DIY| Hair Wrap Extensions (3 Styles)

- First thing on the agenda for Lightning In A Bottle inspired tutorials? HAIR WRAP EXTENSIONS! These babies were a staple of my youth every summer. I remember every time I went to an amusement park I would get a hair wrap in my hair done and would wear it till school started up again. I had a few dilemmas with them though. One, I always dreaded how long the braiding process took, and two, the fact that I had to cut that hard work off when I could no longer have it in.
So what's the next best thing? EXTENSIONS BABY! What I love about having extensions is one, it's so much easier to create them in front of you vs. trying to do them on your own hair and not being able to see what you're even doing half of the time. Another aspect that I love is the fact that I can put them in whenever I want and remove them when I need to go back to 'normal' life/duties.
Overall this tutorial is extremely easy, does take a little bit of time braiding the whole extension, but remember, once you're done, you can have it FOREVER!
Hope you guys enjoy this tutorial as much as I did, I made over 10 new styles just the other night!
Sending all of you lots of love and light,
XOXO - Drea

No need to buy hair. Cut threads 3X the length desired and fold in half. Tie your knot and wrap around the hair and/or threads.
That’s how my mum taught me xx
WAIT you mean I can use slightly longer threads as the center?!?!?!?
Lol I figured I could wrap over thread haha looks great 💜💜💜💜
My Life Is A Fucking Comedy Yes. You can make your wrap as long as you like. Even beyond the length of your hair. Once your hair is covered just continue wrapping around the threads. If you feel it’s becoming thin juts cut a thread and cut a new thread or two, fold in half and tie a little square knot to secure and continue. I recommend cutting three times the length you’d like your wrap to be. Maybe a tiny bit more to be safe. 9 strands gives the best thickness. You don’t have to use 9 colors. Use any multiple of your colors to reach 9. Gather hair on the scalp about the size of nickel and tie a knot around the hair. Hold all threads down with the hair, tie a square knot to secure and wrap around both hair and threads. I did hair wraps and braids professionally for nearly 15 years. If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask. 😁
As a kid I went to the beach every summer and always wanted them but they are expensive. $1.50 an inch and I've always had very long hair so it adds up quick so my parents never let me get them. When I got older I taught myself how and my friends constantly wanted me to do them. Now my daughter wants them but I haven't done one in 20 years! Just did one and let's just say I'm way out of practice
I absolutely love this video! You did a wonderful job, very creative hair style. I will definitely be trying this look. Thanks!
If ya'll have old tshirts you like the color of or even if just for a base. You can use that as well:) I've gotten so many compliments on mine.
Would you just cut the shirt in a strip as long as your hair and wrap the threads or yard around that?
The only thing that worries me is the drying time of using somthing like cotton
Could you put a tutorial love? Please how you do your's
Skip to 2:30 if you just came for the tutorial. :)
What if we came just to stare at Andrea Garcia?
Thank you :)
Thx

Such a great idea. LOVE, how you made it in clips. Removing will be a breeze! Great vid!
I never thought of making clip in ones! Guess that's what I'll be making tomorrow! Oh, I LOVE your purple lip stick!!! Your so pretty
My mum used to do these for me - it’s called embroidery thread and you DO NOT NEED TO CUT THEM OUT . The other girls cut theirs out but my Mum unraveled mine
I love how easy your tutorial is, thank you, they are so pretty, Blessings, from Texas
I've been looking for something like this forever. I wanted to make them myself too. This video is fantastic, just what I was looking for! :D Thank you so so much!!! :D
Omg thank u. Ive beem dying to add color and dread like look to my hair but my hair is so fine and thin and breaks off so im terrified to get extentions or dreads or anything dramatic like highlights
Thank you so much!! I'm bringing back my youth and starting to make hair wrap extensions! Your video was GREAT!
those hair extensions are so beautiful. I didn't realize how easy they were to create!!! Thank you so much for sharing your skills!!
Definitely using this tutorial to make some wraps. Thank you hun
Amazinggggggg tutorial. Can't wait to wear my faux dreads!
Amazing video, just what I was looking for. You rocked it so beautifully, thank you!
Really beautiful i think my favourite is the friendship string.Thank you for sharing.💜👍
Thank you! I’ve been looking for a dread lock tutorial!
Thank you! I've made myself a couple with the friendship string and I felt they were too thin and I had wanted a couple thicker ones, but I wasn't quite sure what to use as a base. I have a couple dreadlock extensions that I bought and just don't like how they ended up looking, they're perfect as a base plus they have the loops already and now they won't be going to waste. Thanks again! 💜
I love this DIY hair warp Extensions Idea
Amazing thank you. Just in time for festival season hear in htown!!!
I’m going to incorporate these in my hairstyles
Love Love Love!!! And the purple lips are gorgeous!
I can not see the link for that yarn on the small spools sold at Michael's. Could you please link or what is the name of the yarn on the tag?
I came hear two years to late to ask the same question lol
What’s it called to Google it ????
I make these for festivals, they’re a great alternative to wrapping them straight into the hair. So quick to put in the hair and reusable, and last for years, rather than just a few weeks. 🌸🌺🌸🌺
You are the best and that purple looks good on you thanks for the upload

DREADLOCK TYPE YARN AKA BEAD LANDING, BOHO MARKET CORDING.
Friendship braclet string....it's called embroidery thread.
Thanks !!!!! Great video I follow you from Vancouver, Canada
Oooh, thank you!
And I LOVE that necklace of yours (as well as the one I've just seen in a few of your other videos)! May I ask where you got it, and if you have a link for it..? Thanks so much!
❤️ TY for the new project ! :)
*** warning long comment. New subscriber *** 💜💜 Thank you so much for taking time to show us how you made these. You really did a wonderful job on demonstrating, and explaining everything. 👍 I LOVE this look! And, I REALLY, really, love that you used affordable items from dollar $ store, & craft stores. It really helps. Especially for newbies like myself doing DIY hair extensions. I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on a project, if I mess it up and have to scrap it all. (Crossing my fingers that will NOT happen) I am hoping to add lighter pieces into my hair. 2 days ago I went from natural strawberry blond, to Purple Amethyst 😮💜😮 So, I found a bag of super long blond hair (extra never used) from my 1st time getting extensions (professionally. Not DIY) I'm going to upcycle these blond pieces and use your video to add yarn. I'm using 'day-glo' neon pink yarn. Again, thank you so much. Peace, love, and blessings. 🔮🌜💜🌟
That was great I really enjoy watching your video
Can you tell me the type of micro braid I can’t see the maker and not finding these online.

THIS IS AWESOME AND GIVES ME IDEAS C:
Excellent! Thank you for sharing!!
Thank you so much from France
Just use yarn to make the base as it can just be plaited instead of using the hair
Pretty neat keep up the good work

Muy bonitas las hice y me encantan pero te pregunto qué puedo hacer para que la hebilla quede firme y no se me bajen. Se me caen y tengo que estar ajustando la hebilla a cada rato
