I read on a Reddit thread one thing that makes Watchdog hard is his charge that one hits you. According to people smarter then me, his charge is actually programmed as a defensive technique. That is why there is little to no indicator to it prior. I got to the point where I could read his attacks, but that damn charge always got me, and I know Im not alone on this issue.
Ivan Drago dude the watchdog’s charge is so easy to dodge and it’s CRAZY telegraphed. He flails his head around and lifts it up and to the left with fire in its mouth before lowering its head and charging
No way Defiled Amygdala is harder, I beat him on my third attempt while Watchdog I was stuck for a whole fucking day, I even use the loch shield to prevent his attacks of taking my whole health
Or when you fire at Maria with the fastest firearm (pistol) BEFORE she initiates an attack. She raises her two blades but is parried BEFORE she even swings them down. You try to go for a visceral, but you're suddenly engulfed in fire from her attack which animation *didn't even finish* to begin with. These sorts of things are usually annoyances at worst in other games, but in a game that's utterly bent on killing you (and is hailed by everyone as "tough but fair"), they just leave a bitter taste.
I know I got lucky when I beat the father we were both one hit and he jumped at me and I jumped at him and I got the first hit and killed him. It was my first play through
That's where I"m at with the damn Ludwig fight. I get so close and then I screw up a dodge or I've stayed close wailing on him and then lack the stamina to dodge away. He's the first boss where I'm really having to watch my stamina and it's at the same level my health is.
Cleric beast killed me like that on my first attempt. Was so close. Taught me a valuable lesson that has helped me with the rest of the game so far (leading up to One Reborn, have defeated every boss on first or second attempt due to keeping greed in check)
@Keknov at a certain point its not about skill if ur a level 200 u should be spanking bosses play dark souls and sekiro then play bloodborne again... and no the game doesnt get harder the more u level up its only when u beat the game and go higher in new game plus

Just picked up bloodborne super late. Had never played a souls game before, only had played the bloodborne demo a little. Wandered onto the bridge.... "this looks familiar.." *cleric beast jumps down* "Oh fuck. I remember now.. ABORT MISSION. I REPEAT, ABORT MISSION" *dies*

i died over 30 times to gascoigne at my first playthrough abandoned the game for half a year and played again and now i have the platinum trophy in bloodborne :D
I beat gascoigne on my second attempt on my first play through, but I also died once to the easiest boss the first time, so I honestly don't know what's up with me.
I played in 2016, quit before reaching the cleric beast. Now, I've only got 2 trophies left, beat the yharnam queen, and get the secret ending. I'll probably get it tmrw.
Billybo10K yeah, the way you predict the fall is one of two ways. 1: if he’s landing immediately, you roll as soon as he’s out of frame, then roll again immediately, you should avoid him that way. 2: when he crawls on the ceiling, blood drips from where he is. It drips twice in about a 1 second window, then he drops down. He follows you from above, so keep moving, and roll away after the second drip. Immediately follow with another roll, and you should be safe. Note: If Ludwig’s head hits you, no measure of rolling will save you. It’s kinda unfair, but this is an unlikely scenario.
Killed Gehrman at first try. Died to Moon Presence 4 times. Killed Ludwig and Lady Maria at first try. Died to Living Failures 3 times. What's wrong with me?
I also, no bullshit, someone did him first try. He's really not that bad because he's so easy to parry. Trying to parry fucking Maria though was a nightmare.
The entire fight was parrying Logarius for me. He died super quick, same with Maria although she took a few more tries. Orphan of kos was in my opinion the hardest boss you could parry, mostly because you'll usually get hit anyway and he'll get up before you can use the visceral. Laurence was the biggest pain in the ass for me tho.
Orphan of Kos on my first run took me more attempts than Ornstein and Smough in my first run of Dark Souls, and more than every other boss I fought in Bloodborne *put together.*
Same lol, I was kind of disappointed by Maria and Ludwig, after all the hype about them I've seen in the last 4~ years (got a roommate with a PS4 and finally got a chance to play the game), but then Laurence and OoK schooled me. Orphan alone took me more tries than every other boss in the game put together (even with Laurence, who took me about 25-30 tries). I lost count on my tries with the orphan but I racked up about 9 hours of playtime on my character (a couple 15 minute breaks to farm pigs for the blood vials and bullets). Definitely 1st place hardest boss in any soulsborne game. Gael, who was my number 1 for years is now a veeery distant 2nd place, not even close to orphan lol
This really shows how boss difficulty is different for every player. Some of these so called "hardest bosses" were a cakewalk for me, while other ones further down in the list were a lot more challenging
360player0000 true true i beat vicar amelia quite easily but blood starved beast don't get me started once you learn to parry with a skill build though any boss that is parriable becomes mince meat
360player0000 I think it really depends on play style. My hardest is Ebrietas by far and I still haven't beat after a good thirty tries. Second Rom and Vicca .

Hehe.... Gascogine on my first play through..... faaaaaaaaaakkk..... While many say he is easy, his beast mode is fierce and unrelenting the first playthrough in particular... I died at least 100 times to him due to his difficulty spike mid battle. He just does not back the fk off... I had to end up using the glitch behind the tree to take him down. Hell almost rage quit.... And Darkbeast Paarl..... Lets just say to this day I still despise him despite his common weakness. Without Henryks gear to protect from bolt, his attacks CAN be devestating. Not to mention his swipes can easily stunlock. Besides that though, once you get through those battle and Vicar Amelia, the stage is pretty set. From there l noticed learning boss patterns becomes significantly easier. But hey to each their own haha
For me Ludwig was the hardest probably because I stumbled into ng+ by accident since I didn’t know you automatically go there after beating final boss. I went through DLC first time in ng+ at Bl87 and Ludwig absolutely wrecked me. It was such a relief to finally beat him after about 3 days of trying
Honestly, I have always been surpised to know Cleric Beast is considered one of the easiest and Father Gascoigne one of the harder bosses. The difference between them is night and day. I almost beat Gascoigne first try, but died to a small error. Won him the second try. Cleric Beast on the other hand I fought from 8 pm until midnight. That's 4 hours of pure death, and he was the hardest boss to beat for me in the entire game. Never got the DLC though. Edit: A year ago I clearly didn't want to mention that I hid behind graves while I hit gascoigne with the axe trick weapon, or that since this was my first souls game and first boss I didn't figure out that hiding behind every single enemy is usually fairly effective.
@@heisendurden7467 I plan on getting bloodborne with the dlc if or when it goes on sale. I don't even have the base game currently due to some circumstances. But I'm sure I will love him, he seems like a great guy.
Clerical beast was probably the boss I died most to. I was still "gitting gud", and.... The camera. Wholy hell, the camera is almost as dangerous as the boss. When I came back in NG+ I finished it on my first try
i actually spent like 15 minutes in my first playthrough killing the wolf without a weapon and wandered outside and killed like 2 enemies with molotovs cause i didnt realise i could get a weapon in the dream
This was such a wtf moment for me. I was doing really well, waling on the beast with my bare hands and dodging but of course I did basically no damage until I basically gave up and let it kill me. Then I was like "ohhhhh"
What does this even mean!? I think I beat him on my second attempt, but he was fucking hard, and I did Cainhurst pretty leveled up. But what sword do you shoot and when?

Also, do you keep already unlocked chalice dungeons in NG?), and cleaning up any bosses or areas I didn't on the first go through, plus I'm also into Sekiro right now, but thanks for the tip!
@@blacksiid93 Thanks friend, I thought so, but was a little paranoid to rush through (plus, I still have to beat the Orphan of Kos, and obviously the Moon Presence, though I played around the first time after I beat the Wheelchaired Baddass, and it is an easy boss), but now I'm near done Sekiro, which is SO close to being a near perfect game, but they went retarded with the brutality, but I just started Nioh, and I love it so far, great game, might be a bit before I complete Bloodborne.

It only took 3 hours to beat orphan (I thought he was surprisingly easy), a day to beat laurence, 7 hours to beat midir, 20 minutes to kill fume knight, 1 hour to beat manus and 3 hours to kill sword saint ishin. I dont find him as hard anymore, but I swear for some reason unless I use fire paper and bb pellets and come later in the game, hes a fucking nightmare XD

Elisabeth Dragonknight I would recommend watching vaati’s boss guide, he goes through what moves they have, when to punish and when to stay clear and it’s very very helpful
Honestly, I just used the Shaman's blade and beat him immediately. It took me about 15 tries to kill the living failures, but I got the Orphan on my first try as well lmfao.
No idea why, but I somehow really enjoy the Orphan Of Kos fight. Even though it's frustrating, I just smile. I love the agression and how much pressure it puts on the player with its non stopping attack, but still leaves windows for healing. The 2nd phase is also very epic with the huge lightning attack, the Orphan leaping several hundred feet into the air to come down crashing like a bomb and slightly frustrating but amazing looking attacks with those weird things it throws. I haven't beaten him yet, but I just love the fight in general
yup dat fight really is something ... even i was smiling especially in second phase .. evrything goin on screen was amazing .. & in dat try i beat him ... smile also came due to da reason i felt im gonna get him this time .. i also uploaded that fight on my channel few days back
the bsb is easy if you can not be oneshot by its grab attack, but if you can't and also INCREDIBLY GOOD at parrying, then you should prepare for a bad time.
how is laurence the hardest!? he's cleric beast at the beginning and in phase 2 just dodge lava and his hands when he stomps them then attack when he's doing nothing... its just extremely easy really it didnt take 3 tries to kill him for me
@@chipperdrewski bro my first time beating him was NG+6, it took me around 13 hours to beat him. Orphan took me about 6 hours on that same NG+6 cycle. I have wasted so much of my life on this game
Going through the DLC for the first time on NG+, and yeah, he's definitely the one that has killed me the most as of yet. I do feel like you can *kinda* cheese the second phase a little by running away, baiting the lava breath, hitting the side a few times, and then running away, rinse and repeat, but even then I still feel like I barely got the win on him even once I figured that out.
Laurence was my toughest Micolash was my worst Witches of Hemwick were my easiest Ludwig was my favorite Laurence murdered me at least 40+ times.... And getting up to him was such a pain.... Absolutely hated him. Micolash almost made me break my PS4. A call beyond is so bad it's not even funny. I can not Dodge it, and it always one shots me. I've probably lost 25 times in 3 playthroughs, but it's the longevity of the fight that makes me so pissed. Witches are super easy, nuff said. 4-0. (Celestial Emissary 4-1) I wanted to say them, but I died once on my last playthrough... Broke my heart... Ludwig is a masterpiece. I was only mad if I died from a jump. If it wasn't a jump, Id just tip my cap. What a great fight.
Last time I fought Micolash he used his Ebrietas arm as soon as I jumped down staggered me and I died immiedietly.... Nearly broke my controller after that bullshit
(Got the DLC in ng+) I think that Laurence is harder than Orphan of Kos, mainly becuase I mostly because I have low vitality and most of Laurence attacks one shot.
Glantir Glantir Oh definitely. His first phase is a damn nightmare, but the second one is not that crazy. You can tell what he's gonna do more easily and you can get away from his attacks better. But the path to the second phase is really something else.. 😂
@Nala_xx To be more specific, I personally thought it was mainly the first 25% of the fight, that was just needlessly frustrating and cheap. Almost all of my deaths happened in the first quarter, but it wasn’t too hard for me moving on to Ludwig the Holy Blade, for the most part, on the rare occasions I did get through that initial threshold. (Full details if one desires...) For the first quarter of the fight, Ludwig seems to pretty much spam his two short jump attacks (one where he just leaps forward and pounds down with his hand and another where he jumps offscreen and instantly falls straight down on you). Those two attacks hit like a truck, have almost no telegraph/windup I can detect, almost don’t matter how far away I am, and have such a massive hit-box that they will sometimes be lined up to hit me no matter how I dodge. And once I do get back up or get a lucky dodge in, there’s nothing keeping him from immediately using one of those two attacks again and hitting me, like an opponent spamming the same button presses in an unbalanced fighting game, until I am dead. Now what I find really ironic is that, once I get to the phase where the first 25% to 50% of his health is now being hacked away, Ludwig’s first form actually became easier for me. Even though the new attacks he uses are supposed to ramp up the difficulty, I actually could handle him relatively well and had quite a bit of fun, since those additional attacks all have distinct telegraphs, gave me reasonable time to react, have differing yet clear ways to dodge, and leave Ludwig open for you to either attack or heal. That was when it felt like a real fight, based on quickly learned trial-and-error and developing different strategies to counter each of his unique attacks. It also meant that Ludwig spammed those two quick jump attacks a lot less.
A tip I’ve given to nearly every new Bloodborne player for Ludwig’s jump to the ceiling attack is this: just sprint in a straight line. It is impossible for him to hit you if you do it correctly. Just make sure you have enough stamina to sprint the whole time he’s on the ceiling. I have played through this game 50+ times and that attack never hits me when I do this.
I'm going to try this. I've been making attempts at him for hours spread out over a week so far. I'm not getting hit that much by it now, but still some. I'm glad he telegraphs that charge and I can usually avoid it. I love the fight, but I'm getting annoyed that I've gotten so close and then gotten killed.
Defeated Sigrun on NG+ GMGOW with the Zues set and I gotta say, I'll really miss the yellow and red circles that appear on the boss, that kind of telegraphing missing from Bloodborne is like someone losing their glasses.
It's the exact opposite for me.. I died about 20 times to his 2nd phase.. most of the time I beat the 1st with no damage! Just a perfect timed dodge and he won't touch you. I wonder why? Just one hit of his arcane drops your health to half then he slashes you with the sword! I think I never focused on his back which was my mistake
Agreed. I died to his first phase upwards of 10-20 times, yet didn't die to his 2nd phase once. I just found it so easy to stick to his legs and smash him, only dodging when he does his easy to predict sword swings or AoEs.
I love Gascoigne, both his story as a character and boss fight. I also like that a lot of people realize that he's so much harder than much later bosses. Gascoigne is such a pain to beat for so early into the game, and boy's he's so effin fast and aggressive in his warewolf form. It's like the game wanted to tell you, "look, if you can beat this guy, you can go far in this game". Imo, the hardest bosses are ofc in the dlc and to this day I don't dare to try and beat Kos again because I know I will have to try like 30 times.
I fought them on new game +6,took me four days to kill Ludwig,one week to kill Laurence,and three days to kill Orphan.I don´t know why I didn´t broke my CD,but I wanted to do it.
Bloodborne was my first souls game. Took me probably around 15ish times to kill cleric beast. Id never played anything like it. Then....got to gasgoine and got my ass handed to me. Took me no less than 2 weeks to beat him. The game was so foreign to me. Butt I kept coming back and eventually beat him. I've beaten the game and collected every item at peast 7 times and have since fallen in love with the series. I do wish that they make another bloodborne instead of another sekiro
+SuchName MuchProfile Hahaha! I probably find him the hardest boss in any of the Soulsborne games personally, pretty much all down to that second phase. I died something ridiculous like 20 times against the boss (admittedly the first 12 or so I was ill for) and even when you know that second phase inside out it'll still wreck you sometimes.
Old man gascoigne was really hard for me because I was still playing like I had a nice shield and armor like in dark souls. Had to adapt to bloodborne's fast-paced aggressive style to take him down
I always find these types of lists fascinating since people find difficulty in such different places. I like seeing people's experiences with what challenged them and what didn't, so it was awesome to see the rankings of how many voted for something as hardest boss. Thanks for adding that! For example, I beat Laurence first try, first time I ever faced him. However, even on my second playthrough of the game, Father Gascoigne bodied me and I got stuck there, even though he wasn't voted as very difficult on this list. But fuck Orphan of Kos lol
I've finished all Souls games, beat nameless king on DS3, Ludwig and Kos not too bad but Laurence I actually gave up i can't even get him to half health
I think Kos was an amazing fight, I had lots of fun fighting him, it took me 2 tries to kill him, I loved how fast paced it was. He's probably one of my favourites
TJ Kinder fight it without updating game for first time because after patch i dont know it got weaker. i fought this thing unpatched and it one hitted me everytime (lv300 char with 70 vitality)
TJ Kinder father G was awesome af and fun, except for his fucking cannon. When he turned into a beast and the music built up my heart was hammering. Beat him on my second try, but gosh dang I loved it
The difference between difficulties for certain bosses is so hilarious, for example I beat Maria and Laurence first try no problem and again on NG+1 but died to living failures and micolash quite a few times.
I quit game cuz of that guy..Died about 20 times to his arcane one-shot, went to google how to beat him, tried staying as close as possible to him just to realise that he actually uses that shit regardless how close I am to him..After another about 20 tries where I got rekt by that one-shot,I realised it was time to uninstall..Loved game so much but that ruined it for me to the point that I woudn't play it again even if somebody pay me to play it again.
@@mihaelvonic7900 I also really hate fighting against him. The most devestating thing tho is that you can dodge his one-shot attack with a single forward dash as soon as it starts glowing... (you have to take a step back as soon as he's charging up) Took me 26 tries on NG+, let's see how it turns out in my current run
My first play through I assumed you couldn’t parry gerhman. Don’t know why I didn’t try but it made the fight so much more difficult and kinda fun. It felt like a real dance then. Especially once he starts buffing

I've beaten him twice so far and neither run took more than three attempts. It did feel like I was getting lucky though. I never even went for the sword I just rushed him and made it out alive.
I beated every boss in this game and every boss took no more than 5 maybe sometimes 10 tries but not Logarius... I hate this boss with all my might and I joined the vilebloods just to get back at him. I COULDN'T SLEEP AT NIGHT BECAUSE OF THIS BOSS FOR CHRIST SAKE!!!
Ok in the 3 weeks since I posted my first comment here I've gotten much better at the game and I now find Logarius really easy. I do understand why people find him hard but if you know how to parry decently his sythe attacks have some of the longest windups out of any parriable attack in the game making it really easy to consistantly catch him out and punish him for very high damage. This is further emphasised by how easily he staggers, which allows you lock him down for as long as you have stamina after you get a viceral attack on him. The fight is still hard if he manages to get to phase 2, but it's not all that hard to stop him from being able to trigger that part of the fight in the first place.
Just beat ludwig and I can see why everyone loves him so much. Besting this cursed man was so brutal to learn but damn if it wasn't the best fight in this game by a mile so far.
9:38 this has always tickled my mind a couple of years ago Literally every video I watched on how to defeat Logarius, not one of them shot the sword, they ran like dingalings to hit the damn thing.
Definitely one of those things where when you learn the game the difficulty is very subjective. I died far more to Gascoigne than i have to Orphan of Kos. Living Failures have killed me more than Ebrietas. For my money, i think headless Bloodletting Beast is the hardest boss, followed by Lawrence. Actually, nevermind. The hardest boss is the Winter Lanterns. Eff those things. Oh and that ahole with the unlimited bullets in the blood cave. He has killed me way more than Orphan too. Ugh, i dread that cave every time. At least Orphan is a fair fight.
I know this is Bloodborne, but I just landed the final blow on Gwyn. I've finally beaten the hardest game I've ever played. One of my favourite games of all time. I almost wish I had a PS4 just to get Bloodborne, but getting a system for a few games is ridiculous to me.
Congrats Penguin! Taking down Gwyn is a true rush. If it's ever in your budget, I'd recommend the PS4 highly. Bloodborne and a number of the other exclusives are very worth it in my eyes.

Pretty much all the exclusives are coming to PC, so I'd like to get a good gaming PC and maaaybe a PS4 just for the exclusives like Bloodborne and Until Dawn. And right after I beat Gwyn, I went into New Game+ without a second thought. It's great to see people like you give the series the respect it deserves.
There are allot of other games other than Bloodborne and allot of other games coming out in the future. Unless your collecting welfare, stop being a cheap ass and just get one. All gamers should own at least one of the current gen systems for each gen for the exclusives. I am a PC game and have been for 30 years but I have always owned at least one of the consoles each generation, even if there is no games that were currently out at the time of purchase.
I think it might be because he is so early game. I had a seriously hard time with him. B&B on the other hand I figured out right away his left side was so weak you can literally just walk that way a day his attacks will miss. So I found him extremely easy.
+The Exile I usually fight BSB as my third boss. But I really never had any problem with Gascoigne. As for BSB holly shit what a boss, in the dungeons getting one shot by his grab attack my goooood that made me so mad. I'm Just glad he's the only boss with poison.
I had more trouble with the cleric beast than Gascoigne ... I somehow killed Gascoigne in my first run...I was using the charged spin attack on my big axe and he kept rushing me and getting knocked down for the first two phases ..and a couple of dodges and molotovs took care of his beast form rather quickly.
Lady Maria was an amazing fight The music fight was something extraordinary The best game i ever played and continue playing 👍 Congratulations to the producers
I actaually beat father gascoigne's beast mode first time, but died about ten times to his first phase because I didn't parry. Once I did though, it was a lot easier to take him down.
The great funguy he's super weird for me. In NG++ I died 13 times, but in NG+++ I beat him first try and he wasn't difficult whatsoever. He's a bit weird
I had the opposite problem. First 10 times I fought him I tried to be cute and parry him. When I gave up on that and just go aggressive, I beat him on my first try.
I honestly think that, much like Cleric Beast is meant to teach you strafing and a more aggessive style compared to DS, Gascoigne is intentionally designed to teach parrying.
The fact that a boss like Ludwig can be both hated for his difficulty yet still loved for his lore/character is a sign of great design. Same for Lady Maria, albiet to a lesser extent on the difficulty part.
I didn't die to orphan, but died probably over 50 times to Laurence. Probably over 20 times for Ludwig and Amelia too, along with so many deaths for Father fuckface, Rom, The one Reborn and Martyr
Bloodborne is tied for my favorite games (it's tied with Silent Hill 2 and Mgs 2). I adore this game and I love how everyone find different bosses difficult. I embarrassingly struggled with Mergo's Wet Nurse, but I beat Martyr Logarius on my first try on NG+ and same story with Ebritas. I also spent a whole week on Rom, but I've never died on Amygdala. It's really cool hearing other people's opinions on their hardest boss.

Orphan of Kos is the only Souls-borne boss I haven't been able to beat maybe some day I'll go back to try him again but right now dark souls 3 has my full gaming attention
Fighting Amygdala, Abhorrent Beast and Watchdog with half health was infuriating. I don't feel people that have handled Orphan of Kos have played through the roughest of the chalices. They are where it is truly brutal. With Kos you can heal all day but have fun in the lvl 5 defiled chalice and getting one shotted constantly. No comparison and it is then you will know true frustration.
I was really struggling with orphan, probably on like my 20th+ attempt, so I went to clear up a couple of other bosses I’d missed. I guess something about the game clicked, because next time I fought him, I somehow only got hit once. Shrimp kid didn’t stand a chance. Still one of the hardest bosses I’ve ever fought in any game.
I never got past defiled Amygdala, unfortunately. Having just beaten Dark Souls 3, I'm kinda tempted to go back to BB to see if I can beat her and finally get to Yharnam for that platinum.
+hitdoctor24 If my memory serves me right then go for her legs since unlike normal Amygdala Defiled have weaker legs. Also it's much easier not to get hit if you stay under her.
For me it was: Orphan of Kos (~30) Defiled Watchdog of the Old Lords (~25) Ludwig (16) Ebrietas (~15) Darkbeast Paarl, Blood-Starved Beast, and Father Gascoigne (~10)
I literally just beat Orphan of Kos solo yesterday for the first time. We both had one hit and I just managed to out reach him for my hit. Absolutely exhilarating
Im still suffering from ptsd after the defiled amygdala, but atleast now I can boast about platinum trophy in my conversations with nurses. Iv trully entered the hunters dream.
I found all the fights with same size opponents easy and exciting. Gerhnam, Lady Maria( Favourite fight), Gascoigne, Kos, Shadow of Yarnham, Eileen the crow, Logarius. And all the huge beasts were just crazy hard. I think camera was my main enemy.

I read on a Reddit thread one thing that makes Watchdog hard is his charge that one hits you. According to people smarter then me, his charge is actually programmed as a defensive technique. That is why there is little to no indicator to it prior. I got to the point where I could read his attacks, but that damn charge always got me, and I know Im not alone on this issue.

Ivan Drago dude the watchdog’s charge is so easy to dodge and it’s CRAZY telegraphed. He flails his head around and lifts it up and to the left with fire in its mouth before lowering its head and charging
No way Defiled Amygdala is harder, I beat him on my third attempt while Watchdog I was stuck for a whole fucking day, I even use the loch shield to prevent his attacks of taking my whole health
Lady Maria and Gerhman are definitely my favorite fights. Never frustrated when they kicked my ass, I always felt like I was fighting an equal

Or when you fire at Maria with the fastest firearm (pistol) BEFORE she initiates an attack. She raises her two blades but is parried BEFORE she even swings them down. You try to go for a visceral, but you're suddenly engulfed in fire from her attack which animation *didn't even finish* to begin with. These sorts of things are usually annoyances at worst in other games, but in a game that's utterly bent on killing you (and is hailed by everyone as "tough but fair"), they just leave a bitter taste.

I know I got lucky when I beat the father we were both one hit and he jumped at me and I jumped at him and I got the first hit and killed him. It was my first play through
No worse feeling than getting a boss to 1hp then dying from greediness.
That's where I"m at with the damn Ludwig fight. I get so close and then I screw up a dodge or I've stayed close wailing on him and then lack the stamina to dodge away. He's the first boss where I'm really having to watch my stamina and it's at the same level my health is.
Cleric beast killed me like that on my first attempt. Was so close. Taught me a valuable lesson that has helped me with the rest of the game so far (leading up to One Reborn, have defeated every boss on first or second attempt due to keeping greed in check)

I beat gascoigne on my second attempt on my first play through, but I also died once to the easiest boss the first time, so I honestly don't know what's up with me.
I played in 2016, quit before reaching the cleric beast. Now, I've only got 2 trophies left, beat the yharnam queen, and get the secret ending. I'll probably get it tmrw.

Billybo10K yeah, the way you predict the fall is one of two ways.
1: if he’s landing immediately, you roll as soon as he’s out of frame, then roll again immediately, you should avoid him that way.
2: when he crawls on the ceiling, blood drips from where he is. It drips twice in about a 1 second window, then he drops down. He follows you from above, so keep moving, and roll away after the second drip. Immediately follow with another roll, and you should be safe.
Note: If Ludwig’s head hits you, no measure of rolling will save you. It’s kinda unfair, but this is an unlikely scenario.
This is just an urban legend. Bloodbornes camera doesn’t let you look at the celing, and you can’t see what ludwig is doing

I also, no bullshit, someone did him first try. He's really not that bad because he's so easy to parry. Trying to parry fucking Maria though was a nightmare.
conspiracies are just great stories beat amelia Gascoigne amygdala on my 2nd tries , took me 7 for Logarius
The entire fight was parrying Logarius for me. He died super quick, same with Maria although she took a few more tries. Orphan of kos was in my opinion the hardest boss you could parry, mostly because you'll usually get hit anyway and he'll get up before you can use the visceral. Laurence was the biggest pain in the ass for me tho.
If you're good at parrying , he's a breeze. I'm not good at parrying, but I beat ebrietas first try. Everyone's experience is different
Orphan of Kos on my first run took me more attempts than Ornstein and Smough in my first run of Dark Souls, and more than every other boss I fought in Bloodborne *put together.*
Same lol, I was kind of disappointed by Maria and Ludwig, after all the hype about them I've seen in the last 4~ years (got a roommate with a PS4 and finally got a chance to play the game), but then Laurence and OoK schooled me. Orphan alone took me more tries than every other boss in the game put together (even with Laurence, who took me about 25-30 tries). I lost count on my tries with the orphan but I racked up about 9 hours of playtime on my character (a couple 15 minute breaks to farm pigs for the blood vials and bullets). Definitely 1st place hardest boss in any soulsborne game. Gael, who was my number 1 for years is now a veeery distant 2nd place, not even close to orphan lol

This really shows how boss difficulty is different for every player. Some of these so called "hardest bosses" were a cakewalk for me, while other ones further down in the list were a lot more challenging
360player0000 true true i beat vicar amelia quite easily but blood starved beast don't get me started once you learn to parry with a skill build though any boss that is parriable becomes mince meat
360player0000 I think it really depends on play style. My hardest is Ebrietas by far and I still haven't beat after a good thirty tries. Second Rom and Vicca .

While many say he is easy, his beast mode is fierce and unrelenting the first playthrough in particular... I died at least 100 times to him due to his difficulty spike mid battle. He just does not back the fk off...
I had to end up using the glitch behind the tree to take him down. Hell almost rage quit....

Lets just say to this day I still despise him despite his common weakness. Without Henryks gear to protect from bolt, his attacks CAN be devestating. Not to mention his swipes can easily stunlock.
Besides that though, once you get through those battle and Vicar Amelia, the stage is pretty set. From there l noticed learning boss patterns becomes significantly easier.

For me Ludwig was the hardest probably because I stumbled into ng+ by accident since I didn’t know you automatically go there after beating final boss. I went through DLC first time in ng+ at Bl87 and Ludwig absolutely wrecked me. It was such a relief to finally beat him after about 3 days of trying
Honestly, I have always been surpised to know Cleric Beast is considered one of the easiest and Father Gascoigne one of the harder bosses.
The difference between them is night and day. I almost beat Gascoigne first try, but died to a small error. Won him the second try. Cleric Beast on the other hand I fought from 8 pm until midnight. That's 4 hours of pure death, and he was the hardest boss to beat for me in the entire game. Never got the DLC though.
Edit: A year ago I clearly didn't want to mention that I hid behind graves while I hit gascoigne with the axe trick weapon, or that since this was my first souls game and first boss I didn't figure out that hiding behind every single enemy is usually fairly effective.

Lady Maria is one of those fights where every attack is just gorgeous to look at.
The hardest fight is the wolf in the lab when you have no weapons yet.
i actually spent like 15 minutes in my first playthrough killing the wolf without a weapon and wandered outside and killed like 2 enemies with molotovs cause i didnt realise i could get a weapon in the dream
This was such a wtf moment for me. I was doing really well, waling on the beast with my bare hands and dodging but of course I did basically no damage until I basically gave up and let it kill me. Then I was like "ohhhhh"

I dont find him as hard anymore, but I swear for some reason unless I use fire paper and bb pellets and come later in the game, hes a fucking nightmare XD

No idea why, but I somehow really enjoy the Orphan Of Kos fight. Even though it's frustrating, I just smile. I love the agression and how much pressure it puts on the player with its non stopping attack, but still leaves windows for healing. The 2nd phase is also very epic with the huge lightning attack, the Orphan leaping several hundred feet into the air to come down crashing like a bomb and slightly frustrating but amazing looking attacks with those weird things it throws. I haven't beaten him yet, but I just love the fight in general
honestly wish there was more bosses like orphan, besides the huge aoe projectiles though. those suck.

the bsb is easy if you can not be oneshot by its grab attack, but if you can't and also INCREDIBLY GOOD at parrying, then you should prepare for a bad time.

Going through the DLC for the first time on NG+, and yeah, he's definitely the one that has killed me the most as of yet. I do feel like you can *kinda* cheese the second phase a little by running away, baiting the lava breath, hitting the side a few times, and then running away, rinse and repeat, but even then I still feel like I barely got the win on him even once I figured that out.

Laurence murdered me at least 40+ times.... And getting up to him was such a pain.... Absolutely hated him.
Micolash almost made me break my PS4. A call beyond is so bad it's not even funny. I can not Dodge it, and it always one shots me. I've probably lost 25 times in 3 playthroughs, but it's the longevity of the fight that makes me so pissed.
Witches are super easy, nuff said. 4-0. (Celestial Emissary 4-1) I wanted to say them, but I died once on my last playthrough... Broke my heart...

When fighting micolash he won't use a call beyond if you stay close to him.
Last time I fought Micolash he used his Ebrietas arm as soon as I jumped down staggered me and I died immiedietly.... Nearly broke my controller after that bullshit
I also died to celestial emisarry once on my first playthrough but it was cus my weapon broke mid-battle
(Got the DLC in ng+) I think that Laurence is harder than Orphan of Kos, mainly becuase I mostly because I have low vitality and most of Laurence attacks one shot.
in my opinion Ludwig is weaker in phase 2 ^^. Died several times in Phase 1 but only 1 time in Phase 2 :\ ^^
Glantir Glantir Oh definitely. His first phase is a damn nightmare, but the second one is not that crazy. You can tell what he's gonna do more easily and you can get away from his attacks better. But the path to the second phase is really something else.. 😂

To be more specific, I personally thought it was mainly the first 25% of the fight, that was just needlessly frustrating and cheap. Almost all of my deaths happened in the first quarter, but it wasn’t too hard for me moving on to Ludwig the Holy Blade, for the most part, on the rare occasions I did get through that initial threshold.
(Full details if one desires...)
For the first quarter of the fight, Ludwig seems to pretty much spam his two short jump attacks (one where he just leaps forward and pounds down with his hand and another where he jumps offscreen and instantly falls straight down on you). Those two attacks hit like a truck, have almost no telegraph/windup I can detect, almost don’t matter how far away I am, and have such a massive hit-box that they will sometimes be lined up to hit me no matter how I dodge. And once I do get back up or get a lucky dodge in, there’s nothing keeping him from immediately using one of those two attacks again and hitting me, like an opponent spamming the same button presses in an unbalanced fighting game, until I am dead.
Now what I find really ironic is that, once I get to the phase where the first 25% to 50% of his health is now being hacked away, Ludwig’s first form actually became easier for me. Even though the new attacks he uses are supposed to ramp up the difficulty, I actually could handle him relatively well and had quite a bit of fun, since those additional attacks all have distinct telegraphs, gave me reasonable time to react, have differing yet clear ways to dodge, and leave Ludwig open for you to either attack or heal. That was when it felt like a real fight, based on quickly learned trial-and-error and developing different strategies to counter each of his unique attacks. It also meant that Ludwig spammed those two quick jump attacks a lot less.

A tip I’ve given to nearly every new Bloodborne player for Ludwig’s jump to the ceiling attack is this: just sprint in a straight line. It is impossible for him to hit you if you do it correctly. Just make sure you have enough stamina to sprint the whole time he’s on the ceiling. I have played through this game 50+ times and that attack never hits me when I do this.
I'm going to try this. I've been making attempts at him for hours spread out over a week so far. I'm not getting hit that much by it now, but still some. I'm glad he telegraphs that charge and I can usually avoid it. I love the fight, but I'm getting annoyed that I've gotten so close and then gotten killed.

I finally beat ludwig today...and in my opinion his 2nd phase is way easier than the first.
It's the exact opposite for me.. I died about 20 times to his 2nd phase.. most of the time I beat the 1st with no damage! Just a perfect timed dodge and he won't touch you.
I wonder why? Just one hit of his arcane drops your health to half then he slashes you with the sword! I think I never focused on his back which was my mistake
Agreed. I died to his first phase upwards of 10-20 times, yet didn't die to his 2nd phase once. I just found it so easy to stick to his legs and smash him, only dodging when he does his easy to predict sword swings or AoEs.

I love Gascoigne, both his story as a character and boss fight. I also like that a lot of people realize that he's so much harder than much later bosses. Gascoigne is such a pain to beat for so early into the game, and boy's he's so effin fast and aggressive in his warewolf form. It's like the game wanted to tell you, "look, if you can beat this guy, you can go far in this game". Imo, the hardest bosses are ofc in the dlc and to this day I don't dare to try and beat Kos again because I know I will have to try like 30 times.
When you die to Ludwig 30 times when you even had 2 people helping you.

I really suck at big bosses. I beat the Orphan of Kos in my third try but it took my over one hour to kill Laurence and 40 minutes to finish Ludwig
I found Lawrence to be much harder than Kos. However I destroyed Ludwig on my first attempt.
Mine was the opposite big bosses were easy and small humanoid bosses were hard
for me the two have the same difficulty, both orphan by his tank level as Lawrence by his absurd fire damage.

Bloodborne was my first souls game. Took me probably around 15ish times to kill cleric beast. Id never played anything like it. Then....got to gasgoine and got my ass handed to me. Took me no less than 2 weeks to beat him. The game was so foreign to me. Butt I kept coming back and eventually beat him. I've beaten the game and collected every item at peast 7 times and have since fallen in love with the series. I do wish that they make another bloodborne instead of another sekiro

I probably find him the hardest boss in any of the Soulsborne games personally, pretty much all down to that second phase. I died something ridiculous like 20 times against the boss (admittedly the first 12 or so I was ill for) and even when you know that second phase inside out it'll still wreck you sometimes.

For example, I beat Laurence first try, first time I ever faced him. However, even on my second playthrough of the game, Father Gascoigne bodied me and I got stuck there, even though he wasn't voted as very difficult on this list.

The difference between difficulties for certain bosses is so hilarious, for example I beat Maria and Laurence first try no problem and again on NG+1 but died to living failures and micolash quite a few times.

I quit game cuz of that guy..Died about 20 times to his arcane one-shot, went to google how to beat him, tried staying as close as possible to him just to realise that he actually uses that shit regardless how close I am to him..After another about 20 tries where I got rekt by that one-shot,I realised it was time to uninstall..Loved game so much but that ruined it for me to the point that I woudn't play it again even if somebody pay me to play it again.

My first play through I assumed you couldn’t parry gerhman. Don’t know why I didn’t try but it made the fight so much more difficult and kinda fun. It felt like a real dance then. Especially once he starts buffing

I've beaten him twice so far and neither run took more than three attempts. It did feel like I was getting lucky though. I never even went for the sword I just rushed him and made it out alive.
I beated every boss in this game and every boss took no more than 5 maybe sometimes 10 tries but not Logarius... I hate this boss with all my might and I joined the vilebloods just to get back at him. I COULDN'T SLEEP AT NIGHT BECAUSE OF THIS BOSS FOR CHRIST SAKE!!!
AT yeah. Beating him is the greatest rush. Never felt so relieved and fulfilled. The other bosses are great too, but this was so much better.
Ok in the 3 weeks since I posted my first comment here I've gotten much better at the game and I now find Logarius really easy. I do understand why people find him hard but if you know how to parry decently his sythe attacks have some of the longest windups out of any parriable attack in the game making it really easy to consistantly catch him out and punish him for very high damage. This is further emphasised by how easily he staggers, which allows you lock him down for as long as you have stamina after you get a viceral attack on him. The fight is still hard if he manages to get to phase 2, but it's not all that hard to stop him from being able to trigger that part of the fight in the first place.
Just beat ludwig and I can see why everyone loves him so much. Besting this cursed man was so brutal to learn but damn if it wasn't the best fight in this game by a mile so far.

Definitely one of those things where when you learn the game the difficulty is very subjective. I died far more to Gascoigne than i have to Orphan of Kos. Living Failures have killed me more than Ebrietas. For my money, i think headless Bloodletting Beast is the hardest boss, followed by Lawrence.
Actually, nevermind. The hardest boss is the Winter Lanterns. Eff those things. Oh and that ahole with the unlimited bullets in the blood cave. He has killed me way more than Orphan too. Ugh, i dread that cave every time. At least Orphan is a fair fight.
I know this is Bloodborne, but I just landed the final blow on Gwyn. I've finally beaten the hardest game I've ever played. One of my favourite games of all time. I almost wish I had a PS4 just to get Bloodborne, but getting a system for a few games is ridiculous to me.
Congrats Penguin! Taking down Gwyn is a true rush. If it's ever in your budget, I'd recommend the PS4 highly. Bloodborne and a number of the other exclusives are very worth it in my eyes.

Pretty much all the exclusives are coming to PC, so I'd like to get a good gaming PC and maaaybe a PS4 just for the exclusives like Bloodborne and Until Dawn. There are allot of other games other than Bloodborne and allot of other games coming out in the future. Unless your collecting welfare, stop being a cheap ass and just get one. All gamers should own at least one of the current gen systems for each gen for the exclusives. I am a PC game and have been for 30 years but I have always owned at least one of the consoles each generation, even if there is no games that were currently out at the time of purchase.

I think it might be because he is so early game. I had a seriously hard time with him. B&B on the other hand I figured out right away his left side was so weak you can literally just walk that way a day his attacks will miss. So I found him extremely easy.

I had more trouble with the cleric beast than Gascoigne ... I somehow killed Gascoigne in my first run...I was using the charged spin attack on my big axe and he kept rushing me and getting knocked down for the first two phases ..and a couple of dodges and molotovs took care of his beast form rather quickly.

I actaually beat father gascoigne's beast mode first time, but died about ten times to his first phase because I didn't parry. Once I did though, it was a lot easier to take him down.
The great funguy he's super weird for me. In NG++ I died 13 times, but in NG+++ I beat him first try and he wasn't difficult whatsoever. He's a bit weird
I had the opposite problem. First 10 times I fought him I tried to be cute and parry him. When I gave up on that and just go aggressive, I beat him on my first try.
I just hit him with all my molotov cocktails and demolished his health bar.
I honestly think that, much like Cleric Beast is meant to teach you strafing and a more aggessive style compared to DS, Gascoigne is intentionally designed to teach parrying.
The fact that a boss like Ludwig can be both hated for his difficulty yet still loved for his lore/character is a sign of great design. Same for Lady Maria, albiet to a lesser extent on the difficulty part.

Bloodborne is tied for my favorite games (it's tied with Silent Hill 2 and Mgs 2). I adore this game and I love how everyone find different bosses difficult. I embarrassingly struggled with Mergo's Wet Nurse, but I beat Martyr Logarius on my first try on NG+ and same story with Ebritas. I also spent a whole week on Rom, but I've never died on Amygdala. It's really cool hearing other people's opinions on their hardest boss.
Hardest bosses in Bloodborne:
10 - Naked rolling guys in cursed dungeons
9 - Ludwig when you're trying to get the Holy Moonlight Sword at level 30
8 - The price of blood stone chunks at the insight shop
7 - Trying to get all the items in the Forbidden Woods and realizing you just got lost again
6 - Chalice dungeons' red spiders tracking you down when you think you're safe by the lamp
5 - That cave with the Gatling Gun guy and the blood-starved beast
4 - The Loran Darkbeast's camera
3 - The Loran Darkbeast's framerate

Fighting Amygdala, Abhorrent Beast and Watchdog with half health was infuriating. I don't feel people that have handled Orphan of Kos have played through the roughest of the chalices. They are where it is truly brutal. With Kos you can heal all day but have fun in the lvl 5 defiled chalice and getting one shotted constantly. No comparison and it is then you will know true frustration.
Ngl Laurence on NG+4 is the hardest boss Ive fought in any souls game ive touched. Literal anxiety when i got his health to 1%

I was really struggling with orphan, probably on like my 20th+ attempt, so I went to clear up a couple of other bosses I’d missed. I guess something about the game clicked, because next time I fought him, I somehow only got hit once. Shrimp kid didn’t stand a chance. Still one of the hardest bosses I’ve ever fought in any game.
I never got past defiled Amygdala, unfortunately. Having just beaten Dark Souls 3, I'm kinda tempted to go back to BB to see if I can beat her and finally get to Yharnam for that platinum.
+hitdoctor24 If my memory serves me right then go for her legs since unlike normal Amygdala Defiled have weaker legs. Also it's much easier not to get hit if you stay under her.

I found all the fights with same size opponents easy and exciting. Gerhnam, Lady Maria( Favourite fight), Gascoigne, Kos, Shadow of Yarnham, Eileen the crow, Logarius.
And all the huge beasts were just crazy hard. I think camera was my main enemy.
