Speaking of dragons and wizards "overlapping", on a podcast show for the Deathbattle/roosterteeth youtube channel there was a recuring trivia game where they asked the different revolving guests questions about things the other cast and crew knew about but they didn't. They'd ask the woman who did all their makeup star wars and star trek questions. They'd ask the middle aged and older show runners DBZ, pokemon, and Yugioh trivia. And they'd often ask one of their lead animators, who was a massive anime fan and just happened to be black, a bunch of questions about medieval European inspired fantasy stories written for and by old white British folks. One time they asked their animator if he knew about the Hogwarts Sorting Hat and to explain the sorting process. By about the 5th time the black animator said "And then the hat decides who's gonna be the next grand wizard." two of the three white guys on camera were actively panicking and begging him to stop saying "grand wizard" and the third was on his phone googling the term to show their anime fan exactly why the term "grand wizard" never shows up in the Harry Potter movies.
Some Players like systems like D&D where the rolls going higher is a good thing, and they enjoy it over the long haul... Once in a while, though, there are people and dice that somehow just roll (greater tendency anyway) low... SO I keep systems like GURPS around, where the lower the roll, the better your odds of doing the thing... AND since GURPS mechanics are based on 3D6, the system is readily and easily picked up by D&D Players and Veterans, too... SO couple that with at least a supplement for ANYTHING (quite literally) to be added into a Game, Setting, or World... and you have a wonderful way to "break up the monotony" without having a lot of extra work on anybody's part for getting along in whatever new game you create... The only downside is a bit more "heavy lifting" left entirely up to the GM... GURPS is a Role Playing System, so not exactly a Game... just a series of resources for MAKING the Game... Yet, any decent GM should have no trouble running through the "Basic Set" and putting together a fine Homebrew to cover all the required bases and bring it to the Table... I've been using GURPS 3e (revised) as THE base book for gaming for years when called upon to break up a monotony of D&D Campaigning, one-shots, and misadventure... ;o)

Don’t forget half orcs! Lol yeah I actually really enjoy the mix too. It would make sense in an actual world where there is a mix of lots of sentient humanoid species. Even in anthropology it’s noted that humans did so with other human lineages. It’s real life proof that we humans would do this even in a fantasy setting like this. And races we make up? Yeah they would probably share that trait.
@@mentalrebllion1270 Considering that those with residual Neanderthal (or Denisovan etc) DNA are known to have useful genetic traits that 'pure' humans wouldn't possess otherwise, most reasonable folk would argue that interbreeding (both within the species and with closely related hominids) is healthier and better for us overall. Same goes for the fantasy version of reality.
Agreed. Half elves, half orcs, and Tieflings, even yuan ti, are all considered some of the most strong to play and are often chosen. They always rank high in polls at least. So it makes sense to me. They are all variations on humans and are often of mixed heritage, even if that heritage isn’t directly biological.

And then, the DM forgot about what the kid had in his little ball, until he brings it out to fight the BBEG, and DM's all like "Oh, crap! I did not prepare for this!"
I once had a similar idea for a homebrew game, which allowed build/class/archetypes from all kinds of media. Some Powerful But Stupid Spellcaster accidentally shattered reality in an attempt to blend all the planes into one overarching hellscape, and "heroes" from all over ended up dropped through rifts, trying to fix the world plane-by-plane. I told my brother about it, and he correctly called me on it just being an excuse to drop a party into Ixalan and have them chased around by giant, possibly armored, occasionally magical, dinosaurs.
Half-orc, half-elf, tiefling, aasimar, halfling, goliath, half-dragons, dragon-blood Sorcerers, etc... DnD intrinsically has SEVERAL mixed races. Why would you play if that was a trigger for you?
(What a coincidence, I thought it would be cool to play a game like this in a den of the dragon vid just the other day lol) I like these kinda crossover games like it sounds so surreal. Captain America, Hellboy, Korra, and a jedi knight have to stop a the reverse santa claus from destroying a world
I think they already created a game where you can play pretty much anything you want its called Rifts. this sounded very similar to that but with the attempt at making it also DnD
I love the assessment of his attitude at the end. Very appropriate Spoilers next: What a garbage person. Nice that he left on his own. It's always good when trash takes itself out the the curb for you
I wonder what the homebrew system was like? I wouldn’t mind playing in a similar type of setting where a Jedi, a pre-war ghoul, an LotR elf, and Ronin Warrior can team up and fight evil.
The way the homebrew system was described, you could almost describe it as something akin to GURPS. Just an example of how wild THAT system is, I made a character that was, and I’m not joking, a giant ameba that used a hollowed out shop manikin as a “body suit” and could spend its health to fire projectiles made of its mater. I called him Bob.
Bad luck with dice rolls! I know that one quite well too. Paladin of Tyr that couldn't hit a damn kobold. DM had to use the swashbuckling trick where the attack only does one point but leaves a scar just so the little rat wouldn't kill me.
This story makes me want to homebrew a campaign set at one of the other magic schools of Rowling's world, or a campaign set in 990 when Hogwarts was founded.

Despite the horror story part of their story props to that DM you not only put up with that guy but he made a interesting game idea and you gave me play a good amount of spotlight as it seems bro that polymorph idea was just amazing
Really curious if that system is still written up somewhere..
I'm just glad someone remembers Asura's Wrath.
Ohhh, I love the idea of the idea of this system. It sounds like something that would be right up my alley!
I've been using GURPS 3e (revised) as THE base book for gaming for years when called upon to break up a monotony of D&D Campaigning, one-shots, and misadventure... ;o)
I got to say though, I really like the thumbnail for this picture.
You unintentionally cheeky Duck. You made me think for a second that he was casting force lighting, thinking you just reversed the animation by honest mistake, only to realize he was deflecting said attack. Great work on this ATD!!!
Really sounds like that guy didn't read the room when the group was put together.
Is there a copy of this setup? I would love to run this.
Right!
This sounds a lot like the FATE system to me, maybe look into that?
,,Overlap whit dragons and wizards."
That took a second to sink in.
This story seems a little well timed with everything going on now days.
Everything that's 'going on now days' when it comes to bigotry has always been going on. People are just more willing to speak up and to listen now.
@@nekoali2 There's also been a sharp increase in fake reports about this kind of stuff. Seems bigotry is always in short supply when measured up to the demand.
@@cristiancojocaru9821 The new saying: if there are no problems to talk about, you have to create problem.
@@dwarfrunes9072 isn't it fortuitous that the people drawing attention to this rising problem are also able to provide the solution, at the low cost of having to give them large sums of money and wide authority to censor and dehumanize.
@@cristiancojocaru9821 Yes it is fascinating. The thing is that peppol magnify the problem and say money is the solution (in order to decive people into giving them money). Also the people that is trying to warn the others about the fraud is dehumanie and smear.
It's not even race-mixing, it's SPECIES mixing, and it's an integral part of the game mechanics that it happens an awful lot, or we wouldn't have options like tieflings or half-elves.
Glad the trash took itself out in the end.
Wowza... sounds like this "Max" person has some big, unresolved issues. That's a disgusting way to act throughout the story!
I sincerely hope they've grown past that behaviour since this incident... spending your days stuck in a mindset like that sounds awful :(
Sadly most of these people like Max Never get out of it, sometimes they do and they are a better person for it but most of the time they refuse to see the other side and stay with what they believe.
@@superphantom100 and those that do get out of it still feel the wariness of other colors people no really it’s hard to get that out of your system when you were told to be this In your entire life
@@ryanlozano9086 yeah I can see that
The dragons and wizar- oh, I understand now.
This is a homebrew that I would love to play in, the idea and mechanics are really unique and well balanced.
I would totally play as a Pokemon trainer! Would love to RP as both a trainer and all my team.
I love the story about the ten-year-old player whose charter was a Pokemon trainer, in D&D, and managed to capture a dragon. Nat 20's, man. Gotta love 'em.
And then, the DM forgot about what the kid had in his little ball, until he brings it out to fight the BBEG, and DM's all like "Oh, crap! I did not prepare for this!"
@@AuntLoopy123 that's so cool
I would be a Transformer
I once had a similar idea for a homebrew game, which allowed build/class/archetypes from all kinds of media.
Some Powerful But Stupid Spellcaster accidentally shattered reality in an attempt to blend all the planes into one overarching hellscape, and "heroes" from all over ended up dropped through rifts, trying to fix the world plane-by-plane.
I told my brother about it, and he correctly called me on it just being an excuse to drop a party into Ixalan and have them chased around by giant, possibly armored, occasionally magical, dinosaurs.
Because of the dragon and wizard crossover 🤣🤣🤣
This campaign and system sounds so amazing
I miss title as: “How a racist misogynist almost ruined a really cool Hebrew Campaign”
Me: Really, how were they surprised? Then I saw my mistake
The polymorph must have been based on the Red Dwarf series, I loved that show.
Half-orc, half-elf, tiefling, aasimar, halfling, goliath, half-dragons, dragon-blood Sorcerers, etc... DnD intrinsically has SEVERAL mixed races. Why would you play if that was a trigger for you?
Are you surprised with how many of the same category as Max are in the Star Wars and Star Trek fandom?
"Luck doesn't pick a side." Yes it does. It's the opposite side of wherever Will Wheaton is.
This homebrew sounds awesome!
wow I've watched this 3 times and that first burn went over my head till now damn
The lion, the witch comment literally slayed me.
I love the assessment of his attitude at the end. Very appropriate
Spoilers next:
What a garbage person.
OP has a pinned comment on this video. The thread below it has a link to the system for anyone to use.
Imagine un-ironically being racist in a roleplaying game with multiple races in it.
You’d be surprised 🤨
I've been brewing up a home brew myself
I'm so lucky I DM for my very best friends and have never had to deal with things like this.
If Max was a technomancer, why was he getting off from a succubus? A toaster would make more sense lmao
Ima be honest i wuld have kicked him out the second i heard "they have a much bigger part to play then the rest of the group"
It feels like he is talking about the GURPs system.
I’d love to see the system they came up with and run a campaign
This campaign sounds incredibly cool the sheer amount of possibilities awesome
I want to try that magical polymorph, making the party fight copies of themselves, thing sometime. That is a genius idea.
Oh cool, the name actually makes sense.
Yeah, was surprised too.
@@SamWeltzin there’s been a few that they’ve made that just felt click-baity or overblown
@@flyingturret208thecannon5 Oh yeah. I've seen several. S'why I was surprised this one actually fit.
@@SamWeltzin a fellow comrade who has been paying attention as well, good!
I would have loved to try out this system to make just about anything. It is so hard in base dnd to make a cryomancer.
Bad luck with dice rolls! I know that one quite well too. Paladin of Tyr that couldn't hit a damn kobold. DM had to use the swashbuckling trick where the attack only does one point but leaves a scar just so the little rat wouldn't kill me.
That campaign sounds like a damn fun time.
I need to play that kind of homebrew
That system sounds super dope. Maybe I’ll try that with my friends
A really amazing story , home brew campaigns can be so awesome
Ok so "the lion, the witch and the audacity of THIS BITCH" that brought me to tears lol great writing OP
10:09 Epic Quote Moment, for all who are interested.
So mortal Kombat except you're not in a tournament you're fighting evildoers pretty baller they ask me.
This story makes me want to homebrew a campaign set at one of the other magic schools of Rowling's world, or a campaign set in 990 when Hogwarts was founded.
I feel like this is a story I read on D&D horror stories reddit a few months ago.
0:48 I once rolled 2 natural ones in a row followed by a natural 3 and another natural 1
...then I landed the killing blow and got the "how do you wanna do this?" XD
Your know who does have high ground over everybody? The Jedi
So... how do we get to learn this system because it sounds dope AF
4:52 And they’re playing α Jedi, they know the high ground!
No-sapian ... just a person you say NO to XD
"The Lion, The Witch, and the audacity of this BITCH!" I'm going to use this omg😭😭😭😭😭🤣🤣🤣🤣💀
That Lion burn was fantastic!
Wish I knew the game mechanics this guy created, I would freaking love to run a campaign in this setting.
This kind of makes me want to run an Itachi Uchiha encounter. Maybe some sort of magic item that summons the scariest foe the characters can imagine to fight against, and it just always summons Itachi lol.
