And there's a subtle difference in General Tulius' Legion Oath in the aftermath of the Dark Brotherhood. Instead of saying "the emperor, Tidus Mede II", he just says "the Emperor". Turns out they know he's dead, but apparently there was a contingency plan in place in the event of his death.
While I do despise Ulfric I have to admit that Bethesda gave him some of the best dialogue out of almost every other character in the game and I always looked forward to hearing what he had to say.

The ending here might not paint Tullius in a good light but if you speak with him after all this, he shares with you that he has come to respect the Nords that fought alongside him and loves Skyrim as his new home. He also in a 'nudge nudge, wink wink' kind of way hints that the empire might be planning a rebellion against the Thalmor quite soon....

The only reason why the Thalmor were able to get the Empire to sign the treaty is because they cheat, by using Vaermina Orb and on top of that, the Empire was still weakend after the Oblivion Crisis. The Emperor was preparing for a 2nd Great War with the Thalmor until Ulfric incite an uprising in Skyrim.

Well...he murdered the king, a Septim. Talos was the first emperor, the first Septim...therefore, he murdered a guy that came from the linage of the god he defended and wanted to make Skyrim exclusively for nords... He died fighting for what he believed in, he's a true north, but his ideals weren't in the right place tbh.

Seems to me that most of the Stormcloak supporters don't even know all the lore when I hear things like "the Imperials are invading Skyrim e.c.t" or "the Empire is trying to wipe out Nord culture". Fools Nord culture has still prospered when part of the Empire. That's the Empires main strength they are a cosmopolitan nation. I just assume most Stormcloak supporters didn't play any of the previous Elder Scrolls games.

Titus Mede II himself signed the White Gold Concordat with an Aldmeri blade held on his neck. Ulfric and several other leaders called this a cowardly move, because a false legend told that Titus Mede II bravely killed the High Aldmeri Wizard Naarfiin when it was actually the Forgotten Hero who slew him, but it was either Titus refuse to sign the treaty, or he let the Empire live to see another day.
@@SD_yessir Cyrodiil was under invasion of Aldmeri dominion like 2-3 years. When empire returned they didnt have enough soldiers to keep fighting. They didnt know how many soldiers summerset isles would provide. Theyve had enough numbers to take the cyrodiil and environs and stopping the elven reinforcements. Plus during the war emperor was assasinated and wounded. Thats why forgotten hero dressed like him to kill Naarfiin and succeed. So what im trying to say; if they didnt signed it you would never know what they could bring to empire's doors.
The funny thing is, the Stormcloaks integrated imperial culture into their province. They are practically fighting for an imperial god which contradicts their claim of their culture.
This is why I sided with the Empire, Ulfric only cares about one thing, himself, he uses people's grief as a way to motivate them but in reality, he doesn't care. General Tulius just wants the war to end and makes a speech about how it's what the Thalmor wanted, Ulfric then admits that he knows the Thalmor wanted it, which proves he doesn't care about the Thalmor. He even say's that he'd prefer the Dragonborn to kill him as it would "make for a better story", he only cares about getting himself in the history books, too bad most people are to blind to tell.
Agreed. Also, contrary to Tullius's complete ignorance and disgust towards Nordic culture, he seems to be a genuinely good person, or at least has genuinely good intent. When the dragon attacks his orders aren't "Kill the prisoners!" "Slay the dragon!" or "Run for your lives!" No, his orders are "Get the townspeople to safety!" Meanwhile Ulfric and the rest of Stormcloaks immediately get out of there. I can sort of understand that, but the fact that the Stormcloaks don't give a damn about the townspeople and view the dragon as a blessing erases my sympathies. On one playthrough I escaped with Ralof and talked to him after I got out. "Lucky for us it attacked when it did, eh?" Was what he said to me, laughing as if it hadn't just razed an entire village of innocent men, women, and children to the ground.

Yeah, in my first playthrough I joined the stormcloaks and felt bad about betraying him, specially after giving the throne to that vignar graymane moron. Now I made a new character and killed Ulfric. I hated that guy but got to admit it was kinda sad.

While I always sympathize with Ulfric's cause, siding with the empire seems like the most reasonable choice. A united empire is essential for putting those snotty high elves in their place. My headcanon for when I have to kill Ulfric is that my character promises him that he/she will see to Skyrim's freedom and restoration of Talos worship after the elves are done with before striking him down.

Plus in the peace treaty tullius is much more reasonable and doesn't throw a tampertamtrum multiple times infringed of the greybeards. Tullius does get angerd by ulfrics demands yes but that's justifiable. Hadvar is also one of the best near saint characters in the tes history. Most supporters of the empire are just as stired up about the thalmor kidnapping people in their own homes just for worshiping talks but they want to take it to the thalmor not each other. The empire puts free winter as jaral and he's a truer nord than ulfric.

The Imperials were killing people because of Ulfric in the first place. As the horse thief said, the Empire was nice and lazy before the rebellion. If it wasn't for this rebellion, the Imperials wouldn't be taking off people's heads.
In helgen, when Alduin attacks, the first thing Tullius says is: Get the townspeople to safety! While Ulfric ran away, not caring for the safety of the others. The Empire cares for the people, and plans on backstabbing the Thalmor.

I don't know how there's people that follow Ulfric even after four years that Skyrim came out, he only wants rule over Skyrim, he doesn't care about the people or Talos. In other part, the Empire only need time to recover so they can fight and expulse the Thalmors, if the stormcloaks win, Skyrim would be weak and probably the Thalmor would take power over it. There's very little difference really in terms of gameplay/rewards. The Civil War questline isn't particularly amazing but Bethesda did a good job setting the stage for it with all the background lore and info. My advice is talk to all the Jarls, read any book you come across relating to the Civil War, talk to citizens in the main two cities (Solitude and Windhelm) and then make an informed decision on which side you think you agree with most.

What do you mean, dont you know anything about them? The stormcloaks are a passionate bunch, you'd never see them ceding like that. Both Ulfric and Galmar chose to die.
The problem with picking a side in this civil war, and I think this was intentional, is that there's A LOT of information and history you're missing when you're presented with a choice on who to join, and throughout the game you really only get biased takes on why each character has chosen their side. Either way the war ends, you're given the sense that some sort of injustice is still being done. With the Stormcloaks, you see fully that Ulfric is very self-consumed and may not have what it takes to lead an independent Skyrim. With the Imperials, you see that Tullius and the Empire care so little for respecting Skyrim and it's traditions. Ultimately, I guess it just came down to a choice of what was important to you. Put Ulfric down, and keep the Empire together at the cost of opening up Skyrim to further oppression under the Thalmor. Or put Tullius down, free Skyrim of Thalmor oppression, but leave the Empire weaker than it already was.

And Skyrim will be in a huge recession after the war, trade would be severely disrupted, and Imperial companies would leave the province. As well as that Whiterun is heavily damaged. It might, it might not, there's even a chance that Ulfric's rebellion has essentially given the Thalmor victory on a silver platter. Ulfric's intentions mentioned the Thalmor are most likely to attack Skyrim as well, he suspects that war will start though granted, a separate army from the Empire isn't exactly better for Skyrim.
The empire isn't a puppet. If anything, Ulfric is the puppet - the Thalmor are manipulating him. Hell, one of the only reasons the stormcloak rebellion is still around is because the Thalmor provide indirect assistance.

Hunter Moore Did I say the Thalmor want the Stormcloaks to win? No. They offer some indirect assistance here and there, not enough to give them any major advantages but enough to keep them going. The Stormcloaks don't even realize the Thalmor are helping them - Ulfric might, but the game isn't exactly clear on that. As for my self... it is really sad that Empire is in civil war. But if I have to chose side, I side with men who are willing to die and fight to the last breath for what they believe and deem right. For this I will support Stormcloacks. If the whole Empire was likelyminded and stubbornly fought to the end, Thalmor would have died off. So if I have to chose, I chose side which doesnt have to bow to anything, even if it means death and beeing despised by cowards and "carefull ones".
Had the Empire fought any more they, along with their remaining provinces, would have been obliterated. The Thalmor were torn up after their loss of their Cyrodil front, sure, but the Empire was in no state itself to finish them off.
Have you used the Thu'um in the game? It's an instant incapacitating attack. There is no way in hell it was a fair fight when one person begins the fight with a Thu'um and the other person doesn't have it. You might as well poison someone or blow out their kneecap before the duel and call it a fair fight. Personally, I think there are some merits to why the Stormcloaks are fighting -- but that doesn't change the fact that Ulfric had an unfair advantage in what was touted an "honorable" duel.
Anything Ulfric could use is fair in a fight. Ulfric spent years learning to shout, why wouldn’t he use it? That’s like saying a mage shouldn’t be able to use magic
From my understanding, Torygg could have learned the Thum as well if he were truly dedicated as Ulfric was. The point of that duel was to show that the High King of Skyrim would do anything necessary to defend his people, starting first with becoming a great warrior. If he is not willing to learn a single shout, but Ulfric is, then he lost the duel fair and square on account of his own laziness and lack of commitment to being a strong warrior. That duel was 100% fair and honorable in accordance to their customs.
An annotation in the corner said to like the video if the viewer sided with the imperials and to dislike if the viewer sided with the stormcloaks. So, no, the dislikes aren't salty Stormcloaks, the dislikes are mostly people who read the annotation and said "Hey woah man, I'm a Stormcloak."

I've completed both factios, and it revealed a lot of information. First is, the empire may lose to rebels, only because THALMOR didn't allowed good imperial soldiers to fight. General tulius told it. Thalmor wanted empire to be totaly gone, without wasting dominion soldiers. So they allowed rebels do it, after it, thalmor would so easily take skyrim, and all tamriel. Empire is the only way to protect tamriel, and they are trying. Ulfric only wants to claim kings throne. He uses imperial surrender, as a way to fool he's people into thinking, that he's cause is honorous.

Lord Veneck Did some research, there's a book written by Thalmor regarding Ulfric as an asset. They knew a rebellion was gonna happen by outlawing worship of Talos, so they used Ulfric in order to profit from the turmoil in Skyrim.
The thalmor want the civil war, but if Ulfric win, he will be an important enemy later, not like the Empire who has already lose. Civil war started just a little time before the events of Skyrim, so in more of 20 years the Empire has done NOTHING. If the empire win, the situation will be exactly like before the civil war, with an Empire who suck the Thalmors...

Row Boat This war was 25 years ago, and the Empire hasn't recovered any power, he's weak, more than when they sign the treaty. The empire doesn't want to make alliances with other countries (Hammerfell, Skyrim...) , he want a total control, divide Tamriel and help the Thalmor.

Seems to me that most of the Stormcloak supporters don't even know all the lore when I hear things like "the Imperials are invading Skyrim e.c.t" or "the Empire is trying to wipe out Nord culture".
Fools Nord culture has still prospered when part of the Empire. That's the Empires main strength they are a cosmopolitan nation. I just assume most Stormcloak supporters didn't play any of the previous Elder Scrolls games.

Ulfric and several other leaders called this a cowardly move, because a false legend told that Titus Mede II bravely killed the High Aldmeri Wizard Naarfiin when it was actually the Forgotten Hero who slew him, but it was either Titus refuse to sign the treaty, or he let the Empire live to see another day.
@@SD_yessir Cyrodiil was under invasion of Aldmeri dominion like 2-3 years. When empire returned they didnt have enough soldiers to keep fighting. They didnt know how many soldiers summerset isles would provide. Theyve had enough numbers to take the cyrodiil and environs and stopping the elven reinforcements. Plus during the war emperor was assasinated and wounded. Thats why forgotten hero dressed like him to kill Naarfiin and succeed. So what im trying to say; if they didnt signed it you would never know what they could bring to empire's doors.
The funny thing is, the Stormcloaks integrated imperial culture into their province. They are practically fighting for an imperial god which contradicts their claim of their culture.

General Tulius just wants the war to end and makes a speech about how it's what the Thalmor wanted, Ulfric then admits that he knows the Thalmor wanted it, which proves he doesn't care about the Thalmor. He even say's that he'd prefer the Dragonborn to kill him as it would "make for a better story", he only cares about getting himself in the history books, too bad most people are to blind to tell.

No, his orders are "Get the townspeople to safety!" Meanwhile Ulfric and the rest of Stormcloaks immediately get out of there. I can sort of understand that, but the fact that the Stormcloaks don't give a damn about the townspeople and view the dragon as a blessing erases my sympathies. On one playthrough I escaped with Ralof and talked to him after I got out. "Lucky for us it attacked when it did, eh?" Was what he said to me, laughing as if it hadn't just razed an entire village of innocent men, women, and children to the ground.

While I always sympathize with Ulfric's cause, siding with the empire seems like the most reasonable choice. A united empire is essential for putting those snotty high elves in their place. My headcanon for when I have to kill Ulfric is that my character promises him that he/she will see to Skyrim's freedom and restoration of Talos worship after the elves are done with before striking him down.

You do realize ulfric regrets fighting the empire when you meet him in soverngaurd right? He says it only made alduin stronger. Plus in the peace treaty tullius is much more reasonable and doesn't throw a tampertamtrum multiple times infringed of the greybeards. Tullius does get angerd by ulfrics demands yes but that's justifiable. Hadvar is also one of the best near saint characters in the tes history. Most supporters of the empire are just as stired up about the thalmor kidnapping people in their own homes just for worshiping talks but they want to take it to the thalmor not each other. The empire puts free winter as jaral and he's a truer nord than ulfric.

There's very little difference really in terms of gameplay/rewards. The Civil War questline isn't particularly amazing but Bethesda did a good job setting the stage for it with all the background lore and info. My advice is talk to all the Jarls, read any book you come across relating to the Civil War, talk to citizens in the main two cities (Solitude and Windhelm) and then make an informed decision on which side you think you agree with most.

The sword Tullius gives you is the same one Ulfric Stormcloak gives you in the final mission if you were to Join the Stormcloak
The problem with picking a side in this civil war, and I think this was intentional, is that there's A LOT of information and history you're missing when you're presented with a choice on who to join, and throughout the game you really only get biased takes on why each character has chosen their side.
Either way the war ends, you're given the sense that some sort of injustice is still being done. With the Stormcloaks, you see fully that Ulfric is very self-consumed and may not have what it takes to lead an independent Skyrim. With the Imperials, you see that Tullius and the Empire care so little for respecting Skyrim and it's traditions.
Ultimately, I guess it just came down to a choice of what was important to you. Put Ulfric down, and keep the Empire together at the cost of opening up Skyrim to further oppression under the Thalmor. Or put Tullius down, free Skyrim of Thalmor oppression, but leave the Empire weaker than it already was.
You do know that a free skyrim is a weak one? Skyrim will soon be freed from thalmor oppression

Nope. I'd rather have Empire. Here's why:
If the Stormcloaks win, they will either do one of these two things:
- go to Alinor, and try to fight the Thalmor. They will get their butts kicked big time! You want to know why the Thalmor got half of Tamriel, beated the strongest faction of Tamriel, the Empire? Go to Alinor.
- Stay in Skyrim, because "The Thalmor are gone". We both know the Thalmor aren't defeaten and you only prolong the execution date.
An Imperial Skyrim is much better. When the Second Great War will happen (it will happen), the troops of Skyrim can be put to a much better use, than simply die off in Alinor.
For the Empire!

High Rock is still under control of the Empire. They have no reason to join Skyrim. A Second Great War is coming, so why join the Nords, if they would fight the Elves anyway? And Skyrim will be in a huge recession after the war, trade would be severely disrupted, and Imperial companies would leave the province. As well as that Whiterun is heavily damaged. As for my self... it is really sad that Empire is in civil war. But if I have to chose side, I side with men who are willing to die and fight to the last breath for what they believe and deem right. For this I will support Stormcloacks. If the whole Empire was likelyminded and stubbornly fought to the end, Thalmor would have died off. So if I have to chose, I chose side which doesnt have to bow to anything, even if it means death and beeing despised by cowards and "carefull ones".
Had the Empire fought any more they, along with their remaining provinces, would have been obliterated. The Thalmor were torn up after their loss of their Cyrodil front, sure, but the Empire was in no state itself to finish them off.

Have you used the Thu'um in the game? It's an instant incapacitating attack.
There is no way in hell it was a fair fight when one person begins the fight with a Thu'um and the other person doesn't have it. You might as well poison someone or blow out their kneecap before the duel and call it a fair fight.
Personally, I think there are some merits to why the Stormcloaks are fighting -- but that doesn't change the fact that Ulfric had an unfair advantage in what was touted an "honorable" duel.
Either way the duel had gone, Ulfric would have unquestionably won. It was a show of power to use the voice. Torygg was no warrior.
Anything Ulfric could use is fair in a fight. Ulfric spent years learning to shout, why wouldn’t he use it? That’s like saying a mage shouldn’t be able to use magic
From my understanding, Torygg could have learned the Thum as well if he were truly dedicated as Ulfric was. The point of that duel was to show that the High King of Skyrim would do anything necessary to defend his people, starting first with becoming a great warrior. If he is not willing to learn a single shout, but Ulfric is, then he lost the duel fair and square on account of his own laziness and lack of commitment to being a strong warrior.
That duel was 100% fair and honorable in accordance to their customs.

Tullius isn't the Empire, he's a member of it but not the head, hence why he has to ask you to keep the fact that peace with the Thalmor is temporary to yourself.
I've completed both factios, and it revealed a lot of information. First is, the empire may lose to rebels, only because THALMOR didn't allowed good imperial soldiers to fight. General tulius told it. Thalmor wanted empire to be totaly gone, without wasting dominion soldiers. So they allowed rebels do it, after it, thalmor would so easily take skyrim, and all tamriel. Empire is the only way to protect tamriel, and they are trying. Ulfric only wants to claim kings throne. He uses imperial surrender, as a way to fool he's people into thinking, that he's cause is honorous.

Lord Veneck Did some research, there's a book written by Thalmor regarding Ulfric as an asset. They knew a rebellion was gonna happen by outlawing worship of Talos, so they used Ulfric in order to profit from the turmoil in Skyrim.

I believe everyone should choose the empire. I believe that the empire is right to rule tamriel. But I do believe nords should be the ones to rule their homeland. The only times I choose stormcloaks is for certain builds, or I'm a nord.
