I had this procedure yesterday & had spent 8 days worrying terribly because of negative comments that I'd read. We all have different pain thresholds so if one person found it agony it doesn't mean that you will. An anesthetic gel was applied, I found the insertion slightly painful for a second & then a little bit uncomfortable. This was done on the NHS & everyone was so kind & considerate. The anxiety was far worse than the procedure. Afterwards I felt fine & went home on the bus. It stung a little the first couple of times that I peed. I was later incredibly tired even in to the following day but I'm in my eighties so so perhaps that's the reason.
Funny, I just had it today and I never worried about it beforehand. Hardly thought about it tbh. Even as I was laying there and they were just about to get the thing inserted into my penis I was like, "yeah whatever". However, as it went in I did not like it at all. I could feel this intrusive burning throughout my urethra and as they pushed it deeper it felt even more violating. I remember the doctor was talking to me at some point and I was thinking "Am I supposed to just have a chat during this?" I was focused on keeping my body as relaxed as possible but I just wished I had a piece of wood to bite into. After it was done I had intense lingering pain which they assured me was "normal". It gradually subsided over about two hours. However When I tried to pee for the first time at home the pain was mind numbing, it's like I was passing drain acid and my urethra clammed shut as a reflex. Took a few pushes to finally get it going. As I am writing this 12h hours have passed since the procedure. I peed 3 times so far and it burns like crazy. I even passed air bubbles at some point which I am not sure if is normal or not. Good news is I think the last time was a bit less bad so that makes me hopefull I am past the worst of it. I litterally have to brace myself before I going to the toilet hahaha. Hopefully I don't scare anybody, seems like I got it worse than most but I am still able to laugh about it.
Had this done 25 yrs ago at 52 yrs old. Was virtually painless and very little discomfort. Don’t remember any numbing gel being applied only some lube applied on the instrument. Very simple & quick procedure. Drove home myself 250 miles right after. 👍
Had this done yesterday here in the UK on the NHS. I was so worried about the pain that I have red about and that made me really anxious. However, the ONLY pain I feklt was wehwn the Dr put water into my bladderr and it was for only a scond or two. The numbing agent works great!! Did not feel it go in and come out!!

Depends on the person,we all have varying pain threshold’s, as a rule it is the thought of the process and the anxiety. When all said and done, rather a few moments of discomfort than undetected cancer.
Lasted amount 20 minutes wasn't no major pain very slight tingling when they moved the scope it was a breeze not as painful as the few people in the comments say it is.
So from the comments I’ve read, it seems to depend on the person what they experience during the procedure. I’m preparing now 5/1/24, and I’m not geared up for this. They said it’s the doctors preference to do this before they do the urologist- dynamic 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Had this done Thursday but I was under anesthesia because I had also got a laproscopy done as well. My urologist wanted to make sure that my endometriosis hadn't spread to my bladder. It mentioned a burning sensation with bleeding and I didn't realize it until now i had that for about 3 days after my surgery. I was scared i had gotten a UTI turns out it was normal because of the cystoscopy.
Had this done a few years back. I had to hold and squeeze my own fist to help me get thru the excruciating pain. It only hurts for a moment. Then once this thing is inside the bladder, the pain is gone and you have survived.
@@julianD23 I was having pain when peeing. Happened a few times. At one point I even saw a lil pink/reddish color in my urine. That’s when I went to go see the doctor. I’ve had it done several times the only real discomfort is what they initially put the tube in your way through but that doesn’t really even hurt it’s just uncomfortable the jail burns a little tiny bit but then you feel that it’s been to the doctor to but no really pain
Jesus thats an awfully big rod going thru that tiny little hole.I gotta do this in 6 weeks. i asked my urologist (female) to have mercy & buy some 'infant size' catheters.
if you are a short male like me (1.68 m about 5'6") those cystoscopes incl a working channel are way too large in diameter. If you know you got a size XS I advise you to ask for GA.
Make sure you do get numbing gel just had it done today and they didnt use anything pain is unreal i thought i had a high threshold for pain but have to admit i had tears in my eyes with a big stainless steel tube down my dick and a female doing the procedure.GOOD LUCK
I had this done yesterday. I was super scared and looked for answered about pain! I will say it took about 30 mins. I did get local anesthesia, and it’s not painful but the feeling of the pressure is at about 4. I needed my urethra to contract so they had to dilate me and that’s where most of the time went and the pain of a 6. I will say it does burn when you go urinate after with a pain of 7 but that’s for 10-15 secs or however long you urinate. And you will have blood all within the first 24-48 hours. After you will be fine I promise.

@@julianD23 What kind of test are you talking about? You mean about the diameter? 🤣 All good! Well... I read the report of the first surgery and I read everything down there was pretty tight. He wrote he had severe difficulties pushing the cystoscope through on more than one occasion. Of course there's the urethra and the prostate and the bladder sphincter. After surgery I was bleeding out of my d*ick the whole day. Additionally to the abundant deep red bloody urine from my urether and kidney there had been additional blood coming out along the outside of the catheter.
