This is a great comparison, and the part about the rainfly not extending past the door was incredibly valuable. I was thinking of getting the Skydome, but that has given me pause.
Hey Chris! Thank you so much, I'm really glad that you liked the comparison! 🥰 Yeah I'm surprised they made it that way too. They do have a full rainfly version of the Skydome though! Maybe that would be more suitable for you 😊
The Skydome is available with a vestulibule sized fly that extends well beyond the entrance. I think at a pretty reasonable price. Good car camping tent.
Hi Eugene! Thank you so much for letting me know! Unfortunately I discovered that only much later (after I had already bought the regular Skydome) hahah :( Maybe next time! How did the rain protection work for you with the full fly? 😊
great review but the rain test is not very accurate to be honest 'cause you tested with a hose on one tent while the other one got a real rain test with pouring rain! other than that loved it and made up my mind
Hey Joey! Thanks so much for your comment and the feedback on the rain test! Hmm I thought it was kinda accurate cos both felt to be very heavy rain! 😊 But I totally get what you mean and I'll try my best next time to put them both through real rain (though I don't always get it, sadly!) I'm glad you still liked the review though! Which tent did you end up going with? 😊
Is the “dark room” Sundome better or worst material? Is that material more Water resistant? Sun dome gets better reviews than sun dome dark room so trying to figure out why? Also thoughts on sundome vs Skydome
Hey Jesse! I think I responded to your other comment on this as well haha. You can check out my thoughts over at the other comment! 😊 I hope that helped!
Good reviews, I'm wondering what is your recommendation for me for something not too expensive since I probably camp once/twice a year with my family of 4 during summer seasons. I do prefer something spacious and room for bags and luggage
Hi Max! Thanks for sharing 😊 Hmm if you prefer something spacious, do you prefer a cabin or dome tent? If you're looking for a great dome tent that isn't too expensive, I love the Sundome Dark Room 6P tent. It will be able to fit your family of 4 with some space for bags and luggage. It's actually my best value for money pick when I reviewed 14 different Coleman tents 😊 If you're interested you can check out that video here: th-cam.com/video/q3-nya2F33c/w-d-xo.html
@@maxtan3682 If you need lots of space for gear, you could go for an 8 or 10 person tent instead! Coleman's 10P tents are much better than their 8P tents, I'd recommend either the WeatherMaster or the Instant 10P with blackout. They're not too expensive (think the WeatherMaster is less expensive) 😊
@@maxtan3682 Hi Max, here's the link to the Coleman Instant 10P: www.amazon.com/Coleman-10-Person-Instant-Cabin-Rainfly/dp/B0787D6SD2?crid=1S43OBHV1EFIP&keywords=coleman%2Binstant%2B10%2Bperson%2Btent&qid=1650862811&s=sporting-goods&sprefix=coleman%2Binstant%2B10%2Bperson%2B%2Csporting%2C483&sr=1-3&th=1&linkCode=ll1&tag=cgyt10ptents-20&linkId=1bcadd6e64a47b2e5f5d71e6522dd2dc&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl For a budget of about $200, I think your biggest options are only Coleman's 8P tents, like the Montana and the Red Canyon. Hope this helps!
What is your recommendation for a couple wanting a tent they can stand in? I have watched all of your videos and have no idea!! We want about a 6-8 person size
Hi Bridget, thanks for the question! 😊 Do you prefer a dome or cabin shaped tent? And do you prefer buying a Coleman tent, or other brands are fine too? What about your budget? For more info - the peak height in the Coleman 6P and 8P tents tend to be at least 6 feet, so I could stand up in them (actually between 68.5 to 74.5 inches in range). I think I mentioned this, as well as all the peak heights of the Coleman tents that I have in my 14 Best Coleman Tents video! 😊 Do feel free to let me know if you need more info!
@@bridgetbudzak5066 Thanks for the info Bridget! Hmm okay, if you prefer an instant set up, you could go for the Outdoor Products 6P or 8P cabin tents, I think they should fit within your budget. If you don't need the instant set up (which is personally something that I prefer), you could opt for the Columbia Mammoth Creek 6P or 8P. You could also wait for the REI Skyward to go on sale before picking up their 6P tent, so that it fits within your budget too 😊
Thanks for the Video - Want to get the 4person version sundome (Primeday sale) but would a standard COT fit inside one or both of these? I have the 6 person now and my two boys take it for camping at summer camp - want to get myself a tent for myself and put a cot in it to sleep seperate. 2 persons are too small for a cot.. thoughts? Suggestions? Thank you!
Hey Joe! I'm glad you liked this video and thank you for your comment! 😊 I believe most standard cots should be able to fit inside the 4P. But just 1 cot, I wouldn't recommend more than that. And the 4P versions of both these tents should have similar dimensions (plus or minus 1 feet in length, I think the Sundome is slightly bigger than the Skydome if I'm not wrong), so they should be able to fit 1 cot each. I hope this helps! 😊
Any recommendations for a tent to set up in doors such as in a basement? Looking to just make a little part of my small house to call my own, put small tv, maybe twin size airbed, little table and chair. Thx
@germanshepherd13 ooh that sounds cozy! You can set up almost any tent indoors, just gotta make sure it’s freestanding. What are you looking for in an indoor tent? I can try to recommend one if I know what you need in one 🥰
Hi, do you review REI tents? I am interested in how the REI Co-op Base Camp 6 Tent compares with all your other tents. I am guessing REI doesn't sell their tents in Singapore. Thanks! : )
@saics Hey there! Yes I've been testing out a few REI tents, I decided to bite the bullet and I shipped the Base Camp and Wonderland into Singapore after saving up for them 😊 Very much pricier than all my Coleman tents but I do really love them, especially the Base Camp! I'll probably release the videos on these tents only next month in March, as I'm still trying to finish up my Coleman tent videos hahaha 😊

How is it an even comparison when you are rating a4 person and 6 person tent?
I took the dimensions from the equivalent 4 to 6 person tent. The other tests (like rain) should apply regardless of the tent size. Hope this helps!
Great review 👏
