You mentioned a universal ammo buff which I think is need for medium guns as a whole. I think medium ammo on larger slot guns should start losing damage at 30 meters rather than 20 like the compact ammo weapons.
I think there are a few ways to make the Pax better. First, move the blade on the Claw to the front of the pistol, and make it longer so it has a larger reach, like the sabre. Then, add a stock so it can be swung around and also braced for accuracy. These modifications would probably make it a 3-slot weapon, but that's a fair trade for all the upgrades. Then, give it explosive ammo, but like, one really big explosive chad bullet instead of a cylinder of itty bitty explodey bullets. After all of these changes, you'd have the Bomb Lance, which is what Home's next video should be about.
After a comment like that, bomb lance mandatory next video Twas once a time where I swapped from bomb lance to my dusters to melee an enemy hunter, The moment was so hilarious we were contacted by that duo and have played together multiple times XD
I vibe with the Pax so much. It only needs a little bit. I'd buff the range a little and make the barrel longer. Same for the Claw. Then, introduce a QuickDraw variant with the original barrel and shorter range that's drawn real fast. There's a historical version of the Single Action Army that reflects this
Give it obviously worse bullet velocity, 280 like the scotfield makes sense, the hip fire of the new 92 abd call the variant "pax gunslinger" or "pax gunfighter" and I think there is a very viable and balanced weapon
Colt made a 3 inch barrel sheriff's model of the SAA and one with a 7 1/2 inch barrel which could support the concept very easily. The pax in game seems to be the 5 1/2 inch version...I'd say they could increase the muzzle velocity on the long barrel version at a cost of slow loading/inability to fan accurately and give the short barrel version less muzzle velocity while decreasing the reloading time a bit as well as giving it better fanning accuracy but at a shorter distance.
@@Echolaliaxu True but it already happens with existing pistols...with or without fanning. I usually use two conversions one in each slot (not dual wielded).
@@revenantchild Well, if the current swapping is inconsequentially faster than simply shooting (which I think it is), then adding a variant that is drawn faster will be a problem. If it already is consequentially faster, than adding a variant that is drawn faster will only add to the problem. I myself like the idea and don't think 'quickdrawing' or 'gunslinging' would be broken if it was a bit faster but the devs nerfed the draw speed back in the day if I remember right, so they might have considered that to be a problem.
Pax should get something unique. I suggest a "quick draw" variant. The gun model can have a lightened frame/grip, "melted" edges, etc. The only mechanical change is that swapping to it is marginally faster. Maybe 20% would be plenty. That makes for a very compelling backup to a single shot main weapon.
Pax has always been my fav, there’s something about its snappy *crack* bullet sfx that’s real satisfying when followed by a headshot 👌🏻 Would love 3 slot carbine variant like the officer too.
@@Thatoneguard agreed the vanguard skin makes me buy this beauty over the Scotfield spitfire which would be the obvious choice for anyone who doesn't have fanning and wants a useful secondary (I even prefer the sights of the Scotfield haha)
Just making the pax claw do the same damage as the knife will be enough for me. I guess it has somewhat of a niche with dum dum ammo and shoots relatively fast for a pistol. A real shame the Scottfield completely replaced it rather than being healthy competition for the Pax. Edit: also the dum dum ammo in my opinion should cause medium bleeding because it comes from the medium ammo of the Pax.
I want a longer-barreled Pax, purely for cosmetic reasons. The 5 1/2" SAA that the Pax is based on is alright looking but it'd look cooler with a 7 1/2" barrel. And then I want a Colt Buntline variant with a silly 12" barrel that has longer damage drop-off and FMJ ammo to go with it to make it a pocket sniper.
That's what I've been saying for a while. Give us a Buntline and HVs. Buntline should have rifle range statistics with higher velocity, but the same damage.
Pax carbine mayhaps? Modern single action army's are converted to carbines all the time, so it wouldn't be outside the realm of possibility. And we only have one pistol carbine variant, it'd add something we don't have although it'd compete with the scottfield precision a bit I feel.
With that they could add Hi-Velocity to the pax ammo pool, giving the vetterli a sidearm to pool its HV with. That and a general med ammo buff would be fantastic
The Pax is pretty much my favorite sidearm for any shotgun, and for the Betterli. If im not running the uppercut for the extra spare ammo I'll pack one with my long ammo too. Just feels smooth, and magnetizes to peoples head, love it

I’ve been saying poison ammo for the pax. Sure poison ammo isn’t something you typically see, but currently the only medium poison ammo is on the centennial, which struggles a bit with ammo reserve so being able to supplement that with a poison pax would be nice. Also poison pax is just fun to say so it has that going for it as wel
The pax is my favorite pistol in the game. I'd like to see an extended barrel variant, or penetration on medium dum dum ammo. I feel like an extended barrel would be nice for giving the pax a little extra distance, though not much, and reduced recoil. Of course, I could see the longer barrel reducing the stability of the weapon overall, faster sighted shots would be nice for longer ranges. As it is now: it's possible to fire the pax before the sights are aligned, after a shot is taken. The added weight of the extended barrel, would help mitigate the effects of recoil. Sure, hip firing might be less accurate, but that wouldn't bother me all that much. As for added penetration on dum dum ammo: Though it would likely cause a surge in popularity, it would be short lived. Medium dum dum ammo being available on only the Springfield and pax, along with the penetration being underwhelming, would likely cause the hype to die down quickly. However, being able to penetrate in some situations, would make dum dum ammo more viable. While I don't see it as underpowered, I doubt it would become the standard pick over medium fmj, if it got buffed. I don't care if the pax never gets buffs, or better variants, but they would make me happy. I own a real clone of the gun the pax is based off of, and love that the pax does a great job of emulating my first irl handgun. It feels great to play with in game, and I will always take the pax over the scottsfield. Not because the scottsfield is bad, but because I love the pax.
I always liked the Pax for its "basicness", but i fell like i got more and more alone with this opinion. Okay they could buff the claw to actaually do the stuff ingame it already does in the trailer :)
if we're talking varients to make the pax stand out a bit, I think a long barrel version with slightly higher damage and slightly higher muzzle velocity/range could be a good choice, it'd be the babby uppercut, finding a midrange between existing weapons which is kind of the medium ammo thing, and maybe a shorter barrel variant with bonus ammo capacity, making it a pack-mule kind of sidearm. make the pax a Utility pick to the scottfield's straight combat ability.
Howdy Homeboy Reel. Personally, I’d like to see a Pax “Big Iron” variant. Deals more damage, but fires slower and has more recoil. Having high velocity as a special ammo type would also be interesting for the Pax
High velocity focuses on the main diffrence between it and the scottfield. Pax has a higher velocity than the normal scottfield. People often run fmj which slows down the bullet. Pax getting high velocity gives it a place. Also means theres a pistol than can compete with the velocity of the uppercut
I love the Pax. It's just a solid pistol that does what it needs to do without fancy stuff. It makes it a pleasure to shoot with. I get that it needs some progression and high velocity, some kind of sight and more ammo wouldn't be bad but as I love the basic version I'll still run it a lot.
Pax is my go to pistol without fannning or quartermaster. I often use dumdum to get that extra bleed effect since the damage output alone is not too powerful to deter an enemy pushing in on me. Dual wielding it is better to take the conversions or scottfield, especially te swift. I think medium ammo though is in general underwhelming. It needs a buff in general. For a varient, I would like to see a deadeye pax. Need another precision varient for medium ammo.
I want to see a medium ammo, medium slot rifle with a magazine to fill that niche that exists for both compact and long ammo builds but not medium. The Pax is fine where it is imo because it's a nice reliable, affordable option. It could do with perhaps a minor buff but nothing drastic.
I dunno why they've never added a Buntline (long barrel, stockless) version of the Pax when it's a pretty well requested gun and would be a fairly unique edition. Add a minor damage and velocity increase with the longer barrel, perhaps to 120 damage with 360 FPS and you'd have a decent two slot weapon that could compete with the Stocksfield.
honesty really like this gun, I think its better than the standard Scofield, so if I want a semi cheap pistol I just use the pax cause its medium ammo and does the job
I think the first thing it needs is high velocity. Running high velocity on the vertili is a option for sniping but there is no way to add to your reserve pool. The nagant gets a velocity of 490 with the ammo type and I think it'd be pretty cool to have a pax that has the bullet speed of a Springfield. Like someone else suggested as well explosive rounds might also be good. Would be a good pocket breach gun that isn't expensive like the upercut. I also think it needs a price reduction. With the addition of the new army and spitfire we have rapid fire pistols that are either cheaper or barely above the price of a pax and arguably both are better than a pax even without special ammo. The pax was my favorite pistol before special ammo update. But now with other competitive choices and lack of variants and bullet type there really is no reason to use it anymore. I'll actually go a step further give it poison as well. Why not? If it's not gonna have any variants why not just give it all the ammo? No one is ever gonna use centennial poison but pax posion? Might actually have it's uses
My answer is to give it HVs to stack with the Vetterli. Also add a buntline special. Long barrel pax with rifle drop-off stats and range. Damage stays the same, but velocity is increased.
I think one big point you forgot to mention @HomeReel is that the pax is the shotgunners best friend if they are doing under $500 loadouts It's faster bullet speed and slightly better handling can often be just enough for somebody with a caldwell rival to poke somebody at range when a Scotfeild might miss
here's an idea. Make the standard PAX with a 7.5 inch barrel, not the current 5 inch. Increase muzzle velocity and slightly decrease sway. Current barrel lenght PAX becomes the spitfire or brawler. Or we go extra-special. We base the PAX on the Colt buntline, wich has an insane 12 inch barrel. We can go even further= There is a stocked version of this pistol aswel. The insane barrel lenght makes it look ridicilous, but its a chance for a revolver simular to an uppercut but in the medium ammo category.
Right now I only have love for the pax in 3 situations. 1) it’s a good secondary for a shotgun or crossbow (but so is the scottfield). 2) it’s a very good dual wield weapon (but so is the scottfield). 3) it’s a good way to get extra dumdum ammo on the Springfield. So actually there’s only one situation where I have love for the pax, that’s a bummer. …to be fair I do love the pax, I just wish there was a reason to run it over the scottfield but they’re so similar that it’s not really a consideration. The dum dum ammo of the Springfield is actually so fun though, give it a shot.
I love the red rising reference it’s always cool to know that other people have read the series, I think a pax spitfire would be with a short barrel and a birds head grip
As has been said multiple times already, Colt Buntline would be a good addition IMO. A Medium size variant, but still no stock, just a very long barrel, over 10 inches. You'd definitely have much higher muzzle velocity, probably higher damage as well, and maybe even better stability, because heavier pistols with longer barrels are usually easier to shoot accurately.
I love the pax i think high velocity is the best thing for the pax its boosting the vetterli and its like ying and yung with the scottfield fmj for scottfield (slower) high velocity for pax (faster)
This might sound weird, but I kinda would like to see a Pax Target pistol version, that sacrifices ammo and shooting rate for high damage and even less sway and then accompany it with high velo ammo, to give it more synergy with the vetterli in general.
There’s a real life version you’re probably thinking of with that, the bisley model, however I’d say it doesn’t need the sacrifice of ammo. Just make it a little more expensive.
The pax is by far the best single action pistol there is in the whole game bar none. You say theres not a lot of options because the weapon is already on its own phenomenal. Decent fire rate, faster than both the conversion and uppercut. Amazing hipfire accuracy, amazing gun feel. Whereas conversion needs fmj to feel competitive and uppercut is just dog shit other than the fact that its long ammo w a pistol, the pistol fits perfectly between both. Theres not much you can do for a gun that its so good, its boring. Only update i would add to the pax, which would make it through the roof competitive is one simple thing that even the winny has now: FMJ. Once you put fmjs on the pax, fuck the scotfield, people will be running w the pax more often.
I actually really like the Pax as it is. No reason other than it works for me. Idk if it's the sight picture or what, but I feel I do quite well with it.
I think I can offer a set of solutions based on real life, longer 7.5” barrel, Buntline model, give it a stock of either wire or a flask, call it the artillery model. This is one idea. The bisley model is another one, being a target shooting variant that could act more as a medium ammo uppercut. The final 3 are quite unique, being a american equivalent to the nagant officer, the colt lightning, thunderer, and rainmaker revolvers. These would be equivalent to the nagant officer in their roles.
I would love if they made a pax precision and maybe even a deadeye variant. Steady Hand could have one more scoped pistol and if they gave the Pax HV you could pair it with the Betterli or use it on its own as a medium ammo head clicker.
I've been coming around to the pax more due to the "Ripper" skin. I love taking it with fanning, fire rounds, and Romero with dragons breath when I just need to burn everything
Maybe a long barrel variant with some kind of crude flash hider built in, increasing the muzzle velocity and reducing the muzzle flash. Giving the pistol a "stealth" variant without adding a suppressor. Would be nice if it had the old west version of night sights as well, they would put gold pegs in the front blade to reflect light.
Honestly, the Buntline would be a really cool option, with a stock make it a 3-slot weapon with a better rate of fire than the base models. Alternatively the Thunderer/lightning would be amazing. To those unfamiliar those pistols were double action revolvers based on the SAA's frame. A true double action medium pistol would be an amazing option. Making it cost ~150 dollars would keep a place for the spitfire as the budget choice.
Buff medium ammo falloff, increase the muzzle velocity of the pax. Having it have say, a 370m/s velocity will make it so that it's a more mid range pistol.
I think they need to offer a speed reload variant where you can pull out the cylinder and put another loaded one in, but you don't lose the spare bullets like the Schofield Swift. That or a beefed up version like the uppercut but cheaper and with only five rounds instead of six.
I think high velocity rounds and a variant more suited to longer range headclicking could give it a solid niche. Be it a "long barrel" version or whatever historical thing they can find
I also think it could benefit from 7.5 to 10 inch long barrel version for tighter spread and make the plain version the 4.25inch long barrel. Having a stocked or braced variant would be cool too. But it definitely needs something to make it more interesting.
I talked about the Pax with my Hunt Squad and I said it is my favourite Revolver in the Game (I know that there are better options but it just feels the best) and I thought about maybe adding a silenced variant would buff it
I vote for HV ammo for the Pax since the scottfield doesn't have it, also pax deadeye/carbine would be cool since the scottfield doesn't have either of those, further differentiating them.
Maybe a mace variant? There should be more blunt mele focused guns could help it fill a role. The Scottfield already has a precision mid bullet category but maybe they do a long barrel pax to increase bullet velocity is another option
For me the pax is the perfect pistol for midle range in shotgun loadouts if i also want fanning. If i dont want fanning i go for the uppercut. There is also an argument for conversion pistols with fmj but i try to avoid special ammo.
besides any varient, i think they could give the pax poison ammo. Not because poison is exceptionally great in its own merit, but because the pax would see an increased pick-rate when paired with poison centinal, which is seeing some play in 1.9 but is held back by a low ammo pool. no other medium weapon has poison ammo to draw from.
For some reason I feel like the Pax is more accurate than the Scottfield. I can't back that up with data. But in Quickplay I regularly choose a Pax over any Scott I might find, even the Scott Precision. And I like the dual Pax almost as much as dual Conversions. Though again, the data doesn't back it up.
The Pax deserves at least: 1) High Velocity ammo 2) Claw to do same dmg as knife 3) Pax Conversion dmg lowered to 99 (from 104?), to make reg Pax look more compelling (and so Conversion falls more inline with other Compact sidearms) 4) Slight ammo buff for all Med sidearms
One idea is to have a variant of the Pax with the option to spin and twirl your gun while having an extended monologue about how you love to reload during the midst of battle because there's nothing like the feeling of slamming a long silver bullet into a well greased chamber. Player's in visual range (would be a good opportunity for ray tracing) and audible range are forced into a 1v1 arena where players will have to win a quick draw with their secondary and other players spectate in a circle to watch while they wait their turn and are required to press the use button to laugh when the pax player makes a joke. Sidearms that are not revolvers will sometimes randomly jam during duels but those players are revolver players anyway as they twist their elbow to absorb the recoil. I think this change would increase options for the player for additional playing styles without overshadowing the existing guns or introducing power creep. Or I guess maybe the Pax can ricochet around corners
I'd say they should add something like the 2 cylinder revolvers for a pax variant, that way it's still an overall different thing, but you get 12 shots, with kind of bumping one cylinder out of the way for the other after 6 shots have been fired
i would like to see a pax silencer variant. would pair good with other medium weapons for ammo boost while also allowing easy stealthy AI removal, (kinda like winnie and silence nagant), and also the combination of silence and dumdum would give it a unique niche (but might make it too strong considering that bow and x-bow kinda do the same and are balanced by slow projectile speed/ fire rate / bullet-drop )
PAX needs a long barrel variant. With faster velocity and longer range. Maybe a PAX Calvery Carbine a medium ammo version of the officer Carbine give it a stock and longer barrel 1 less round slower fire rate better damage and range. Or a Quickdraw PAX make the barrel shorter and put a larger hammer so it's closer to the scotfield spitfire
The PAX is sick and needs no changes. I either use it or the uppercut as a sidearm depending on my mood. It has really good sights and a decent fire rate and the dmg means that two shot kills are as consistent as a winnie. I needs no traits to work. Its true that I dont see it much used in the top brackets on EU (Dolch and upper is the only sidearms I face.... ) but that has more to do with the general money balance (complete lack off) in Hunt than the weapon. If anything I would simply drop its price to 80-85 and leave it at that. Then it would be the budget king for two tapping without traits.
I love the standard vetterli and Pax I think they are great weapons especially the vetterli which I feel is slept on,imo the pax is still good but the scotfield spitfire has crept up in my load outs way more than the pax in recent times, however the pax is no where near the likes of the bornheim in terms of no longer having much of a place any more,I hate the Bornheim with a passion but that gun needs some help as its a really bad place
what about a long barrel version that takes up to slots or a precision with a stock like we have seen before - or maybe a swift where you replace the whole cylinder. A chain is definitely a good idea - what about a silenced version? I wouldn't mind a mace version al well...
Given that the Scottfield obviously has more 'rapid' options from fire rate to reloads , what do you think about giving the Pax more precision options ? Like , something akin to a Cattleman's Carbine or the Nagant carbine . Sturdy stock for less sway , and larger barrel for higher muzzle velocity - in exchange for higher price , and needing a larger slot . I have 0 clue if a varying muzzle velocity based off barrel is something Crytek could do for a weapon variant , but I think it would help the Pax carve out it's niche .
Problem with all these suggestions are the fact that crytek base additions on realism most of the time, meaning high velocity and silencer attachments are off the table due to revolver cylinder gap, which means our only options for pax variants are fmj ammo , a buggy/bluntline carbine (a 1876 saa carbine variant with adjustable aperture sights), and the varying target models and barrel lengths. Medium ammo in general should also get a buff in damage drop-off due to how close it is to compact fmj, which makes it irrelevant to run bade medium.
I'm sure I've seen the peacemaker with a longer barrel, maybe a long barrel version of the pax with better damage at range or higher bullet velocity would make a good variant. The 'Pax Sharpshooter' or something like that.
I think thw pax would make for a great opprotunity to give the steady hand trait more of a reason to exist. Whether the scope goes on a carbine or long barrel version is up in the air. Maybe both? I somehow don't see it being useful on the base variant.
I had this idea of Pax Cavalry that is pax with longer barrel with better range and bullet velocity and at the same time being a medium slot and being the first medium slot weapon that can use fanning. Fanning would be less accurate in this variant tho.
Totally agree that the pax needs some love. It's my favourite pistol (just a fan of the design), and feels punchy, but like the centennial; every time I bring it it's just...fine, and leaves me feeling like anything else would better fit what I'm trying to do with it. Before the custom ammos and the scottfield it was the solid mid-range pistol, but it feels like it's lost its place. Like if I want range, the uppercut is obviously the pick, and close up with fanning the lemat or chain pistol is better. For fast fire rate you'd go officer, or new army, and for a balance of damage and range the scotfield is better, what with the reload, price, and better varients like the spitfire. Plus the ammo types feel a bit lacking, as said in the video. I do love it for dualies, but again, anything else works too. I think the biggest, easiest thing would be buffing the claw to the damage of the knife-this worked really well for the brawler pistols, and it would make it the only pick for clearing a slot in your tools and still be able to actually stab people, instead of just scratching them with a harder to aim pax, then getting shot in the face. A long barrel option would also be fun-and is historically accurate- could up the velocity of the bullet, and decrease the damage falloff, as an alternative to the uppercut (faster fire rate makes it a better headclicker, but lower base damage would make it harder to get two-taps to the body compared to the uppercut), or just have it have less sway or something. Or a short-barreled quickdraw option, sacrifice sway for the ability to swap to it faster than normal (could bring back the quickswap meta though). Or make it the one pistol that can swap ammo types-just pull the pin and do a cylinder swap or something-obviously have it take like six seconds or so to swap though. I don't know, I'm not a game dev, and probably not great at actually balancing things. But I feel like there are a lot of fun options for this gun, and it's kind of a shame it's where it is.
Pax is still my favourite weapon because, for the love of god i hate the Ironsight on the Scotfields and cant hit shit with it. The only reasonable buff it needs, would be a High Velocity Variant. Would boost Vetterli pool and made headshoting on far ranges superior to Scottfield.

I just had a thought. What do folks think about an oil canister that could be a consumable that could be thrown at a player that would make flame ammo light in 1 bullet hit if oil made direct contact with a player/make firebombs have more "range" by lighting up the oil puddle
I've always loved the pax. Early in the game's history it had a comfortable spot in the sidearms between the conversion and the uppercut. Its still really good, just power-crept a little bit. Might be interesting to give it the edge in muzzle velocity, but in general I think that might just be a medium ammo issue. That tier definitely has some identity issues. Also, I definitely think it is criminal that it hasn't gotten another variant yet. The S.A.A. needs more love in this game.
I'd like a (marginally) longer barreled version for the Pax (like many others). Could even use that to make a Precision Model. The other option would be a Pax that's faster to draw. Add a Blunt version too just for good measure.
The base pax could either have its price slashed (since it was /the/ go to cowboy gun, theres ought to be Pax's everywhere), or given a real buff to justify its expense. An auto-ejection varient would be cool, and contemporary to 1895. Theres definatly nothing wrong about the pax. You can run it and it'll do you fine. But as Mr. Home said, it doesn't really excell enough at anything in particular to have a real niche.
Ive been wanting a buntline style long barrel pax for a while or a carbine like the officer gets or maybe just a precision variant either way would love to see pax variants
Look up Wyatt Earp's handgun. Normal pistol with a long barrel. Let it be a medium slot with the unsteadiness of the vandal, give or take, with higher muzzle velocity and effective range than the pax. I think that would be dope and also useful and unique.
I think what has made pax right now hated is that it has no FMJ. However, I believe it can benefit with a few changes such as increase in headshot, new bullet variants such as high muzzle velocity/FMJ and perhaps a new variant. For the claw, I would much rather make the blade longer and more pointier so instead of slashing it is more for stabbing. The better solution, just rework medium ammo.
I love the pax, it might just be that I've used it a lot since release but its my sweetheart. It needs a little love for sure, maybe a variant maybe a tiny buff. I love its velocity compared to the scottfield and I just hope the pax gets the love it needs.

Quickdraw is actually a really good idea for a pistol variant until... People start using two of them, one in each slot, to spam shots.
@@Echolaliaxu True but it already happens with existing pistols...with or without fanning. I usually use two conversions one in each slot (not dual wielded).

The gun model can have a lightened frame/grip, "melted" edges, etc. The only mechanical change is that swapping to it is marginally faster. Maybe 20% would be plenty.
Pretty sure they did do that, with the last patch!
@@Jesse__H oh no way I must have missed it
@@Jesse__H can’t check because I’m away from home but are you sure you aren’t thinking of how they only buffed the brawler variants
They only buffed duster weapons
Pax has a tighter fanning spread and greater velocity
I want a longer-barreled Pax, purely for cosmetic reasons. The 5 1/2" SAA that the Pax is based on is alright looking but it'd look cooler with a 7 1/2" barrel. And then I want a Colt Buntline variant with a silly 12" barrel that has longer damage drop-off and FMJ ammo to go with it to make it a pocket sniper.
Yes, give us the Buntline! Make it a pax precision with higher velocity and better range
That's what I've been saying for a while. Give us a Buntline and HVs. Buntline should have rifle range statistics with higher velocity, but the same damage.
We seriously need the 7 1/2" barrel!
Yes, buntline with stock so you can be Lee Van cleef in for a few dollars more!
Guess what guys
Pax carbine mayhaps?
Modern single action army's are converted to carbines all the time, so it wouldn't be outside the realm of possibility. And we only have one pistol carbine variant, it'd add something we don't have although it'd compete with the scottfield precision a bit I feel.
i always wanted a pax carbine
With that they could add Hi-Velocity to the pax ammo pool, giving the vetterli a sidearm to pool its HV with. That and a general med ammo buff would be fantastic
I love the pax, probably my favorite pistol, it's weird how sometimes you're just good with quote on quote bad weapons and bad with "meta" weapons
yeah I get that. Been running winnie silenced since it was first added and I somehow always click heads when using it.
The Pax is pretty much my favorite sidearm for any shotgun, and for the Betterli. If im not running the uppercut for the extra spare ammo I'll pack one with my long ammo too. Just feels smooth, and magnetizes to peoples head, love it
you'd take a pax over an uppercut or conversion with FMJ? in a shotgun build?
man I hope I meet you in the bayou so I can show you how its done ;)
I love the pax but thats mad

I completely agree with you, brother.
Not because the scottsfield is bad, but because I love the pax.
i would like to see high velocity for it. good side arm for vetterli and shotguns.
I always liked the Pax for its "basicness", but i fell like i got more and more alone with this opinion. Okay they could buff the claw to actaually do the stuff ingame it already does in the trailer :)
Genius
if we're talking varients to make the pax stand out a bit, I think a long barrel version with slightly higher damage and slightly higher muzzle velocity/range could be a good choice, it'd be the babby uppercut, finding a midrange between existing weapons which is kind of the medium ammo thing, and maybe a shorter barrel variant with bonus ammo capacity, making it a pack-mule kind of sidearm. make the pax a Utility pick to the scottfield's straight combat ability.
Howdy Homeboy Reel. Personally, I’d like to see a Pax “Big Iron” variant. Deals more damage, but fires slower and has more recoil. Having high velocity as a special ammo type would also be interesting for the Pax
High velocity actually is genius, that way you can finally have a pistol to pair with a high velocity karabiner
High velocity focuses on the main diffrence between it and the scottfield. Pax has a higher velocity than the normal scottfield. People often run fmj which slows down the bullet. Pax getting high velocity gives it a place. Also means theres a pistol than can compete with the velocity of the uppercut
High velocity for the Pax or a variant with longer barrel
Before the Scottfield got the new variants, it was exactly the other way around. Now it completely replaced the Pax.
I preferred the scottfield before the variants were added over the pax, the sights just seem easier to use.
Doesn't the game work in m/s?
honesty really like this gun, I think its better than the standard Scofield, so if I want a semi cheap pistol I just use the pax cause its medium ammo and does the job
Crytek after hearing the cries to add more to the Pax
How about poison ammo
Great and helpful content as always Home. Love the Red Rising shoutout! :)
I think one big point you forgot to mention @HomeReel is that the pax is the shotgunners best friend if they are doing under $500 loadouts
It's faster bullet speed and slightly better handling can often be just enough for somebody with a caldwell rival to poke somebody at range when a Scotfeild might miss
here's an idea.
I love the pax i think high velocity is the best thing for the pax its boosting the vetterli and its like ying and yung with the scottfield
fmj for scottfield (slower) high velocity for pax (faster)
A pax carbine would be my top pick for a variant
This might sound weird, but I kinda would like to see a Pax Target pistol version, that sacrifices ammo and shooting rate for high damage and even less sway and then accompany it with high velo ammo, to give it more synergy with the vetterli in general.
There’s a real life version you’re probably thinking of with that, the bisley model, however I’d say it doesn’t need the sacrifice of ammo. Just make it a little more expensive.
i want to see a pax with a long barrel varient just without a stock
Maybe high velocity would help make it stand out more and would help stack for the vetterli
I've been coming around to the pax more due to the "Ripper" skin. I love taking it with fanning, fire rounds, and Romero with dragons breath when I just need to burn everything
I want HV ammo on Pax, a medium slot “Pax Match”, and maybe a buff to the claw melee variant.
Flash hiders are a very modern invention.
Home Reel comments section: All these great ideas, for free.
Crytek: So...Pax poison ammo? Alright cool.
I shame, no talk about the dual wielding of Pax!
A Red Rising reference, and a Pax video? A combination I didn't know I needed until about 10 seconds ago.
Love the videos always brightens my day to see a new one
I appreciate the Red Rising mention. I think of that book every time I here Pax
I talked about the Pax with my Hunt Squad and I said it is my favourite Revolver in the Game (I know that there are better options but it just feels the best) and I thought about maybe adding a silenced variant would buff it
We need a colt carbine, like in that clint eastwood movie. The one that lee van cleef uses.
Legit I mostly use the pax and I have a 1.41 kd not the best but it’s respectable damnit, and I love this gun!>:(
Pax definitely needs high velocity ammo option
A Pax Precision would be nice. Perhaps a 3-slot Pax Carbine with or without a deadeye scope?
I vote for HV ammo for the Pax since the scottfield doesn't have it, also pax deadeye/carbine would be cool since the scottfield doesn't have either of those, further differentiating them.
Maybe a mace variant? There should be more blunt mele focused guns could help it fill a role. The Scottfield already has a precision mid bullet category but maybe they do a long barrel pax to increase bullet velocity is another option
I would like to see what your thoughts are on the Deadeye Nagant?
what about high velocity for pax
For me the pax is the perfect pistol for midle range in shotgun loadouts if i also want fanning. If i dont want fanning i go for the uppercut. There is also an argument for conversion pistols with fmj but i try to avoid special ammo.
besides any varient, i think they could give the pax poison ammo. Not because poison is exceptionally great in its own merit, but because the pax would see an increased pick-rate when paired with poison centinal, which is seeing some play in 1.9 but is held back by a low ammo pool. no other medium weapon has poison ammo to draw from.
From extensive testing I found the Pax to excel at being the Pareto optimum for fanning and dual wield offering the best trade off for accuracy/dmg
The Pax deserves at least:
1) High Velocity ammo
2) Claw to do same dmg as knife
3) Pax Conversion dmg lowered to 99 (from 104?), to make reg Pax look more compelling (and so Conversion falls more inline with other Compact sidearms)
4) Slight ammo buff for all Med sidearms
Always call the gun pax daddy
I think adding a funny scope would be awesome for shits and gigs, I also think the claw could use some damage boost as well
I'd say they should add something like the 2 cylinder revolvers for a pax variant, that way it's still an overall different thing, but you get 12 shots, with kind of bumping one cylinder out of the way for the other after 6 shots have been fired
A pax deadeye variant would be so cool, it would fit the trait steady hand perfectly
i would like to see a pax silencer variant. would pair good with other medium weapons for ammo boost while also allowing easy stealthy AI removal, (kinda like winnie and silence nagant), and also the combination of silence and dumdum would give it a unique niche (but might make it too strong considering that bow and x-bow kinda do the same and are balanced by slow projectile speed/ fire rate / bullet-drop )
I can’t remember the last time I’ve used a pax the scottfield just outshines it in every way now
PAX needs a long barrel variant.
What i want is fmj and 18 in reserve.
What we need is a buff to medium range dropoff overall.
Centennial needs more dmg or faster rof
what about a long barrel version that takes up to slots or a precision with a stock like we have seen before - or maybe a swift where you replace the whole cylinder.
Caldwell Pax but Cavalry varient perhaps?
(Long barrel)
Then add a little bit more damage and improve the range effectiveness.
You are the best hunt youtuber , I want to give you advice for the channel , your vids are high production quality play other popular games too so people check your channel and see the hunt videos
I would love to hear your opinion on the new caldwell army
No Harmy
Add a Blunt version too just for good measure.
give it sniper velocity
Needs a really long barrel variant like the one at the beginning of for a few dollars more
I think what has made pax right now hated is that it has no FMJ.
