Just bought the Costa Jose’s 580G Copper with no mirror abs love them! I fly and bass fish and love them in the streams. Great video! To the point and NO bs
Very good we need an update on this video to include the green lenses. I fish Long Island sound which, depending on your spot of the day, could be either offshore (deep) or inshore (shallow).
I am not a fan of Oakley products but I do like their lens system that tells you what activity the lens was made for. Oakley uses a system for the type of water your fishing as well.
Rivers and Lakes I would certainly go with the Oakley prizm Shallow water polarized (Rose/Copper base with a Green mirror). Out in the ocean, I would go with the deepwater polarized (Rose/grey base with a Cobalt Blue mirror).
Tell me what is the best color when you wont use costas, but fish in saltwater (mostly sunny days or sunny\cloudy days) where the water is blue\green ish? Fishing for Salmon. Cheers from sweden
I have a question to ask you, how should you have tried these two, which color would you choose, copper or mirror green? I fish exentially in dams where the color of the water is green. Thank you
Copper and Mirror Green really have the same lens color. Both are Copper based lenses, the difference is that the Mirror Green finish helps reflect unwanted light a little better from entering the eye. There are only 3 base colors of lens from Costa, Gray, Copper and Yellow, each allowing differing amounts of light in. The outside finish doesn't change the base lens colour. Go with a mirror green/copper base for your water, they will do the best overall job.
Thanks for the tip, but I continue with a question, how many types has the mirror green lens? What are the mixtures? mirror green gray base, mirror green copper base and mirror green yellow? It's a little confusing for me. Or do I just buy Mirror Green? Sorry for my stupid questions. Thank you
Mirror Green from Costa only has a copper base. Mirror Blue have a gray base, Mirror Silver is also a copper base. No question is stupid, if you're going to invest in a good pair of glasses, you should be certain of what you are buying. IMO, go with the mirror green... the only other decision you have is which frame will fit you best, of which I have no idea...lol
I am very grateful for the clarifications, I was getting confused. I will opt for the green mirror, the voice of the experience is very important. Thank you again.
Hello!! nice vid bro I fish for Largemouth in southern sunny California and i’m heading up north to go to Mammoth Lakes for fishing for Rainbow trout i just don’t know what brand to get or color bro
@@JPDeRoseOutdoors ty, I end up buying the brown lens they work great this week end . I’m think of getting another brown lens with the green sheer tint from the back in the light . Do you think they work better? Or make a difference? FYI I got murky water.
@@toannguyen214dallas honestly try the Sunrise Yellow Silver Mirror. I have been wearing them more and more to the point where I use them as my daily glasses for almost all water conditions in freshwater.
Mirror finish does absolutely nothing. The polarization lens tint is what enhances the contrast. Polarization period is the way to go. I personally do grey polarized at 85% with a blue mirror finish for coolness.
I used green lenses a long time ago and liked them but had a lot of dizziness issues with the brand, likely caused by distortion around the edges of the lens. Costa doesn't have a green lend for me to compare side by side.
@@iusoloman1527 I love the Oakley Prizm shallow water polarized lens for Rivers/streams/lakes.......it has a Rose/Copper base with a Green mirror, unlike their Prizm deep water polarized that comes with a Rose/Grey base with a Cobalt-blue mirror.
#1,,, Don't buy Costa!!!!! Buy Smith Copper polarchromic glases. The will blow away Costa's big time. I have converted 100s of fisherman and women to Smiths. It's a night and day difference. Copper is the go to. We see fish that people with Costa's never see. Don't mater if u are stream fishing, river fishing, lake fishing, or ocean fishing. I have done it all and proved to Costa's owners that smith is waaaaaaaaaaay better. Some literally go get their money back and go buy Smith. Jst being honest. Good luck.😁😎😎😎👍👍👍🎣🎣🎣
Thanks! I finally found a video explaining the differences in lens-tech that is QUICK and to the POINT!

Appreciate it!
Great video! Thanks for explaining "why" green mirror is better than blue mirror for us inshore guys!
Very good we need an update on this video to include the green lenses. I fish Long Island sound which, depending on your spot of the day, could be either offshore (deep) or inshore (shallow).
The Costa mirror green (outside) with copper lens is the best of both worlds if I had to pick one.

A quick video and now i understand better. Thanks!
best breakdown, straight to the point
Which type is best for wade cast netting? Great info by the way.
Great video. Thanks for sharing
This was excellent JP, going to share it to 613BASS'N 😎
I fish in the ocean, where water is dark blue. Do u still recommend me green glass, or I should go with blue. Thank u this helped me a lot!
Mirror Blue Grey Lens would be the best pic for offshore application.
Great vid very helpful thanks.Do Costa provide a service for having a prescription polarised lens?
Yes they do. Just visit the site as they have all the info you are looking for.
Will prizm sapphire help with shallow water?
I have never heard of prism sapphire. What is the rear lens Color?
Oakley. Grey back and blue front
What do the mirror colors matter, or just the base lens color
Base Color is most important
What do you recommend for general use for fishing and driving ? I'm thinking of going with mirror green or mirror silver.
Mirror Green is the best all around lens color to do everyday
hi, what's your take on Oakley model deepwater and shallow water lenses? Fishing in Patagonia (rivers and lakes).
Greetings
Rivers and Lakes I would certainly go with the Oakley prizm Shallow water polarized (Rose/Copper base with a Green mirror). Out in the ocean, I would go with the deepwater polarized (Rose/grey base with a Cobalt Blue mirror).
Thanks for the great info in the video
Would bronze be the same as copper
Close, yes
Hi will I be able to see fish with my Costa Corbina 580g in shallow water I got em for a gift
I can't see why not. What color are the lenses and where do you fish bud?

Where does Amber colored lenses fit in? Amber or Copper for best all around pond fishing? Thanks.
Definitely Copper for all around. Amber will only block 10% of the light and will strain your eyes on bright sunny days
Amber are best for very low light/cloudy overcast or rainy days. Mirror green/copper are my go to for all around fishing situations.
Copper is good on all types no matter what the weather is doing. Plain and simple. 😁😎👍👍👍
Which color iridiums would be good for oakleys
I wore Oakleys quite a few years ago Bruce and didn't mind the Platinum Iridiums. They worked well.
Hello!! nice vid bro I fish for Largemouth in southern sunny California and i’m heading up north to go to Mammoth Lakes for fishing for Rainbow trout i just don’t know what brand to get or color bro
Best all around color is Mirror Green/Copper lens bud. It covers me everywhere I go
Can you apply these “rules” for us guys that can’t afford costas?
Same rules for lens color Leo. Grey is for bright sunny days, Copper doesn't both, amber is for low light
Hope this helps
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😍😍
what color would you get for fish bed during the spawn
Green Mirror/Copper lens is my favourite
@@JPDeRoseOutdoors thanks !!!!!
How do you know it is copper base lens? It don’t say it on the frame?color of the lense? Is it that brown lens looking from the back
Correct. There are 3 main lens colors from Costa when looking through them. Grey, Copper (brownish) and yellow.

They're green and I fish stained to clear water
Perfect. The mirror blue / grey lens was designed for blue offshore water but the green / copper lens is my favourite for inshore and freshwater
No such thing as “the best color lens for fishing” because there are different weather and water conditions
Cheers
