The small screen not turning on (called the imid) is usually related to the fuse that you mentioned in your installation video blowing. If the screen is gone/black + the wireless key fob is not functioning, then it’s fuse 29 that blew.
@@zach_lush Yep, our imid stopped working as well as our key. We looked online for help and replaced fuse 29 and it resolved the issue. Later, we figured out the way we plugged in the unit was causing a short circuit, so we contacted the seller for help and then we were able to properly plug everything in. Our unit is working great now.
to regain steering wheel controls it’s ussally part of the adapter harness wring it will be labeled “key 1 and 2” the actual wires some stereos have a dedicated port too for those with a break out for those two wires as well if your steering wheel controls have their key wires going to the stereo you should be able to connect it if it doesn’t you will have to get a module that basically reads radio singles for steering wheel controls, you will have to hook it up with the wiring in your stereo and set it to look for Civic steering wheel inputs. those wirelessly talk to the steering wheel so it’s entirely contained within the stereo compartment it is def doable. I have my 2006 Frontier and i put a stereo with steering wheel controls when it didn’t have either of those factory
My wifi on the unit is soooooooooo slow. What's strange is a I ordered a unit off amazon, and when I emailed the seller - they actually sent me a .mp4 of your original video LOL. Have you noticed wifi being incredibly slow on the unit?
Oh wow, thats hilarious! I'm assuming when you say wifi you are running a sim card off of the headunit? Unfortunately I can't give any feedback on this since I do not use wifi off of it. We just connect to the unit via bluetooth and use android auto or apple carplay.
For anyone reading this in the future: If you're getting this for carplay/android auto - but also want to be able to surf the web etc with the other android features - the WiFi no matter what you do, will be horrendous. My workaround is to plug my phone in via USB and use screen mirroring. It works like a charm, and when you unplug it, it'll auto connect via bluetooth and bring Carplay/Androidauto right back up. I'm waiting for the seller to send me a harness that supposedly will restore factory backup camera function (I'm in a 2015 Honda Civic EX with backup camera/lanewatch camera (I'm opting out of the laneswitch camera, because I live in a city area so right turns basically render my head unit into a glorified CCTV) the harness the seller is sending will go from the stock plug, and convert it to a RCA yellow jack for the RCA cable connection that comes with the head unit, I'll update here if it works) - but we will see. ps: I know this is kind of niche Zach, but have you ever thought about making a discord? This way people can discuss the head unit and your videos in there instead of comments? Regardless, thank you for documenting this it was a huge help!
Hi, Nice video but with mine I still got an issue with the steering wheel control, like volume and stuff, what did you do for yours? and my car already have a camera in it how can I switch it to show on the new screen not on the top one. Tyyy
So I went into my factory setting that required the 4 digit pin and was looking to see what settings were in there and clicked on the first one that said protocol settings to see what it was and I saw that it had words on the left side that I didn’t know what they emmental but I. The right were vehicle models. So I click on the first one on the left and then found the year and model on my vehicle then clicked out. Hold and behold my steering wheel buttons are now working. When I looked before the radio showed like of it was connected to a Benz which this vehicle is a civic. But I got it working now. Which the radio had a way of telling you to change that setting from the start.
Maybe updated it to 2013 instead of 2012. I have a 2013 civic si and has your style dash but with no side camera. Maybe this will help with your phone buttons 🤷🏻♂️
I believe it was programmed at a newer model which caused issues. We downgraded it and that seemed to have helped. Its my girls car and not mine otherwise i probably would've looked into it more 😂
I have a 15 civic and Js bought the same head unit it already has a backup camera would it pop up on the head unit or would it only show on the small screen ?
I bought a similar if not the same android auto/apple car play but when I’m playing something it gets cut off and when I turn off the car the CarPlay is still on but you can’t see it unless you pay attention to it any ideas on how to fix both?
No sorry, I have no idea. I do know carplay and android auto will work wired and wireless. So if you have it plugged into the USB that goes to the unit it will work.
Last night I tried to install a similar head habit and had the same issue with the fuse blowing. But when we put in a new 10 fuse it blew aswell. We tried going up to a 20 and that blew aswell. Do you know how i could fix this?
Putting in a bigger fuse isnt a good idea, usaully it means something is shorting out. When it haplened to me i put the original radio back in and made sure everything worked. Once that was confirmed i disconnected the battery and reinstalled it, no issues ever since. When the battery was connected and i pulled the radio it caused the issues with the fuse blowing.
Does anyone have any idea how I can get my iMiD to turn off? It's staying on. It's scaring me. I tried every honda civic option in the canbus menu (I have a mekede m7 pro). They sent me a canbus that says rz-hd60. I'm assuming it's raise (not sure). Unfortunately it does not have an option for a 2013 Honda Civic. Only 2012, 2014-2016 and so on. I'm totally lost right now. Afraid my battery WILL die.
Yes, your battery will die if it remains on. I have the Raise HD-RZ-06, not sure if it makes a difference. I'm also assuming you saw my install video where I had the issues with the fuse. Inly thing I can recommend is changine the model on the headunit through the settings. Thats fixed my side camera issue. Even if it doesn't have your exact year try different ones. Otherwise I'd reach out to the seller.

Connect the head unit to wifi and I believe the option to update it was in the system settings.
