The "verassen" is not used very much (apart from misspelling "verrassen", haha). It would be hard to tell them apart in spoken language, I think it would be a small pause between "ver" and "assen", to prevent the rolling r sounding like a double r.

Microwave is also microgolf in Dutch but we use it rarely. Our southern neighbors use microgolf for microwave and we use magnetron. In my opinion sounds microgolf more logical for to be microwave.

It kind of depends where in the Netherlands someone is from. In the South, where most people have a "zachte G" (soft G), it sounds much nicer than in the North where people usually have a much harsher G.

used in west-flanders, Zeeland, and in north-east .
But than it's more like an accent
as a remnant of the dialect of the area.....

And who came up with the word "swaffelen", I don't know, and I think it's a good way to get an infection, funny as the activity sounds....
Tip for pronounciation of "verrassen" and "verassen".... "ver-ras-sen" and "ver-as-sen"... less emphasis on the 'r' when you say incinerate and more when you say surprise.
"kut has a deeper meaning"? Now that sounds VERY suggestive for me... (The official meaning of "kut" is "vagina"... In all other contexts it's rather a slang term, so if you see Dutch react strangely to that sentence)....
