I had a stent placed after kidney stone removal, I barely feel it and it doesn't affect me very much. It doesn't feel any worse than a tampon or a menstrual cup, you can feel that it's there but it's not an issue. I'm having it removed in a few days. Good luck to the other people who have to go through this!

    Hello everyone ,
Yesterday i got my stent removed that was after 10 days of my kidney stone cystoscopy operation.
I was really worried after reading the comments here but it was not much of a problem at all.
The local anesthetic jelly is applied only at that time some minor pain occurs... after that while removing the stent just take deep breathes and relax don’t concentrate on the stent... it will be removed in no time .
After that for 2-3 times your urine will ejaculate some blood vessels and clots... and you’ll be absolutely ok after that.
No need to worry at all.

Just got my stent removed using a flexible cystocope this afternoon (male, 53 years old). Overall, the pain was mild and bearable using just local jelly anesthesic. It's more uncomfortable than painful although the nurse told me that some patients find it very painful although most do not. I feel fortunate to belong to the latter group. The most painful part is when the tip of the scope passes through the prostate (as it's narrower there) but that is only for a split second. I give that pain rating a 6/10. Once the tip gets to the bladder, the pain dissapears. The next painful part is when the urologist retracts the stent out of the body. That pain felt like 5/10 when it goes through the penis but only last a second or so. Not bad at all. The worst part is that you will pee blood for the next day or two and the urine burning sensation in the first hour is pretty painful (7/10), but that urination pain subsides immensely even just 3 hours later. Good luck guys, it's really not that bad.

There is pain when i pee.. Thats cuz urin moves upwards to the kidney since the sphincters are always open now.. It really hurts.. Still i can manage it.. Now my tension is the removal of stent🥺. Removal of foleys catheter from penis itself was horrible.. How about the long stent starting from kidney thenn!!!🥲🥺🥺🥺

These drs think everyone is an addict so I can’t get pain meds. I can’t even function. I keep daydreaming about shoving something up there and pulling it out myself. This is abuse leaving people like this with no pain meds. Never again.

I had my first stent inserted 4 months ago, taking aside my bad reaction to anesthesia post-surgery, I was in a lot of pain right after the surgery. It was a day care procedure but they kept me overnight.
I passed blood in urine the first hours post surgery and following days were OK provided I drank plenty of water.
5 days ago they were due to remove my stent with gel, but couldn't because of a lot stones around the stent (caused the by the stent). I had a procedure yesterday with laser (general anesthesia) to remove the stones and stent but unfortunately not all stones could be removed. Stent was removed, new one put in (this time I felt fine after the surgery with very clear urine the next hours) and hopefully in 2 weeks a repeat procedure to remove stent and remaining stones.
Having a stent put in can be a different experience for all but for me it was not a nice one due to the stones (I actually had no stone before having a stent, they put a stent to help with the diagnosis of upj obst). I'm only worried about the calculi formation in my body and whether and when they will all be taken out with no long lasting repercussions on my body.

Was admitted to hospital on New Year’s Day, the pain of my kidney made my blood pressure exert 200/can’t remember but I remember the other quote but the paramedic in the ambulance was surprised and worried,
I can’t recall what happened then but I remember waking up being told that I had a kidney stone 2.2 x 1.4 mm in my right, I was then transported to another hospital that had a Urology Specialist Department,
They worked on my Ureter tube installing the bypass and sent me home after 24 hours, the only thing that went bad is that I had a bad infection straight after that made me feel pain every time I took a piss,
I’ve got my next operation in 3 days and can’t wait to get back to work, being bed bound sucks

IF YOU HAVE A PAIN WHILE PEEING TRY THIS: WORKED FOR ME MALE 30 WITH SEVERE PAIN WHILE PEEING WAS TO STANDING, BEND LEG ON THE SIDE OF STENT COMPLETLY IN THE KNEE AND ELEVATE IT AS HIGH AS YOU CAN, AND LEAN TO THE SIDE OPPOSITE TO THE STEM, IT IS DIFFICULT TO MAINTAIN AND TO REACH TOILET BOWL SO BETTER USE SOME KIND OF BOTTLE.
Pain is caused by the urine reflux to the kidney whitch irritates it, bending the leg partially block this from happening

Had my stent removed yesterday, it was horrible, not so much painful, it’s a sensation I can’t describe, the most painful parts were when the gel was injected down the urethra and when the camera went bast the prostate, other than that it was just very uncomfortable, the real pain is when your first pee after, that burning sensation was ungodly, it eased through the day the more I peed, I feel completely fine today tho, it’s not a very nice procedure but the pain is very very tolerable

Anyone have 2 stents for 3 months? My stone removal was postponed due to UTI and I have had both stents in for 3 months now. I work in concert production, which is physical labor that involves lifting and climbing. It has been torturous to say the least. Thick blood in urine during most work days, and my testicles/groin area constantly ache. I am finally clear for lithro surgery in 2 more days. I don't think I can continue working much longer like this. The last week I can barely walk, or stand up straight. Anyone have a similar experience. My moral is almost non-existent at this point. • @carmenrowe1292
      @carmenrowe1292 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

Likely not. Before you have your procedure you should ask the dr how they plan to treat your pain because some of these urologists are straight up cruel and will let you suffer. Make sure they will offer you adequate narcotic pain meds for your pain if you end up being in pain. Ask beforehand and don’t be afraid to call patient relations because it’s straight up abuse in my opinion. I can’t tolerate a stent. They are worse than the stone for me. I just had a 15mm and they placed a stent around it. I went an entire month with no pain meds and these urologists were really accusing me of seeking pain meds. Of course I was. I was in ridiculous pain. If they aren’t willing to treat you with narcotics (only if you need them) make sure you “know a guy.” If you catch my drift.

I just had my DJ stent extracted earlier this afternoon. I can say that the procedure is not that painful, although I suggest to make sure you empty your bladder first before the procedure as you will not be wearing any foley catheter. I didn’t know my bladder was full until the stent was removed because I felt the urge to urinate. It took me seconds before I can actually pass my urine. I felt the relief afterwards.😂

Try to get it removed as sson as possible. The more you wait there is a change calculi forming around the stent and then it can be difficult to remove. I have got stent removed four times in span of 10 years. Just assure you it's not as painful as it sounds, anxiety kills you more than actual pain. Just keep your body as relaxed as possible when they remove the stent, the more relaxed you'll keep your body while the procedure the more fast and easy removal will be. It is little uncomfortable but it's surely painless

    Hubby got stent now.
He had Ct scan 2020 feb- 1st stone 4.3mm stone in which he passed it- was v painful; 2nd stone-8mm -advised laser lithotripsy which didn’t happen til 3 days ago 26th June.
June 18,2021 - had blood in urine and back pain. (We think he passed the stone)
June 24,2021 - had xray. Haven’t seen radiologic findings. (We think surgeon had not seen this report)
    I have asked surgeon these:
-is stone still same size, has it grown bigger?
-are there any other stones aside from that one?
-is stone still in the same position as to where it was?
Surgeon answered not confidently. No direct answer.
However, when he had the procedure, no stone was found. Surgeon said he had a look and dye was also put in for clearer view.
In short operation was done for nothing really.
    Question:
1.) In your opinion, did the stone pass?
2.) Was the surgeon negligent to his practice by having the procedure without stone. Do you think the surgeon failed to look at the latest xray? He said answers very vaguely.
    What are your opinion guys?
We need to check latest xray findings and then we might complain as we think the operation was unecessary should he check latest xray...?? Or is this a negligent case that we should fight about for future parients??

Nephrolithotomy is the most painful by far and usually only a last case scenario when the stones are massive. Those who have done kidney laser operations, after the surgery, until the stent inside you does not open, you don't eat and drink watermelon, pineapple, lemon juice, malta juice, you can drink just water. coconut juice and sugarcane juice, i know about this because i have done operations thanks

Sometimes you go home the same day but only if it's done in the morning. Otherwise, you only need to stay one night in the hospital.
You'll have a burning sensation when you pee but it's tolerable. It'll likely take a few weeks until you're fully recovered, though. Even so, some discomfort can remain until they remove the stent... Ask your doctor about painkillers.
