The cool thing about the Play-Choice 10 is that the owner had the ability to swap the carts for new ones to give the arcade game new life. The new games were advertised by a little aluminum display on top of the cabinet. Also, prior to releasing Super Mario Bros. 3 on the NES in the USA, Nintendo first made it available to play on the Play-Choice 10. They did so to boost cart sales. (like that was necessary courtesy of The Wizard) Also, the ROM for Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! was a little different. The ROM was coded so that you enter a unique password prior to playing so that when you came back, you can pick up where you left off. Since the Play-Choice 10 was nothing more than a Pay-For-Play NES, people have developed adaptors so that you can plug-n-play standard NES carts. When that is done, the slot where you plugged in the NES cart shows up at question marks, I think, on the upper monitor/game select screen. Two final bits of trivia, the Play-Choice 10, was either new cabinets or a modified Punch-Out!! cabinet. And there was even a countertop/ bar-top version. The Super Mario 3 intro got us all excited and I clearly remember seeing it for the very first time. Watching raccoon Mario fly through the air and collecting coins. This is why the PlayChoice-10 arcade cabinet brings back memories.
Ok I'll be the one to say this, those Power Rangers in the Retro Rick's Game Point loco look like they have bucket shaped helmets and I find this humorous and cheesy in a good way. I love it, good work Jacob : ).

These were at every arcade when I was a kid. Havent seen one in person in about a decade. First time I saw SMB 1 was on one of these in the mid 80s. Probably around the same time that it was released on cartridge. My first NES was the "Deluxe Set" with R.O.B. that came with Gyromite and Duck Hunt on separate cartridges. My dad bought it for me at KB Toy store. I remember being at the store that day and had already seen Super Mario Bros on a PC-10 so obviously I wanted that game but KB didn't have it, so I got Mario Bros and.... while it was ok. I was disappointed. I remember setting up the system and having just Duck Hunt, Gyromite and Mario Bros. 90% of the games they had in the store were the "black box" games like Wild Gunman, Pinball and Ice Climber and such so this was super early in the console's life cycle. I'm still unsure if I had my system before SMB was released or they just sold out of copies at the store.
As I patiently wait for an online store from Retro Rick. I will make my way up to the store during my vacation and take about 500 bucks to gladly spend there.. for now.

I remember playing Goonies on a Play Choice 10 or something similar. It was the first Goonies that was only released on Famicom in Japan. I never ever saw the game again. I didn't even realize it was a Famicom game back then. I just thought it was this crazy arcade. Years went by and I started to think I imagined the whole thing and that this Goonies "arcade" game didn't actual exist. Not until about 6 or so years ago when I found it was real and it was released in Japan on the Famicom. The other time I remember playing one in the arcade, but it just had games I already had at home and you could only play it for a couple of minutes. Even if you were really good at the game. I didn't like that it was time based play. Anyways, that's my nostalgia for the Play Choice 10.
Really enjoy your channel as a child of the 80-90’s! And I get you have a business now that has bills to pay but I don’t really want to see a commercial for your store. What I mean is I don’t really need to see how you stocked your shelves or what you have in boxes yet to put out. Customer interactions, and hunting/collecting is super fun to watch tho.
I first see mario in Mallorca 1986 in a Arcade u could hear the noise about 10 kids around it thought it was Arcade version little did I know it was just a nes inside until 30 year's later

I can remember when the arcade I went to as a young lad closed it's doors. One day it was open and then I can remember being excited we were going to the mall and my mom breaking the news to me that the arcade was closed and was no more. I think the mall even went a little downhill as well.

I got a nearly new countertop spinning locking display perfect for handhelds or high-end games for sale. I had a game store at my flea market but pulled out during covid. You can fit like 30 handhelds systems in it, gameboys, ds, 3Ds, etc. I paid 250 slish after shipping from an online auction. looking to get 125. Only problem is in in ny
You got the coolest store for somebody like me who is nostalgic but don't remember all these toys if I walked into your store I might think they were new and not 90s just a suggestion maybe you should put the era of the toys above them.
Where is a trustworthy place to have a functioning retro console (SNES/OG Xbox/Genesis for example) cleaned up and maintained internally so I know it will keep on working for years to come?
