Just bought an 05 OBXT and i cannot BELIEVE that an SS install is THIS easy. Thanks for the video brotha! Might have to buy that Kartboy SS and poly bushings
Nice! But yes it is that simple. The shifter can be installed in 20 mins without a problem. Bushings are the time killer
how did you get the steering wheel controls to work?
You have no idea how badly I needed this video! Everyone else glosses over stuff or skips it altogether. Been trying to figure this out all week long and now I finally get the few things I couldn’t figure out after watching your video. Thank you so much and who the heck cares if you don’t know the name of the whatchamacallit because I don’t either and I don’t care about the name. I’m just trying to fix my car and save money which I’m sure many of the viewers are just like me. So keep doing what you’re doing brother!
Thanks for the comment. Happy to see the video was helpful for you! Just make sure you do a double flare when your installing the new lines. Good luck!

Great video - I have an 07 with exact some problem.; As realnoor mentions below, this may be covered under a recall. Consult wqk-47 service bulletin subaru wrx and see if it is still covered!
I think the time is up on the recall, could be wrong though
@@zach_lush Apparently recall only went back to 2007 on the WRX. Gonna have to DIY. ugh!
@@FrankDuBois-t8i it was worth a shot! Its not too bad to do, just give yourself a weekend and double flare your lines!
@@zach_lush hey Zach - just did it. Was not too. bad, just a little tedious. Thanks for the video.
last time I dealt with brake lines was about 10 years ago. it was a vintage Dodge Ram that my friend kept as a beater truck at his house on Martha's Vineyard. Shops on the island wanted $4K to do it.; I had him order the kit on Amazon. He flew me up and I spent a day under the truck. Then we went tubing and fishing! Fun! Apparently beater trucks are a status symbol on the island...LOL.
Good stuff
Yes sir!
Hey bud! Just sent you a message on insta. Id love to do business
What can i do to make the key panel lights to turn on?

Hi. Maybe someone can help me. After connecting the canbus my IMID didn’t turn off. How can I fix it? Thanks in advance
Unfortunately I am not help for this, I would reach out to the seller of the radio.
Hi there, where did you get the switch? I got the wire harness off of Amazon but the switch that it comes with is bigger than the oem blank switch. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have a 2018 Type RA, which is like a 2019 I think
You can get it from a fog light switch off of ebay
@ thanks for replying, yea I did but the switch are bigger than the oem blank and wouldn’t fit. I also noticed your switch has the green lights and all the other switches on ebay/amazon are orange/amber. if you have a spare switch by any chance im willing to buy or if have a link for it i would appreciate it. thanks again
@@LongNguyen-rc4qo I don't have a spare switch, but I just updated the description with the fog light kit. I have no idea if you can buy just the switch.
@ perfect, thank you so much!!
I got the switch and it fits perfectly! Thank you very much! Another question, what amp fuse did you use for the switch connecting it to the cigarette fuse ? Thank you 🙏
Would you recommend just removing the old one down below from the area you ended up pushing the "new" one through?
Yes, 100%
Is it possible to get the link of the radio
Its already linked in the description
Does SubieSpec sell just the wiring? SMY sells the OEM button for the interior fog light button and the 2020+ foglight and DRL kit looks so much better in my opinion.
SubieSpec is inactive, you can get the kit with the wiring on ebay
On my 2014 Honda Civic, it has a camera on the passenger mirror, so when i turn my right turn signal on, the side camera comes on, thats why your is turning blank, b/c it dont have one on it.
Thanks, already ready aware of the issue. Theres a follow up video showing how to stop it from happening.
this helps TONS! mine just went out and i had no idea how id re route them or fix it, thank you!
No problem, just make sure you do a double flare!
The off -set is giving me OCD Vibes. 😂Great OEM Style In-Stall!
Alot of cars from factory have it offset, even my STi does. I was going to center it but figured its better to have it to the side so its not in the way when opening the trunk. But yeah, definitely a great upgrade!
Would I be able to use the splice connector to tapn into my headlight bulb wires?? Please get back at me thank you
You can wire it up however you'd like
Did you know thta suby sell an oem emblem led illuminated ? But cost an arm and a leg 302$US 😅
Yeah, I'm aware of it. But its also not for my generation. I'm also not a fan of how its lights up, I like the outline of the stars, not the full thing lighting up like Rudolph lol
Anyway you could link where you bought the system? Having the same exact issue
I got mine from a parts car. But if you had to buy one you can get it from the dealer, Amazon, Parts Avatar, Rock Auto. Which ever works best for you.
Did the car have a factory reverse cam? Any idea how to use that instead of mounting the cam that comes with the unit?
No, it never had the reverse camera. Also i dont think you can retain the factory one unless you figured out what the wiring was and spliced into it.
@@zach_lush Yeah, I'm afraid that would be the case :(
You gotta double flare brake lines!
Yes, its been mentioned in the description. Even though it was a single flare, I never had an issue. Either way would still recommend a double flare.
Deanna Tunnel
How many miles before engine failure?
I believe it was just over 60,000 km
FYI, those carbide burrs are the wrong type to be using for this! Those carbide burrs are meant for steel, not aluminum, which is why they clogged up and got destroyed. You need to use carbide burrs that are meant for aluminum, which will have much wider/bigger gaps between the cutting edges of the bit.
Thanks for the tip! I realized awhile after I posted the video what my issue was. I'll for sure be prepared for next time!
Future reference you dont need to remove the bumber to take the bezels off
Sure, but good luck wiring it

If I go to the dyno do I need a tuner for them to tune it ? Or they just plug up and tune me from there computer?
If your going on a dyno the tuner will have everything needed

Zack i was going to post in the modified legacys pages after deep reading a post. So are you the underdog on the fourms?
I'm assuming your talking about the forum where you put an 06 seat in an 05? If thats the case then yes lol
@@zach_lush yessir. I added you. You may know me as well from the groups.
@@mikev350z not sure, mightve seen you around. Im still fairly new to the legacy platform.
Where did you get the fog light lamps, wiring and switch kit? I can only find the fog lights by themselves. The DRL Bezel kit doesn't have the fog light lamps or the wiring and switch.
You can find them on Ebay or your local aftermarket auto part shops
I thought it was Error 55 lol
Haha same here!
hey man thanks for contributing to the Subaru community and providing info for us future owners, i used this just to figure out where all the hardlines go without taking off my intake manifold to get a better understanding.
No problem, happy it helped!
Man I'm looking for an LED one like this, but personally I don't really want sequential, as it doesn't match up with the front indicators. Anyone know if theres a non-sequential version?
From my knowledge I don't think theres anything else.
Looking to buy an STi myself but blowing it up seems like a nightmare. Did you come to a conclusion why yours blew? Beautiful STI, nice video!
Thanks! I don't know exactly why, but I believe it was from running a COBB OTS tune.
😅 video just popped up. I'm good good watched it anyway . I'll be back for a serious build
Lol! Sounds good 😂
18x9.5 stretch THAT much on 245s? thats crazy.
Its actaully 18x10.5 lol! Its not that bad, i know people with 225's on a 10.5. Till this day I've had zero issues with it.
Zack, you mentioned how it wasn’t plug and play, how did you connect the new harness to the housing? I’m struggling to figure it out because I didn’t order it with the DW install kit
It is acraully plug and play, it comes with a harness incase your car doesnt have the appropriate connector.
hey bro i can’t find the tactrix cable or any option for my 07 sti
The cable to buy? The tactrix cable is universal. Just go to tactrix website to buy one
How did you get the music to keep playing when you put the car in reverse?
Honestly, can't remember, did this over a year ago. Just check through your settings.
In the settings (In think in Others) there is one option.
There are same transmission of subaru liberty wagon 2005? What part number is the speed sensor thanks
I believe they would be the same. Dealer would be able to verify for you. Part number is in the description.
Any idea where to get a kit for Legacy Mk3? Best regards
No luck with rock auto?
I want to do the same rack upgrade on my 3.0R from 2004. The only issue people are complaining about is VDC problems because it is quicker and takes less to go from lock to lock, thus the computer freaks out because it sees full lock at different software values compared to the stock Legacy rack. Do you know anything about it? Did you have any problems, any dash lights, any error codes when scanning with a tool? Thanks!
I've heard about potential issues with the shorter steering ratio. But I've had zero issues with mine since I did the swap. I also have the 2.5 GT, not sure if the 3.0R is any different. Personally I can't see it being different.
@@zach_lush racks for 2.5 turbo and 3.0 are the same, so the STI will fit mine, I still need to cut some threads and bend the power steering lines like you did, but it's totally doable. I read on a 2014 forum that the issue is only for Outback because it has 17 to 1 ratio, Legacy has 15 to 1, STI has 13 to 1. Legacies usually don't have issues because the difference is not that great, however Outback has. So this is why you don't have issues, Legacy is ok, Outback not so much unless you disable it via the button. Thanks for the reply.
What happens if one doesn’t replace the pillow ball bearings
Well if its broken it will just get worse. Potentially cause further damage.
@@zach_lush ok I see, thanks bro
@@GCASTROOO1 no problem
