
      @wutarrwedoin 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@tillytenillle88 hey! For the ends get you a crochet hook (the SMALL side 0.7, 0.6, or 0.5) or a felting needle (they are different than regular needles because they have little notches on it). For the both methods you'll end it just as you did here but for the hook you'll stick it in and grab some of the fibers and pull them out to the other side (do this all around multiple times) the twist in your hands. For the felting needle you'll literally just jab it in and out multiple times and those notches will grab the fibers and pull them merging them together...then twist in the palms as well! This is a much better method...you really doing even need the knot you can create a nice tapered end with these two methods if you don't make a large knot!

    • @MischMagnifique
      @MischMagnifique 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I would also suggest not making a knot since it looks a bit bulky. And to seal the ends, you can use a hair straightener. Sandwich the ends with some parchment/ baking paper to protect the straightener from molten yarn.

    ..... Just use a couple craft knots at your ends, your roots too to keep it anchored, it's all fake at the ends anyways but at the roots you can literally just cut the side the knots run up with no damage and then release the rest of the hair. And it gives a base for your hair that let's it go in all directions without pulling your hair out. I can't believe how many of you doing yarn locs are freaking burning or gluing them at the end.
    Literally. If you're too lazy and don't want to go the whole nine yards for fake dreads and just wrap it instead of doing different pieces braided in and then, if you're doing two off one wrapping one and having the other braided. It's a simple a knot, like making a friendship bracelet. And you say you like texture. Well you can switch back and forth from wrapping and a knotting and you can do it straight or twisted and it looks amazing and has awesome texture. And you can cut it out, AGAIN with NO DAMAGE to your hair when your it, you just cut the knots on the side.
    And only acrylic? Um, no wool is very oily and can help protect your hair, especially if you're wrapping it in it or make a double ended and slid the braid in to protect it. I'm planning on doing my hair so for the winter and after watching all these videos, I guess I'm going to have to record me doing mine. I learned in 2000 at 15 and I learned it all very seriously.
    NO BURNING NO GLUE JUST USE A COUPLE CRAFT KNOTS YOU CAN EVEN DO SEVERAL AND IN DIFFERENT COLORS AND IT LOOKS SWEET. 😮

    • @anjisocks
      @anjisocks หลายเดือนก่อน

      You shouldn't wash them, if they get wet in the center they mold. You need to scrub the hell out of your scalp, like with a fork before you do them and wash the crap out of your hair but then put in a nice light leave in oil before you start. DRY SHAMPOO DRY SHAMPOO DRY SHAMPOO. And if you happen to get them wet all you can try is blow drying but depending on the yarn, it could melt or fry. Get all crinkly n stinky, ect. You can spray them lightly with like Lysol spray followed by febreeze. Your hair is protected, it's not getting dirty, it's getting a nice oil treatment in there. Just make sure to dial soap real well around the hair line and get a quality dry shampoo. And some tea tree oil. 😊
      And to match them, you just take some yarn and knot it with a craft A knot, like a sail from the top down to the existing loc then just give like three quick knots there to latch out on without bulk.
